When project are under pressure, people start to react in tons of ways : your team becomes nervous, they try to protect themselves from the pressure which translates into them refusing to do what is best for the project for example; your management stop supporting you and becomes critical of how you work, etc. All the advice you give work fine as long as there's plenty of time to talk, listen and understand. But when there's no more time, then everyone becomes hard to drive. Any advice on how to manage the pressure ? (when the boss doesn't see pressure as a problem :-) )
Hi Stefan, Good question. And there are three aspects here: 1. What does it mean "there’s no more time"? It means you, as a project manager, didn’t plan well or didn’t communicated the required time and effort to finish the work. I get it. A boss or a client may be demanding. But it’s your job to provide the evidence that shows the required effort. And you need to justify your estimates. You can’t fix it right away. But it’s a lesson learned that you need to take for the next project - add enough time for all project activities. 2. When time is running out priorities become critical. Not all activities on a project are equally valuable. Likewise, not all project scope is equally important for the project success. You need to negotiate de-scope something and you need to focus on top priority items. You’ll be surprise on how many things you can stop doing on a project and still it will end up well. 3. When your management start to pressure on you, you should protect your team from that pressure. They should do the work as you planned.
During your first month, I would focus on helping the team to do their job by removing distractions, clarifying requirements, removing unnecessary meetings, etc. Show them that you are here to help, not to manage them. Team hate "I know it all" managers, So, avoid making any drastic changes to the way they work in the beginning. Work with them and suggest small improvements. Once they see that you help them do their job, they’ll accept you in the team. Overall, you need to earn the right to lead them.

Only resumes sent with this paragraph and supporting documents will be considered.] Can you please explain what kind of documents are required and how should i write them. Please i need your help
Hi Wassim, I assume that you copy-pasted it from the job description. Then, it means you need to provide any type of documents that certify your skills and knowledge. It can be a latter of recommendation. You can copy recommendations from your LinkedIn profile (but include a link to your account). Then you can send any certifications that you hav like CAPM, PMP, CSM, etc. If you have project management education - your diploma is a good fit here. Likewise, if you were in a leadership position you can send the portfolio of projects you worked on before. You need to send a short paragraph but you can also provide a full cover letter to explain your skills in details. That’s all that you can practically get. If it’s a separate test to "provide a list of project management documents that you use" then it’s a different story. Please clarify if that’s the case.

Will that be enough? In my previous role i was electrical department manager and i was in charge for several projects together. I think this will be enough. What do you think?
Wassim, yes, that should definitely be enough. But here are a few insider’s secrets. First of all, your CV is the main contributor to the process. Recruiters scan through it for a few seconds and may discard it if they are confused, find an error, or your CV is hard to SCAN. Only if it gets through this "quick check" they’ll actually read the CV and all other documents you provide. So, you need a CV that radiates that you have project management skills and you can lead people. Second, don’t expect to get the job offer or even an interview from the first try (unless you have a really attractive CV). One PM job opening attracts 250 qualified candidates. So, statistically, you need to apply to many jobs rather than focusing solely on one opportunity.
