Jeff, this was so well spoken as always. I’m 22 years old wife and a baby work night shift and run my own business. I live in SE Kansas have dramatically changed the way I hunt this year opposed to two years ago when I first started bowhunting. Currently it is October 16 at four in the morning, and I am on my way to some permission ground that I have access to where I have two shooters pretty well patterned. This will be my first sit of the year and I am fairly confident that I am going to see a shooter on Hoof today at some point. Two years ago, I probably had hunted close to 20 times at this point in the season. But today with a low of 31° in the morning and peak pressure all week right at shooting light and a very good wind for access I have really learned to hunt smarter and I do believe that over the years it will pay off. thank you for all of your videos. They are very educational and entertaining.
Nailed it. The "Hunter Industrial Complex" tells me that I should be on the road until Jan hunting. The "I want to stay married and see my kids" tells me no, and that I need to pick my spots/times more selectively, even on public. Exactly what I needed to hear. Thanks for the wisdom.
We had a cold front here in Western Pennsylvania. It rained all night last night. High winds 70 some degrees yesterday. Today it was in the '60s like low 60s. I shot a nine point buck. Thanks again Jeff. Cold fronts really do work😊
Thanks for the pep talk! I've heard much of this from you before. I was almost craving to hear it again. Just need to follow through on the application. It's a balance of many things. I love being out in the woods hunting. But, being smart about it is a must! I enjoy learning and tweaking my hunting time. Keep up the great education you share with us all!
It is an extremely breezy weekend here in Wisconsin. Planned on some tree stand time this weekend but Mother Nature dictated a weekend of projects around the house instead. Hoping next weekend will be better. Thanks as always for the great info Jeff
Hey Jeff! Thankfully I was able to pass along everything I learned from you guys to my son and he shot his first deer today! He told me yesterday that the temperature was dropping and Jeff says to hunt the front! Dropped a nice 8 pointer!
Are you hunting one property consistently? Do you live on it or close to it? I have one property I hunt and live 3+ hours away (live in Detroit area and hunt Central Michigan). I hunt around work schedule, family schedule, hunting partner schedule (i won't hunt alone). How do I hunt smarter with these parameters? I mostly hunt weekends and a week period with opening of rifle in the middle.
just watched your mock scrape videos. how far away from a feeder would you place it. Currently only have 1 camera and not sure if I should have the scrape that close. not very many trees to choose from to hang one. Still a rookie at this but trying to do it right and learn and your channel is helping a lot so thank you very much
Lots of great tips here. The only day I hunt regardless of the weather is opening day of gun season. Other than that it’s a calculated approach based on the weather and what information the cameras have been relaying.
That's me right now. I took last week off of work with not much to show for it. I want to be in the woods right now, but it's too hot and windy. I don't expect any deer to be out until after night. The rest of the week is looking good though.
One in the freezer 1st sit, now can focus on doing it properly rest of this yr on my whs designed 23 acres. Guilty in yrs past but never owned my own piece till this yr.
Well, some stands are rut stands, some places better staying out, of until the prime time of the year I've been out only a few times now this year I'm pretty much waiting for the rut where I hunt is mostly by big Ag fields with a few patches of woods I try to stay out of those beding areas as much as I can to I love hunting but the timing has to be right otherwise your just burning up your hunting stands before things get good fun and exciting in the deer woods
Im tryin to hunt smart this year...we own a skinny 40acres and hav a massive buck coming in. Hes usually hr after dark or hr and a half before light...i think he beds off our property but this buck would be one for a lifetime
Not gonna lie, I've been way pickier this year about when I go out and timing it around when I leave work to choose where I go. I've had maybe 3 or 4 hunts since opening day (it's mid Oct now) and I've had significantly more encounters by NOT being in the woods constantly. I pick spots others don't want/like and did a ton of early season scouting in the field and cell cameras starting since before turkey season even. It's been great because I'm not losing workhours/pay from taking time off and still seeing more of what I actually want because I didn't realize I was burning my blinds and spots.
Last year I hunted during the hut nearly every morning and evening and midday worked as self employed landscaper. Ended up in the hospital with adrenal failure, and didn't get a buck
Hopefully tonight Dylan! You have to be very careful because if you spook them in the dark your morning is typically over. I don't think we will sit in the morning until towards the end of October.
Unfortunately because of EHD south west Michigan there is no more deer they're all dying.. it's sad. We as hunter have to think about the future . The next3-5 years is going to be tough.. I've seen all sorts of age groups of bucks and does dead all around swamps water or dry creek beds

Well how did you do ??
And yes life sneaks it's way into hunting, haha.

Thanks a lot Mark! Super breezy...should be really good during the next couple of days tho
What would you consider an adequate temperature drop to be (on avg)? Next week I got 63 -> 57 degree drop and just not sure if it’s enough?

You are absolutely correct on this one Jeff! Great video and even greater advice. Love your channel!

You are welcome! Man that front looks very good
You could always put a couch in your hunting blind... Thats one way to do it.
Hey, Jeff. Always need to rehear this. Discipline is key. Less is more.
You are very welcome! That discipline is so tough...even if you know it!

Last year I hunted during the hut nearly every morning and evening and midday worked as self employed landscaper. Ended up in the hospital with adrenal failure, and didn't get a buck
That’s rough
Went out this morning and didn't see anything and i always get daylight deer here

Right place right time. That’s pretty much deer hunting

Morning Connor!
First
You sure were Kurt!
Id rather spend more time in the woods and still have alot success. I actually enjo6 being in the woods. You're more of a bragging rights elitist 😂😂
Or he has a family and goals.
These people must be unemployed
Most likely self employed
