Sorry, but huge disagreement with you on this one.
      1. Cops are the first responder to 99% of fatal accidents. Watching a woman ignore emergency vehicles trying to pass her is not only a pet peeve, but it’s a public danger.
      2. The only way a rational adult driver could drive for 5 miles without noticing a police cruiser directly behind her, is somebody who has her cell phone on her lap or is carry on a conversation while she is driving.
I think this woman was in a hurry, was in her own little world, and completely unapologetic for it. When she committed a crime by not allowing an emergency vehicle to pass her, she is now a public nuisance, and needs to be taken off the street. I see nothing wrong here.

The woman was pregnant, bawling and had the added stress of her husband having had surgery while she was at work. Yet, the cop arrests her out of spite because he refuses to believe that she isn’t lying. She stuck to her story even facing a jail cell and the cop still insists she is lying. Actually the officer did protect us and may have saved a life or two, including that of the pregnant lady and her baby.
Traffic accidents kill MANY more persons than crime, and distracted driving is in the top-3 main contributors.
That lady was not in a mental condition to drive, similar to driving under the influence.
Now, that doesn't mean that I agree with what the officer did. Not at all.
The officer could have just gave her the tickets, spend a couple of minutes explaining to her something similar to what I explained above and how that level of distraction endangers her own life and that of other persons sharing the streets, and get a commitment from her to pay more attention.
Or, if he didn't think that the woman could achieve the required level of attention, tell her "I can't let you drive in this condition, but instead of arresting you let me take you to the hospital, you can get an Uber from there, go home, rest, and then you or your husband pick up the car when you feel better". THAT would be sere and protect.

Probably, he was just fulfilling the daily arrest quota. If he had no arrests for a couple of days, it would go against his performance. We are all aware that most police officers in the force do not have degrees. Many of them served in the military right after graduating from high school, and after a few years in military service, they would apply to join the police force. A study was conducted to compare the behavior of police officers with degrees versus those without degrees when dealing with a suspect. The study revealed that police officers with a college education tend to be more polite, while those without degrees often exhibit excessive force and ego when dealing with suspects.

If she was going for that amount of time and distance, both a dash cam and body cam could have been used to prove the validity of the officer's arrest. It does sound excessive that she went that long without noticing flashing lights and having this officer behind her. It's likely the officer lied about that detail and was just frustrated over the idea of someone not yielding to his authority immediately. That on top of the overwhelming amount of complaints and investigations, that's a likely sign of an officer who's a problem maker than a problem solver.

@@946towguy2 you do know she's a pregnant lady going to pick up her husband from after his surgery and on a tight schedule due to her lunch break. She obviously had other things on her mind at the moment. Any officer after noticing she was pregrant would realize she is not trying to flee and take it a bit easier on her - unless you are a total prick. Which is exactly what this dude is! Adding all this unnecessary stress to a pregnant lady instead of literally having a two minute conversation to sort it out! Dude is a total asshole.
