OH MY LORD!! I could not believe this showed up when I went on RUclips tonight!! I was a student of Mr. MacNeil's in 1973, when he brought his School of Piping, to Kansas City MO. At the time, I played with the Kansas City St. Andrews Pipes & Drums. Ian Paton was the PM at the time and Bob Watson was my beloved teacher, who took me under his wing. (I've tried to locate Bob over the years, but have been unsuccessful. If anyone reading this has any information on Bob, I would greatly appreciate it being forwarded to me) If I recall correctly, it was a week long seminar. I was just 13 and quite honestly, had no idea what "presence" I was in at the time!! What a magnificent man and dedicated teacher!! As I got older, I've considered myself so fortunate to have been under his tutelage for that short period of time and I am forever grateful to him and my experience!! May god bless Mr. MacNeil and his tremendous contribution to The Piping World!! "piper john"
One of my most favorite piece of ceol mhor and the first I learned, as much as possible, I DON'T use the printed score, as told me my late friend Willie M. Mac Donald of Inverness, who was the very last disciple of " auld John " Mac Donald of Inverness Piobaireachd lies in one's heart not on sheet of paper, provided you have " the ceol "in your spirit
Would you kindly be able to record the entire album if you please? I used to listen to it as a boy many years ago and no longer have a turntable much less the album sadly. Much appreciated with thanks!
Well, there's me... I don't use sheet music, so I usually express a Piobaireachd with as much "rubato" as I can. I.e. Expression. The reason why you say "robots" is because they rely way too much on f**ing sheet music. I'm a total disciple of Willie Ross.

A great piper and teacher, sadly missed.
Great control, but full of feeling. Such a beautiful tune.

Somebody tell this guy piping isn't a religion
Piping is not a religion, it's just deeply spiritual.
