There was something so anime about Jordan asking why Nick Googled his character. I'm imagining Nick celebrating his early victory while Jordan does a short gasp with pulsating pupils. He asks himself in an internal monologue, "Why did he Google it? Why did he have to Google it?" We're then shown a montage of subtle clues that Jordan is understanding that it's Richter. He knows, but can't let Nick he knows. He sticks it out through a few more incorrect guesses and decides to unleash his trump card, "Is it... Richter?" A blinding light inundates Nick, shielding his eyes as he, defeated, screams.

If we're going to um actually Pyra, she does use a sword. His answer was correct. A Blade's weapon is manifested by their core crystal. They have a direct tie to it, but it only came from them, it does not house their being. Blades, are essentially the same thing as the gems in Steven Universe. (Also, I know Rex is the one who prominantly uses the Aegis weapon, but Pyra uses it too in blade combos.)
I feel like the questions: "Is your character a Pokémon?" Or "Has your character been in a Mario game? Including spinoffs." Would instantly cut down a LOT of characters.
Ehh, it depends. If the answer to those questions are "no" (which is far more likely with random selection), it doesn't do much for you. A safer strategy is to try to come up with a question that eliminates roughly half of the roster no matter what the answer is, so either way you're making progress.
