I had a hard time at first. Somehow it seems so wrong and more like a game for very small children. I miss the usual little things, like explanations or something connected. How did we get lucky and why are we at this farm? Who’s farm is it? I don't like the board quests and the tiny steps at the beginning and the map is beautiful but boring. I have no idea how to get enough money so i can buy enough fences and my three dinosaurs still run out of stamina so fast.. the farm gets messy faster than i am able to clean up. And i repeat too many times too much stuff. Until i know what the Dino in front of me likes or don‘t like i lost most of the things i laboriously collected. Because i am really bad in guessing. And i have no patience to get the dino tired, write in the book and see what it is written there because i am not very good in recognising the flute notes. But - even though there's so much about it that annoys me i still kind of like it and its just so adorable and cute. I have mixed feelings.
to me, paleo pines is more of dinosaurs ranching over the farming part. The farming part is needed to get shells to buy stuffs for dinos :D . The relationship is for the dinos. Also you can switch tools with hotkeys 1-6
I agree that something feels like its missing from it, in my opinion and as for what i think it is for me, is for it to have more things to do than just taming dinos and planting stuff. Maybe allow us to build stuff in our ranch that can help keep dinos happy, or allow us to do more stuff with crops. Or, add something else. Theres just something missing and i cant quite tell what it is. I still love the game tho
I’m more of a Wylde flowers farming sim gal. If characters and story take precedence over farming, then I’ll love it! It’s been easier for me not to spend money on recent games because most of them prioritise crops, livestock, and collection instead of relationships and events. Maybe I’m just not interested in farming games anymore because I’ve played so many at this point. I’m gravitating back towards RPGs because the relationship aspect tends to be more emphasised.
I love wylde flowers and I played it for 18 hours for the past week! I've had it for a few months but I never got the hang of it. once I did, I just can't stop playing it because I keep wanting to figure out more about the story.
I think with games that save only when you go to sleep, it (tends to be) for technical reasons rather than game design reasons. If you can save at any time, you have to save the state of every thing in the world, that can be recreated perfectly from that save file when you load. If you only save at the end of the day, you can just reset people/things to their starting state for the day, there's no need to keep track of what activity they were in the middle of. It is possible to do the save-anytime thing, many games do, but if you don't specifically write the code in a way that allows this, then it can be difficult to add afterwards. You can see it go wrong in some games when you reload a save and a bunch of things move/disappear. It does have the side effect of reinforcing the "just one more day..." addictive nature of farming games though, because often the most fun part of the game is right at the start of the day.
I got it on switch and, while I don’t have much time to play right now, I’m enjoying it and have had no trouble with it at all. I know I may just be one of the lucky ones, but it’s been running smoothly for me and I find it relaxing and fun to play after work.
I only have some 15 hours in-game so far. And I am already at the point of ennui and deja vu. The fed-ex jobs off the bulletin board in the village are of a very very narrow scope: take this hat (or notebook) to someone (who is right across the square if you're lucky). Get me 6 potatoes - at about the 25th time it loses its fascination. And there just isn't any variety! I do not regret the absence of 'romance' but the interactions with the npc are similarly devoid of depth and variety. And I am NOT a collector like some folk are - I want one dino to help water crops. I want one to break rocks, one to break logs, one to ride fast, but at this point, more or less, I lose my ambition of gaining any more. Let's NOT get into the inventory system here. How many times do I have to run back to the house to unload inventory from my pockets? And already my house inventory is nearly full as well. Made worse by having one slot of 0 star cranberries, one slot of 2 star cranberries, one slot of 3 star cranberries ... Seriously, it's one of the worst aspects of this game. Way, way too much pointless forth and back. I bought it on special, so I am not going to moan too much, but if I had paid 30 or 40 dollars (NZ) for this, I'd feel I didn't get my money's worth. It simply needs more depth.
I’m playing Paleo Pines on PS5 and I’m loving it. Love the world, the dinos, and taking care of them and farming. I just a have few minors issues with it: need the inventory to be bigger (idk if there’s an upgrade or not), don’t like that the tools and journal take up inventory slots, and need more interactions or things to see and do in the open areas. But overall really loving Paleo Pines. I’m not here for relationships, I just want Dino Buddies!
I LOVE this game! I’m a bit sad that the Spinosaurus didn’t end up in the game - as it’s my all time favorite. I did hear that you can only have a max of 24 dinosaurs? If so, that’s a bit lame. I like collecting more than 1 color of each species. It’s hard to choose just a few! I also don’t like the save system only being when you sleep for the day. :( I tend to have to leave my games sporadically, and it always ends up being midday in games like that.
this game is super fun! also you can save your game whenever you want if you go back to your house on the farm and you can start at the time you left off at but you would have to run all the way back if you were out doing something which is too bad
@@monicaroos oh! That’s actually helpful for me! Not sure how i missed that. :) The running back isn’t too bad for me - beats having to restart a whole day haha
limited dinos you can keep in your ranch due to ranch size and how many dreamstones you can collect, however if you release a dino to the wild you can always asks the researcher girl to find them back for you and she keep log of ALL dinos you got.
Darn spino is my favourite too, even if they're not sure if it even existed anymore lol. Yeah the having to run back to a bed to save annoys me in every game it's in. At least autosave in case of crashes and let me save on exiting the game... And if people want to use saves to cheat or redo things, who cares? It's thier game they're spoiling.
Switch performance is good, except loading is suuuuper slow, especially starting the game. The were some glitches with sounds not stopping at various places, but they reset upon leaving/entering an area. I really like this game, and honestly doing my collecting bit while not being forced to do endless relationship quests is a breath of fresh air.
There's actually a hotkey to quickly take out and select your tools! I've only played the switch version but I presume that it's the same for other consoles (dunno how or if it's also on PC). Basically, to quickly use the journal you press Y. To go through your inventory without opening it you simply press the right arrow until you pull out what you need. I recommend sorting your inventory since they always come in order. Admittedly the game doesn't tell you this (or I haven't found what or who's supposed to) so unless you test the controls like I did you'll just miss this.
I've been playing Harvest Moon: Winds of Anthos which surprised me, Natsume did a good job this time since the SoS split but I came here to see if I should also get this too. Still undecided but I'm also much more informed about what to expect!
I’ve been playing this game since release. I absolutely adore my dinosaur friends. That being said, if I play the game for too long, which ends up happening, I get a terrible migraine. Does this happen to anyone else? How do I combat this?
I'm a migrainey person too and I had trouble with the cameras at first. What's weird is I've sorted that out but I think the bright colors are bothering me, which I didn't think would be a problem since Nintendo IPs have pretty bright color pallets. Don't know what it is about this one but I wish you could turn down the vibrancy or something. Guess I need to use sunglasses lol
@@jerdie there are other games that I’ve tried playing but truly couldn’t because of the graphics such as the borderland games…. I also get motion sickness in vehicles. Thanks for this, it does look really cute, but I'll pass on this one I think. Got enough on my plate already and many other games that appeal more to me.
It’s a good game I just don’t care for the human characters at all. The dinosaurs are the stars of the show and the human characters aren’t interesting. The characters feel so bland to the point where I don’t care about them at all and doing anything for them is a drag.
