    I was walking in town for a quick shop, a 5 minute walk, and as I reached the street there was a group of teenagers walking in front of me, who took the same route as I, and they were carrying stuff for camping including two speakers, which were playing this on loud volume. Best walk ever.

      You have to imagine it is a small town, located almost inside a forest (explaining the camping stuff), extremely quiet on sunday, a very beautiful town built in pink bricks, full of autumn leaves, no cars, no noise... just the Morrowind theme.

    Morrowind. If you played it when it came out you'd know how satisfying it was to find something in the game that none of your friends had found. There was no like social media then, so you had to share basically everything in person. I remember my friend hadn't found the falling man near seyda neen yet, and when he finally found it he went to me the next day and said, and I quote "DUDE, HAVE YOU SEEN THE FALLING DUDE? HIS SPELLS ARE LIKE SOOOOOOO RARE!!" I will never forget the look on his face when I told him I'd found it when the game first released.
    Anyway this theme song is da bomb!

      haha. new generation will never get it, i remember when me and my friend actually printed maps of morrowind s world and started to compare where we got x and y loots. i still remember when i got that armor east of vivec city in a cave. or when i got to the far south of vivec only to find an underwater cave in an island with some awesome loot. of course i had to lvl up before getting that loot. MASTERPIECE

At level 20 i was ready to fight Dagoth Ur (i think that's what he's called) BEST GAME EVER!!!!

    If you haven't played it, I don't want to spoil anything...but these few bars tell the entire main line quest of Morrowind, in all its power and glory. Sad, sweet, poignant, tragic, triumphant at the end...with a militaristic beat driving it all. The story of Nerevar takes over 200 hours to play out. It shifts back and forth...love, betrayal, deceit, death, resurrection, victory, and the touch of a god. Or several gods, actually. Never mind the age of the game, its low-rez quality...Morrowind is timeless. When I installed and started the sequel, Oblivion...and heard the opening notes of a fully orchestral "Nerevar Rising"...I almost wept, it was so...nostalgic. I couldn't help thinking, this is *my* theme. I've...come home.

    I was just a little girl when this game came out, but I remember sitting for hours, just watching my dad play in our study. I remember making a character myself. I didn't know how to play or how to do any quests, but I just liked walking around the world, listening to the music.

    I only wish I could play Morrowind, and feel the same wonder I did when I was a kid.
    Discovering new places, going through stories and quests, it was amazing, and used to be my favorite game of all time. Oblivion and Skyrim never really hooked me the way Morrowind did. Neither felt as unique and vast, even though they were fine games. Neither caught me with the same excitement and joy Morrowind brought. I'll never forget how fun it was, but I can't play it these days, it has none of that same glorious joy I felt so long ago.
    T-T I miss you, Morrowind.

    Morrowind+Theme = Childhood
    Oblivion+Theme = Your life is stressfull. You are looking for an oppinion to flee reality. You see TES IV on a shelf. You remember you played TES III. You buy it.
    Skyrim+Theme = Now you are ready. You're a man now. Go flip Chuck Norris the Bird.
    Now = You are listening to this melody and feel nostalgia. A single tear rolls down you eye as you realise you are not a child anymore.
    You hope...
    You hope...
    For the Elder Scrolls VI.
    And when you die... the last thing you hear... is this melody...
    Your lifes anthem.
    The beginning.
    And the end.
    For now.
    Sovngarde awaits you.

    What Morrowind had going for it was it's amazing atmosphere. In terms of wonder and uniqueness, the only things that come close from modern TES titles are the Shivering Isles expansion and Black reach in Skyrim. Morrowind was so unique and different that you couldn't help but want to learn more about, explore it to its fullest. It helped that your decisions mattered and you were truly made to work for your place in the world. Skyrim and Oblivion, though great games, had you as the center of attention from minute one. In Morrowind you were nobody, and stayed that way until you made a name for yourself; how you did that was totally up to you.
    No one can contest that Oblivion and Skyrim are massive mechanical strides forward, in terms of the perk system, graphics, the whole nine yards. But equally so TES has lost a lot from previous titles like Morrowind and if the trend continues, we'll have ourselves another Assassin's Creed saga. That's why I'll never take the "It's nostalgia." argument seriously. Sure nostalgia can exaggerate my memories, but that doesn't change the fact that Morrowind had qualities Oblivion and Skyrim don't. It shouldn't be too much to expect a consistent level of story telling and atmosphere from a series, it should be a given.

    • @stuckupcurlyguy
      @stuckupcurlyguy 10 лет назад +2

      100% agree. I remember getting to Blackreach and being amazed at the concept - another world below the world of Skyrim. That was my favourite part about that game too, unfortunately instead of being full of lore and unique treasure and puzzles, it was mostly empty, with a dragon as the easter egg. Never played Shivering Isles but I heard it was great.
      Nothing I've played since has topped the quality of Morrowind's raw concepts and execution. It's a shame, especially since I'm sick of playing cookie cutter Tolkien-copies set in medieval Europe. The Witcher had some nice moments in terms of weird monsters and art, but was nowhere near as complete as Morrowind.

      How does oblivion you at the center from the beginning. True it makes you meet the emperor in the beginning, but after the sewers, you can do what ever, and no one knows who the hell you ate until you save the emperors son. I personally think oblivion is the best and the had the best feeling to it. Btw...I will always love the thieves guild storyline the most.

      I read on a wiki that this theme tells the story of the elder scrolls universe. I don't know if it was credible or not but nonetheless it was very interesting. According to that wiki, the drums at the beginning are lorkhans heart and the ongoing melody symbolize the growth of the mortal races, and finally at the end, when the drums slow down and fade is when the world will end and a new one will be born. Unfortunately, I'm too lazy to get a link but you can probably find it.

      jeff persson That's roughly only about 1.3 years in-game, that's shocking to you? Combined over my main World of Warcraft characters, I have roughly 3 years of actual play time, that's 3 years, logged in, doing something, WoW actually records that per character. And I effectively didn't even play during the last two expansions, and haven't played at all for six months.
      I'm married, have a kid, and I enlisted in the Air Force even, ie it's not a trait of just "no-lifes". When you put 15 dollars per month into a game at least, you are tempted to make every cent worth it. If I wasn't raiding, I was questing or PvPing, if not that, then exploring, glitching, farming or simply sitting in Stormwind enjoying the view of the lake while I ate a sandwich.
      Sure beats getting drunk in a bar every day, waking up, and completely forgetting those 7 hours.

    It would be awesome if in the last elder scrolls game, it turns out that all of the heroes through the series have been reincarnations of the same soul - Nerevar, who may have himself been the reincarnation of someone else. Akatosh, or maybe even Anu, could have chosen one being to come into nirn whenever they were needed. The Eternal Champion, The hero of Daggerfall, The Nerevarine, The hero of Kvatch, The Dragonborn, were all one being reincarnated to save tamriel when they were needed. The final game should let us go to Aetherius, maybe even to fight Sithis himself?
    P.S There needs to be a game about Akavir, that would be awesome.

    I started playing this game recently on my crappy parralels windows XP. I wanted to get Skyrim but I didd't think my computer could handle it so I just went with Morrowind. When I first started playing the game I was exited but I after I started the game was being ruined by glitches, graphical and whatever the word for not graphical is, also I found the game boring. but then I heard the main theme. I pushed me to keep going. Then the next morning the game ran perfectly. I still didn't really like the game but the title theme forced me to play on and as I got farther the game got so interesting! I understood all the game mechanics and now I'm completely satisfied! I think if the amazing title theme wasn't in this game I would have just not even bothered to try to have fun and just beet the game because i spent 20$ on it. And while the game does get slow at times I can always fix that with a little cheating :3

    • @lummpyblaze2944
      @lummpyblaze2944 10 лет назад +7

      Also, completely unrelated. Why is everyone freaking out over bethesda not making Elder Scrolls VI? Skyrim released 5 years after oblivion and it's been only 3 years since skyrim's release. I know they haven't announced out but Bethesda probably is just waiting for skyrim to not become as popular so either they get more people to buy TES 6 or to not overwhelm people with more massive games when many people still aren't done with Skyrim

      Lummpy Blaze Fallout 4 will come before the next TES game. And the fact you're criticizing Morrowind's graphical and physical capabilities is disgusting. The game is 12 years old. It's by far the best TES game, and probably the best sandbox game that will ever be made.

    One of my first jobs out of high school was working at a small town's only video game store. We didn't get much traffic early in the mornings and I always had to set up games on demo. I kept Morrowind playing because the title screen would be a continual loop of this theme. I hadn't played it at the time, but I knew I'd get to it eventually. Little did I realize that once I DID dive into Vvardenfell, it would be the beginning of a gaming obsession spanning over a decade. While I enjoyed Oblivion and adored Skyrim, Morrowind, with all its flaws, still holds a special place in my nerdy heart.

The Installation of the game plays the main theme throughout on loop and well we actually never played Morrowind, no instead we just carried on wrapping presents and chatting all the while this insanely amazing theme played on endless loop and not one of us decided it was too much or we needed to change the song or anything. I played this game through soon after it came out. The possibility of weaving quests together to carve out a bona fide adventure was second to none at that time. Here's my unforgettable story:
    I started out in Seyda Neen (like everyone who ever set out to play the game). After I got my freedom back, geared up and smoked the local bandit hideout out, I packed up and following the signs and instructions I set out for Balmora to meet with Caius Cosades. On my way though at a crossroad I heard a scream out of nowhere which nearly made me shit myself. Looking left and right, I just had a figure plummetting right in front of my face. Stabbing him to make sure he stays levelled (I won't be fooled twice), I rifled through his possessions, finding the mage's journal explaining his attempt to revolutionize traveling and a scroll. Why not? I summoned its powers and went flying for long seconds. Luckily I used it facing the general direction of the sea and had a soft landing of sorts. After swimming back to the land for a mile (galley slave past does have its pros I guess) I ended up in a tiny fishing village. I went to the local tavern (which is quite a fancy name for that establishment) and started mingling with the locals. One of them had an errand to ask of me, which is to deliver an Argonian slave of his to Balmora. I agreed to his request as I was headed there as well. On the road though the slave approached me and begged to help him escape. He had to get to an Imperial port called Ebonheart where he could board a ship to sail off with the help of an organization that helps the Argonian expats. What the hell, being the roleplayer I am, being sympathetic to his cause I went back on my previous promise and changed course towards Ebonheart. After a more or less uneventful trip we made it to the port, where we parted ways, the now ex-slave being very thankful. Naturally my next stop was the local inn (a good roleplayer loves his pixel mead). There I picked up a rumor about a magic armor stolen by a renegade of the Imperial Army. After an arduous search for clues about the thief and the armor I managed to find the entrance to his hideout. It wasn't an easy fight but the thief got slain and his possessions were now all mine. Having no intent of returning the armor, I stuck with it and indeed it was good enough that I haven't changed it to any other through the whole game.
    Mind you this all happened before internet and walkthroughs as such weren't common so I did all this just by going with the flow of the game. One of my all-time greatest gaming experiences.

      Hm, I don't know. Exploring Vvardenfell without all of the dialogue just wouldn't be the same. Since the Skyrim engine doesn't have dialogue boxes, you'd have to read everything through the subtitles in dialogue... yeesh...

      goakiller900 You mean the theme song was based on this theme song? If so, I don't see that at all. I was asking what the hell he meant, because the way he worded it was atrocious. I couldn't tell what he was talking about.

    Morrowind: Best storyline and final boss of the Elder Scrolls series.
    Oblivion: Best cities by far in the Elder Scrolls series.
    Skyrim: Best soundtrack and surrounding nature in the Elder Scrolls series.
    That's my opinion at least.

      CommanderM117 "Combat" has never ever been what makes an Elder Scrolls game.

    • @CommanderM117
      @CommanderM117 7 лет назад

      it part of it plus the combat has to work or it start not being fun there are many thing that make a good TES game one of the big ones is it RPG

    • @randomteaguy
      @randomteaguy 7 лет назад +1

      CommanderM117 That was hard to comprehend, but you're wrong Skyrim, Morrowind, and Oblivion were very good received games, not for combat, for lore, TES isn't about combat and I don't think that it's combat is boring, yeah it can be slow towards the beginning, but doesn't it make up for it once you get all the good stuff? there's so much to do in an Elder Scrolls game, how does that make it boring? No one plays an Elder Scrolls game for combat, at least from the people I know.
