At 16:01, the comparison of the atomizer assemblies usually is the best way to tell a counterfeit. Aside from a different atomizer nipple, the counterfeit has a metallic inner ring while the real one has a plastic inner ring. The only problem with comparing the inner atomizers is that the fake one has a batch code of B33 or March, 2013 (it can't be March 2023 as this video was uploaded in Sept. 2022!), while your real bottle has a batch code/date of AA1/Oct. 2021. It's possible that the counterfeiter was copying the atomizer of an older bottle. I'd like to find an unboxing video on RUclips for a TF Oud Wood 2013 release. Another difference is the ingredients and formula code on your boxes. At 4:07, the formula code on the fake is ILN39013 while the real one is ILN49272. The ingredients are also different. Once again, it would be interesting to see if the ingredients and formula code were copied from an older 2013 box of Tom Ford Oud Wood, as it was released in 2007. If so, it would be interesting to find out how many times the formula code changed in the last 16+ years! Update: Looking at the fake again @ 8:00, the batch code structure doesn't make any sense. I think the two codes for Estee Lauder produced fragrances reflect the following: the first 3 digits are the bottle batch code and date. B33 would mean a March, 2013 bottle. The five digit code of 19129 is when the box was packed for sale. That date is the 129th day of 2019 or May 9, 2019 which is 6 years after the batch date! It's usually a a month or two after the batch date. The person doing the counterfeiting didn't understand that.

So the fakes have gotten even better since this video. Here's the latest scam on Mercari, which is full of counterfeits or stolen goods: The ad uses real Tom Ford bottle photos. Easy to get off the net. I received a counterfeit. Copper colored spray nozzle, second rate packaging, and at least four of the telltales shown in this video. HOWEVER, (and this is scary) the batch code on the counterfeit checks out as authentic!!!... But there is no way this is an authentic OudWood. It weighs 413 grams, has a crooked box, the bottle label is wrong, the outer cap doesn't even seat right, there are 5 lines of ingredients listed instead of four, etc. etc. BEWARE.

Here is one for you. I have a 50 and 100 ml box of Oud wood Intense and Oud mineral with a box around the flame. However the sprayer is plastic like my other legit ones, both boxes have a serial number on the inside of the box, the smell smells like my other bottles I have and perform just as well, and the boxes even have all the correct markings and matching and authentic looking batch codes on them. Even bought them form reputable dealers. Nothing tells me it’s fake. Is there a possibility the box around the flame is legit on some?
the box of this perfume is always replaced once every 2 years ... something like that ... recently there have been fakes in 50 ml ... until now there were none .... there is little chance that the 50 ml one is fake... a Tom Ford perfume from the luxury range... it is authentic if it has the serial number inside the box... if this safety element is not present, then you are surely dealing with a fake....

I just checked mine and it is the real deal whew 😅 I bought mine from harrods online but you never know sometimes fakes can go unnoticed with untrained eyes
My bottle with the cap without the packaging was 312g vs the real one you showed 308g. The caps were also the same weight. Everything else matched the real one. Did you by any chance spray yours a few times so shows lesser weight or is there any other explanation? Thank you so much

I paid half price on eBay for one of Tom ford’s perfumes I knew it was too good to be true but I was trying my luck I asked the seller if it was real she came back showing me pictures of receipt from Selfridges where she purchased it from so I asked why selling so low if it’s real? She said because it has been opened and my stupid ass believed her and went ahead to purchase it. When it arrived I was horrified it was one of the worse fakes I’ve ever come across this person listed pictures of the real perfume and sent me a fake one, the deception some people are horrible luckily EBay refunded me when I reported this person

Everything seems 100% same with the original one that you displayed except for the batch code printed on the bottom of the bottle [19:20] (mine is noticable which should belong to the fake while the ori one is not noticable right? Great video, and I have a fake that's identical to the one in this video. Received it as a gift. I knew there was something fishy about the bottle. Especially when you have over 150 bottles in your collection, you just know. The fragrance does smell good but it's missing the quality.
I just got a 50ml bottle for less than half the price (stolen tester probably) and I get a lot of rose that I didn't got in the Douglas tester. I remember it more spicy than rosy but maybe the Douglas one was old because the one I got looks pritty mich as the large bottle. No shitty glass, no shitty labels, batch Code came out as a 2021 batch but it is in the right place and the right script. Smells expensive and as far as my other fragrances all original - I think this one is a genuine one too. But so what, I got it fo 80€
Rule of thumb is to get it from a boutique, duty free at prominent airports. Avoid online, forum groups, eCommerce shops and those pretending to be luxury wholesalers. Got a friend who bought one that is like way below the retail price and he was super happy he struck a good deal, when I sprayed mine original to his, he was like dumbfounded, and after close inspection, lots of prints and box design weren’t perfect and that it should be a dead giveaway.
I'm in the market to buy Oud Wood 3.4. Interesting how both batch code numbers show up on checkfresh. B33 is 2013. AA1 is 2021. For the real Oud Wood batch code - is it stamped on the clear sticker or etched/engraved directly on the bottle? I can't tell. Also, what year should I focus on or any year but 2022. Thanks.
the year 2022 is not for you... it is not very successful... the safety element is the serial number engraved inside the upper box... if this safety element is missing, you are dealing with a fake.
2024 update: Just bought a fake from Mercari. The seller uses pics of an original, then sends me a fake. 1. Copper colored atomizer. 2.metal.atomizer ring. 3.bottle cap doesn't seat right. 4. 5 lines of ingredients text 5.412 gram weight 6.box is poor quality BUT...... the batch code checks out. How are they doing this? Are they just copying the batch code from an original bottle?
Could you help me please? I bought a 100ml version of Oud Wood but I can’t seem to get if it’s legit or fake. I had a 10 ml of Oud Wood and the 100ml smells off, it smells like more alcohol if that makes sense. They... they have different ingredient lists. WTF. How do you copy something to that extent and not copy the ingredient list? For me you can just smell the difference. If you are worried about receiving a fake TF fragrance, then you can’t afford it. If you can’t buy 3 of something from your checking account, you can’t afford it.

People are living check to check and don’t even have $500 in their account, so yes, they can’t afford this fragrance, but will put it on a credit card I’m sure… Tom Ford makes fragrances for people who wouldn’t notice it coming out of their checking account, that’s the point. It’s a luxury item. Not intended for everyone, hence the very high price. It just bothers me when people complain about getting a fake, you shouldn’t be bargain shopping for a luxury item….
I want to buy an unwanted gift from someone on marketplace and want to be able to judge if it is real. I can afford retail, I just don’t like paying more than I need to.
That has absolutely nothing to do with being worried about receiving a fake fragrance, if you’re paying the same or even a slightly discounted price tag and receive a fake then that is where the worry comes in. There are plenty of deceitful people out there that advertise these fragrances online, eBay is a big one for copies, especially for bidding on, just search it up you’ll see for yourselves. Your best bet would’ve been to just advise people to buy from a reputable retailer rather than trying to shame people… I have many Tom Ford and other top brand fragrances which I buy in person from either Selfridges or John Lewis, and even then I check it fully just out of habit. I’m not a millionaire by any means but I live comfortably, regardless it shouldn’t matter if someone wants to splurge out on themselves or on a gift now and then when they have the cash, it’s not hurting you is it, let them crack on. You’re clearly watching this video for the same reason as the rest of us so take a seat.

I received a counterfeit. Copper colored spray nozzle, second rate packaging, and at least four of the telltales shown in this video.
HOWEVER, (and this is scary) the batch code on the counterfeit checks out as authentic!!!... But there is no way this is an authentic OudWood. It weighs 413 grams, has a crooked box, the bottle label is wrong, the outer cap doesn't even seat right, there are 5 lines of ingredients listed instead of four, etc. etc. BEWARE.
Saved me from buying a fake Tom Ford oud wood…well, I purchased I was bidding on eBay then seen one cheaper on vinted, did some research and came across this and it saved me…a lot. Cancelled bud on eBay and the one on vinted was authentic. Thank you 🙏

That batch Code does exist. Could it be that it could be an old batch? In the creation date information, it says that it was created on 2019-05-09.

Here is one for you. I have a 50 and 100 ml box of Oud wood Intense and Oud mineral with a box around the flame. However the sprayer is plastic like my other legit ones, both boxes have a serial number on the inside of the box, the smell smells like my other bottles I have and perform just as well, and the boxes even have all the correct markings and matching and authentic looking batch codes on them. Even bought them form reputable dealers. Nothing tells me it’s fake. Is there a possibility the box around the flame is legit on some?
the box of this perfume is always replaced once every 2 years ... something like that ... recently there have been fakes in 50 ml ... until now there were none .... there is little chance that the 50 ml one is fake... a Tom Ford perfume from the luxury range... it is authentic if it has the serial number inside the box... if this safety element is not present, then you are surely dealing with a fake....

My bottle with the cap without the packaging was 312g vs the real one you showed 308g. The caps were also the same weight. Everything else matched the real one. Did you by any chance spray yours a few times so shows lesser weight or is there any other explanation? Thank you so much

I paid half price on eBay for one of Tom ford’s perfumes I knew it was too good to be true but I was trying my luck I asked the seller if it was real she came back showing me pictures of receipt from Selfridges where she purchased it from so I asked why selling so low if it’s real? She said because it has been opened and my stupid ass believed her and went ahead to purchase it. When it arrived I was horrified it was one of the worse fakes I’ve ever come across this person listed pictures of the real perfume and sent me a fake one, the deception some people are horrible luckily EBay refunded me when I reported this person

I just got a 50ml bottle for less than half the price (stolen tester probably) and I get a lot of rose that I didn't got in the Douglas tester. I remember it more spicy than rosy but maybe the Douglas one was old because the one I got looks pritty mich as the large bottle. No shitty glass, no shitty labels, batch Code came out as a 2021 batch but it is in the right place and the right script. Smells expensive and as far as my other fragrances all original - I think this one is a genuine one too. But so what, I got it fo 80€

Rule of thumb is to get it from a boutique, duty free at prominent airports. Avoid online, forum groups, eCommerce shops and those pretending to be luxury wholesalers. Got a friend who bought one that is like way below the retail price and he was super happy he struck a good deal, when I sprayed mine original to his, he was like dumbfounded, and after close inspection, lots of prints and box design weren’t perfect and that it should be a dead giveaway.

Could you help me please? I bought a 100ml version of Oud Wood but I can’t seem to get if it’s legit or fake. I had a 10 ml of Oud Wood and the 100ml smells off, it smells like more alcohol if that makes sense. The box in itself has those little squares but they don’t seem to be as noticable as the real version in this video. It is a 2023 batch. The fire logo got a square around it too. Anyway I could send you pictures? Would really appreciate the help as I would return it if it is fake.

If you are worried about receiving a fake TF fragrance, then you can’t afford it. If you can’t buy 3 of something from your checking account, you can’t afford it.
Tom ford retail is a rip off . Also that’s weird logic , I’m sure there’s people that can’t afford 3 cars that have a car.
@@dr1flush they can’t, most people have a negative net wort, have you looked at the credit card debt recently? The avg car payment? People are living check to check and don’t even have $500 in their account, so yes, they can’t afford this fragrance, but will put it on a credit card I’m sure… Tom Ford makes fragrances for people who wouldn’t notice it coming out of their checking account, that’s the point. It’s a luxury item. Not intended for everyone, hence the very high price. It just bothers me when people complain about getting a fake, you shouldn’t be bargain shopping for a luxury item….
I want to buy an unwanted gift from someone on marketplace and want to be able to judge if it is real. I can afford retail, I just don’t like paying more than I need to.
That has absolutely nothing to do with being worried about receiving a fake fragrance, if you’re paying the same or even a slightly discounted price tag and receive a fake then that is where the worry comes in.
There are plenty of deceitful people out there that advertise these fragrances online, eBay is a big one for copies, especially for bidding on, just search it up you’ll see for yourselves.
Your best bet would’ve been to just advise people to buy from a reputable retailer rather than trying to shame people…
I have many Tom Ford and other top brand fragrances which I buy in person from either Selfridges or John Lewis, and even then I check it fully just out of habit.
I’m not a millionaire by any means but I live comfortably, regardless it shouldn’t matter if someone wants to splurge out on themselves or on a gift now and then when they have the cash, it’s not hurting you is it, let them crack on.
You’re clearly watching this video for the same reason as the rest of us so take a seat.
