I recently bought a counterfeit bottle of Sauvage Elixir from a 'reputable' seller on a marketplace app in Australia for just under retail cost and as soon as i saw the box i knew it was a fake. The Dior logo text was thicker than it should be and the kerning (gap between individual pairs of letters) was really janky. The U and V were touching while there was a huge gap between the V and the A. When i compared the fonts to a sample i jad received directly from Dior i could tell that it was also the wrong font for Sauvage. The CD sticker seal on the box was not aligned with the middle of the box and the seam in the cellophane was not in the middle of one side like every other box of Dior fragrance I've seen; it was almost at the back on one side. Also, the indent on the front panel was missing and none of the text was centre aligned, neither with the front panel, nor with any other text. I reported it to the marketplace who said they take the sale of counterfeit goods extremely seriously, yet the listing is still up and they've sold several more since i returned mine. The also removed my review which pointwd out all the issues to look out for.
Spotting anything fake comes down to these principles. The mistakes are always in the details and usually the font. I show people these details on coins all the time. I have been follower this one influencer who does real vs fake fragrances. But, without an authentic real fragrance it is impossible to compare them to one another. Incredible.
Great video and information for a newbie. Thank you. I was in Spain recently and was looking for a Tom Ford perfume. I strolled into a rather nice looking perfume/collectables shop in Benalmadena and found Tobacco Vanille. It looked fully legit. I was tempted to purchase it, but then saw the price. Around 100 Euros for 100ml, and they were willing to deal. Nope... who knows what's in that bottle. I ended up getting it at duty-free while waiting for my flight. Having not really been into higher-end fragrances, that's a lot to pay, but at least I know that it's real.
Purchased a Bond. No 9 from a big online discounter, when I got the perfume, everything appears legit, however, several weeks later I started to notice a foul odor from the perfume , the smell changed , became foul. I couldn't get a refund so i gave it as a gift to my father in law, he liked the smell. A week ago I went to Saks and smelled the same perfume, smelled great, for sure I either got sold a fake, or a perfume that had been sitting around in storage for years and had spoiled.
Chat they got me with a fake sauvage elixer.. they have fakes for everything now! i seen tom ford, creed, many designer fragrances, all on the FB market. Yall be safe!
I still have a big problem with reformulations which seem to only add to the confusion. If they want to rename a reformulations fine but i don't want to check batch coeds to made sure I get the same consistency as one I might have purchased before and I'm sure the sellers don't appreciate the hassle of being second guessed or falsely accused. That's seems far too exhausting.

I really appreciate this video Ash, Please make videos of this type. because some of us don't have the money to buy them at the sephora, Macy's, Dillards been at discounters sometimes they are too expensive . I just purchased at Mercari ADG EDT. Person was posting pictures of the real one. When I received it I knew it was a fake they've improved the packaging and the bottle it's hard to tell but if you look really close you'll be able to tell them apart. As soon as I sprayed it I confirmed it was a fake. Also purchase from another person Tom Ford Neroli and Sauvage EDT. They looked like the real thing. Once I received them and opened them, I could tell they were fake. Mercari has some honest sellers, but you have some that are selling fakes. If you can do something from Mercari purchases. Most of them post real pictures. I'm sure with your expertise you'll be able to tell right away.

Just yesterday I received a notice from Mecari that the bottle of Armani Code Profumo I sold is being refused from the buyer because they believe It's fake. They may be right, I bought it 99% full on eBay 6 months ago and never thought twice about it being fake. The buyer says the bottle is bigger than it should be and it lasts only about 15 to 30 minutes. I look forward to getting the bottle back and seeing if it has a lot of the tell tale signs of it being a fake.
I come to check my Sauvage Elixir as I bought it on eBay for £80 over a year ago. What was worrying me was the silver on the sprayer and collar is flaking slightly. But it must be nuclear elixir doing it. And it's real as it passed every test you mentioned.
Mine sounds the same as what you have. Do you think it’s real? I have two bottles. Both from different places and both smell the exact same but my call doesn’t line up correctly on one. They both last the same amount of time
Problem with all of this is the buyer doesn’t have a box to compare when purchasing. We wouldn’t know if we were taken unless we brought our boxes to the store and compared.
When you look at the bottom of the Elixir boxes in this video, notice that the real Elixir has a code stamped in gloss black to the right side of the words “Natural Spray.” It reads 1CO5.The fake does not. Also, the fake has a code stamp to the right side of the “recycle” emblem in a white font similar in color to the rest of the print. It reads 3WO2. The real one does not. The color of the font on the bottom of the box of the fake is brighter than the real one as well.

I have only been doing this hobby for like 2-3 years and I have almost succumbed to these scam clones. Especially the Dior Sauvage ones coz they under cut all og’s by a substantial margin. I appreciate that you do this for us frag rookies. Thank you
Kilian angel share does have the k on top of the atomizer and I got mine from Sephora and it also has a slight dot inside the cap but not as exaggerated as the fake so they must of changed it and like how you say everything has to be align with the cap and bottle is true
This is Suuuupppeerrrr interesting
given the fact that this is a thing
and we have to be aware & careful.
But also SUPER DISAPPOINTING
that some people are doing that.
I have been follower this one influencer who does real vs fake fragrances. But, without an authentic real fragrance it is impossible to compare them to one another. Incredible.
You are provinding great public service to the community. Please make it part of your content.
Thank you for the video, as always you do such an Awesome job.
Nice video and a great idea to do like a "spot the fake" series!
Having not really been into higher-end fragrances, that's a lot to pay, but at least I know that it's real.
but comparaison only work if you have the OG on hand
and by buying online , they could just post pics of the genuine product
Thanks for doing this ash and also for not rushing through it. I'd have clones any day over this utter garbage.
A week ago I went to Saks and smelled the same perfume, smelled great, for sure I either got sold a fake, or a perfume that had been sitting around in storage for years and had spoiled.
same, got a spoiled roja from jomashop. never again!
Was waiting for a video like this!
I got scammed last week for a Bleu de Chanel EDP. She even made a fake receipt for a local Perfume store which made me decide it was real. Turned out it is a fake from China after watching some YT videos 😢
Cannot get my money back through this marketplace sadly
Awesome information as always! I wonder if fake clones exist... is there still enough markup to justify these
I remember Amazon had the Valentino- Born in Roma's for $45, and when I checked where they were from, they were a third party seller. And when I went to their profile, yep that was a red flag right there 🚩🚩
What was the seller % rate?
The variety of textures in the kisluxs pack is impressive. From smooth leather to textured suede, there's something for everyone.
Bravo Ash for being the first influencer/Reviewer to bring this to the community
There are a few RUclipsrs who have even better videos comparing fakes to originals. Been there for years. Just search "fake aventus", for example.
Just sharing some info for others as I was a little alarmed to find out the K was not on the original run bottles. I'm in Ontario, Canada & I purchased my Angel's Share by Kilian from a local Sephora. I have a newer bottle (Jan 2024) the K is in fact engraved in the atomizer after the first run of the fragrance.
Came looking for this. My l'Heure verte atomiser has a K engraved too
@xtrmnatrpv my thought is that the dupes are made to look more like the most recently released design. My foam insert also has my bottle sitting lower in it's "display" like the duped bottle in Ash's video.
@@KDGFishing Mine not really but the sticker is on the bottom as on his dupe.
I just purchased mine from Maxaroma and I also have the K on the atomizer, and the sticker is also on the bottom of the box
This video was really interesting and entertaining, too. Thank you!
This was a great video. Would love more of these in the future with successful lines such as JPG le male or Azzaro Wanted
Please do more!!

-Chanel Allure Line
-Valentino Uomo Born in Roma Line
-Gentleman Line
Thanks Ash!
amazing video, i would be glad to see more videos like this it would really help
Really enjoying the mailing list. Thanks for doing that, Ash 😀👍
Great educational video. Need more lists like this👍
HEY kislux I have been watching you for years and im so proud of where you have made it! I love you so much! Also thanks for making my day
I really appreciate this video Ash, Please make videos of this type. because some of us don't have the money to buy them at the sephora, Macy's, Dillards been at discounters sometimes they are too expensive .
First it was whiskey, and now cologne...I think I will now give up the hobby altogether...🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Originals are too expensive, so I guess this will be a win for the legitimate CLONES...😂😂😂😂
So super easy to avoid…
1. Purchase inside reputable stores
2. Don’t purchase from Aliexpress, and other non legit online sources
3. Don’t purchase from eBay
4. Don’t purchase from anyone you have doubts with.
I literally bought the same Georgie Armani code from the same person a month ago, thank you Ash. Now e-bay is refunding my money and letting me keep the bottles as well
Important video. I remember a batch of like 200 Issey Miyake Pulse of the Night popping up on eBay for like $49.99 CAD shipping from Kuwait. I immediately knew it was BS. They sold tons of them
We should destroy our original empty bottles instead of selling them in the market and giving cheaters a chance to cheat.
Great video! Please keep doing this kind of fake busting❤
They both last the same amount of time
Next do one on the fake club de nuit bottles being sold
Thank you Ash for what you do! 🔥🤘🔥🤘
Problem with all of this is the buyer doesn’t have a box to compare when purchasing. We wouldn’t know if we were taken unless we brought our boxes to the store and compared.
Scammers are carefully watching your clip. They are saying " ummmm what did we wrong?"
My mom bought one kislux and she loves it. It had been there for over 10 years when she went out with it.
great content. more of this please. I also don't mind the length of the video
Thanks for doing this. It's scary, but also fascinating.
