This recording dates from 2003 and is a testament to Hadley's interpretative skills. The way he sings it is very touching and poignant in view of the last years of his life. A tragedy he couldn't 'still go on'. When the thunder rumbles now the age of Gold is dead. And the dreams we've clung to, dying to stay young have left us parched and old instead. When my courage crumbles, When i feel confused and frail. When my spirit falters, on decaying alters. And my illusions fail. I go on right then. I go on again. I go on to say I will celebrate another day. I go on. If tomorrow tumbles, and everything I love is gone, I will face regret, All my days and yet I will still go on.

I miss the good old NY City Opera!!!!! It was fabulous!!

Every time I see an opera with Jerry Hadley I know it will be a splendid performance and I can listen in celebration of his amazing talent. Yet I also feel a tinge of sadness knowing he could not overcome his own sorrow and left this world with so much left in his life to accomplish. We celebrate you, Jerry. We wish you had stayed here with us.

I love Jerry Hadley. He was an amazing lyric tenor, but coloratura was not his thing. This was unfortunately very sloppy because it requires a singer who has good agility.
