I've finally found another video of Dwayne Croft singing Joey, Joey, Joey. I thought it had disappeared from RUclips forever. I remember on the first post of this Croft recording, some woman said that if he sang this in Vegas, women would throw their panties onstage. He certainly sings this beautifully.
I think that Horne's and von States' rendition of "Bussom Buddies" was absolutely brilliant. There you really hear the difference between singing with a sound and belting this type of music, which far too many opera trained singers i think, especially of the older generation, usually do.
@@brucer9572 So true, but many opera singers that tried to sing non operatic music often belt even if they do need to. Maybe it is a matter of what the was tought and that is to sing with a big voice. The younger generation is often much better on to damping their voices. Probably because have, at least somewhat, another training then the older generation singers had.
Marilyn Horne made a Carnegie Hall show with Barbara Cook. In 2002 and 2003.They sang the Blossom Buddies and The grass is greener duets and other songs .I dont know if they sang some operatic duets maybe The Barcarolle from Offenbach Les Contes de Hoffmann but Im.not sure .I wish there were a recording of one of these performances.
There is nothing I loath more than opera singers singing music theatre...... It's no more appropriate than listen to Patti LuPone belt her way through Lucia. It's a travesty.....
Musical Theater is essentially Americanized opera. If you want to be queeny about it...then don't buy a ticket. Many of us CAN and DO sing both. Some roles in musical theater require operatic technique to sing, but I'm guessing you wouldn't know anything about that.
So refreshing to not have cameras in constant motion through the show.
THANK YOU. I've been looking for this for ages. The best version of Bosom Buddies ever.
So true, they are exellent.
Wow! Madeline Horne! Thank you!
I miss Bea Arthur's slow burn, but it is great to hear these two friends with glorious voices have fun with song.
Dayum, Fleming's attack on that C to close I Could Have Danced All Night was so fearless
I think I’m responsible for at least a hundred views😂😂
Truly incredible!! Thank you!!
And I LOVE LOVE LOVE your account photo!
Well same here. That "Bosom Buddies" is so goddamn funny - Marilyns facial expressions...I cannot 🤣 Love her!

Remember, the older generation had to belt it out, cuz there wasn't any amplification system. I'm talking serious opera house here.

Fleming in her very long, unfortunate tasteless period.

Lighten up! This was funny! (I’m talking about Flicka and Jackie.)

Calm thyself, sweetpea, there are better things to pretend to be indignant about
