    can you not use any waffer.... so it will work with any keys ?

  • @scorcher617
    @scorcher617 Год назад +1

    You don't have to take wafers out. Use your depth keys one by one and see which wafers are even with cylinder. Then you know that wafer is number of key you have in it write down all of the ones that are even till you have them all in the right order. Should work with any cylinder lock you can see pins. I could be wrong.

    What's the best way to remove the cap from the cylinder? I'm learning to to rekey and I was wondering if there's any special tool? Good video by the way!!!

    • @californialocksmithco
      @californialocksmithco  5 лет назад +1

      Well, there is a tool named “gator cap removal” it removes caps pretty well. But I just use regular needle nose pliers, usually when I remove the cap I sometimes chew it up pretty bad, so I go ahead and replace the cap. The face caps are pretty darn cheap simply pop it back on and boom 💥

    I have a hack to this. Poor man code cut your 1 side. Then put it in the feelergauge side of the key machine and zip it onto a second blank. Now flip second blank. Cut back side of key. Switch keys and finish the first one. You have successfully made 2 keys. If it's going on a chipped key you could always use a standard metal blank for the second key as a spare courtesy key. Good backup in case main key gets locked in the car

    • @californialocksmithco
      @californialocksmithco  5 лет назад

      You do have a point. However some vehicles only give you certain cuts on doors, you will need to first cut a (draft) key so that if somehow you commit an error, you won’t waste a transponder key. Look at it like a assurance. Also some people might argue, why not Lishi the ignition lock cylinder. Well some ignition locks have side bars and Lishi tools do not work on those applications.

      @420RastaMonZack420 5 лет назад +1

      @@californialocksmithco yes. I agree drafts entirely on brass blanks does make more sense. And as you said in the video you can normally instacode the last 2. Either way you find it definitely a cheap metal blank for drafting. Love your channel. And thank you for responding, and catching things I missed in my own advice. Subbed
