Love your work. E1, whose mother was destroyed by rumors and her father is raised on egg shells. Never a safe place. I don't question her as what shaped her was TRAUMA. I can't imagine being brought up in the lava pit that was "Merry Ole' England", NOT.
My ancestors were violent, cruel and she what no other woman could have at that time.
    Keep up the great work.

Elizabeth was MOST DEFINITELY a git! Thank you, Dr. Kat, for pointing out the horrific aspects of her reign and her not so nice personality traits. Much appreciated.

Very interesting conversation. I believe that Elizabeth suffered SUCH a traumatic, abused, emotionally deprived childhood and adolescence that it would be almost impossible to think that WOULDN’T have become a ‘git’ - not to mention a possible psychopath. (And I also ‘like’ Elizabeth, Dr. Kat) I ‘feel’ for her - immensely - and STILL, recognizing the social restrictions/conventions of the time, I believe she certainly became culpable for the actions that place her squarely in ‘gitish’ land.

I agree, and Catherine did a good job of laying that out.

Judicial murder would perhaps be an accurate description of Anne Boleyn's end. But to be fair I think judicial murder was something of a hobby for Henry VIII.

Re early years: as far as I know, Mary was very kind to Elizabeth and was also one of the very few to ask for more clothes for her etc and she even moved her into her household and treated her very kindly. Things seemed to have soured later

Taking Elizabeths entire life into consideration I believe she was a very minor Git... She had to be extreme in her reign to prove she was stronger than the rest of her family. Minor Git.

I am confused with the relationship between Elizabeth and Mary. I have read that they hated one another. I have read that they were on good terms until Mary became queen. Is there any documentation to support either background?

Sorry for an unrelated comment, but did you guys stop uploading to Spotify a while back? All the episodes I can see on there aren’t the same on here. Am I been blind and missing something 😂

Why is it a sick move for Mary to put Elizabeth in the tower if there are doubts about a rebellion? It was the 16th century!

I'm a supporter of the Grey sisters saying this, so disclaimer... I think Elizabeth I was the Margaret Thatcher of her day. Strong, sure, competent, sure, but selfish, petty, vindictive, jealous. Competent as a ruler, but an abysmal human being. Reading about Katherine and Mary Grey, my opinion of Elizabeth did a 180. I used to like Elizabeth, but I felt disgusted afterwards, seeing that side of her, who she really was as a person.
