I just picked one up for home inspections and it is absolutely perfect. Great value and gets the job done, making everything so much quicker and effective. It's extremely well built so I'm not afraid of dropping it. None of the promo pictures show it, but you get a nice quality case that can attach to your belt.
Is it hardcased ? Just busted my c3
Nice input!
What did you do to break it?
Thanks a lot for your well presented Information. What kind of media are used to record the picture. Is there a Video option?
What kind of Codec is used?
That is way beyond knowledge given to users. It records the picture as jpg files but with all the temperature embedded into the picture.
I just got the Seek Shot Pro and not impressed w/ it's higher resolution and seek fusion(seek's version of MSX). Plus it randomly freezes and thinking of returning it and get C5 instead. Is this any better because of picture-in-picture and the MSX is more mature?
FLIR's cameras will always be superior to anyone else because they have been in the business for so long. FLIR has spent more money on R&D than all other manufacturers have made in sales combined. So yes the MSX is better. PIP is too in my opinion but as a thermographer I like just plain old all infrared. Hit us up if you need to purchase or need any assistance.
Hey just found your channel! I have a Blackview 9900 Pro phone which has a FLIR camera built in. I don't really need it but i love technology!
Awesome! You can use it for all kinds of things. Enjoy!
@@OJUtter I was on a hike recently and we made a big fire during the night. In the morning there were some smoking coming from the grund, i used my thermal cam to locate the hotspots and pour water on there! Really useful! 👍🏻
You think this camera would work well for seeing an abscess in a cow hoof, it being warmer than the surrounding hoof?
Are you looking at it close up or farther away? Are you wanting to see this particular cow out of a group of cattle? This camera will likely work best no more than about 6 feet away. You may want to look at an even higher resolution 320x240 camera like the E8. If you are looking closer than 6 feet on a single cow's good the C5 would work fine but if you are looking at a group of cattle to find which has an issue I'd go with even higher resolution.
I really appreciate your vedio
Thank You!
I’m almost ready to get one and I’m sure glad I’ve waited to pull the trigger because that MSX technology is a really nice feature. Now I just need to decide on this one with nice & easy touchscreen or the higher resolution E4’s with E8 upgrades they’re selling for $1200…tough call, REALLY TOUGH
The benefit of the E-Series cameras is they are a little more durable and have a replaceable battery. Plus the higher resolution models so it really depends on what you are using it for. Watch this for more on the value of resolution- ruclips.net/video/ssAso76hehw/видео.html
Can it read a body temperature thru the wall? Might help me with my bounty hunting job...
All infrared cameras only see surface temperatures. You're never be able to see through a wall like they show on movies. That is movie magic only.
Hi never had thermal camera have night vision but am interested in this as a hobby for round the home and outside what is the range outside would you recommend this or is there something better at this price?
For a hobbyist I would recommend the FLIROne Pro
@@OJUtter thanks whats the general range? Image quality compared to c5
Can we use C5 to inspect to high voltage system?
Such as; temperature of drop out fuse and other on the electricity post.
No I would not recommend it for that application. I would recommend you watch this video to better understand the importance of the right infrared resolution. ruclips.net/video/ssAso76hehw/видео.html
@@OJUtterThank you for information.
I am a home inspector. I’m just looking for something to tell me if there’s moisture inside of the wall. Primarily around windows and other openings. I’m really interested in something that will give me a nice blue image when it finds moisture. Let me know what you think

I have a C5 but the cameras are located in the center compared with the one you have. Why I cant see stud walls with mine?
Will you gotta have a decent temperature differential between the outside and inside. The heater the difference the better you'll see them.
Hello could be use in thermal flying like paragliding?
They have some that can be mounted to Drones. So you could use something like that. What are you wanting to accomplish though?
It can see liking water pipe under the ceramic floor? (Hot water)
Must have conduction to the surface. It will not see the actual pipe under the floor but if it conducts heat or cold from the water pipe to the surface from a leak or that the pipe is touching then you can find it. An infrared camera doesn't "x-ray" through material.
Great, was about to purchase the C5 now not so sure, what do you guys recommend?
Did you ever get a camera?
Ok ok flir ignite is a great tool but, what about the bluetooth? what is their function? flir c5 is not compatible with flir tools app.
Just found out the camera is not compatible to connect to a phone via bluetooth.
which model do you recommend for 100 yards or less? thx
Looking at what from 100 yards? Are you looking at a person, an electrical component, a building, or what?
Is it also bluetooth to an Android tablet , not just to Apple products?
Bluetooth is not the way it communicate with apple or android. Bluetooth is only for headsets for voice comments or Bluetooth capable meters.
@@OJUtter I found out that FLIR does not have an android app..
It works from futher away?
Works but isn't always accurate in its temperature reading.
But FUTHER though?
@@kalibbybee4764 Yes it can see further away. It depends on the target you are looking at how well it can see it and read the temperature on it. Everything is target size ratio. See my other videos to better understand.
Haha
Is this detectable for termites activities behind walls?
It is possible but I would lean towards the minimum camera being a 320 x 240 like the E8 or E75. I personally don't work in that field but believe more resolution would give better definition to thinner colony lines. If all colonies sat in large groups then it would be fine but with some company's pumping freon into spaces just to see the colony trails I would lean towards higher resolution. If there is any other questions or help you need please feel free to reach out via my website.
Can this one see water seepage behind a drywalled basement wall?
Not a single infrared camera could see that unless it got the dry wall wet. All infrared sees surface temperatures.
OJ Utter then can u give me your opinion on this video? Guy states wall was in good shape because the leak he discovered was behind the plastic vapor barrier and even shows it in his thermal cam!
ruclips.net/video/lmgnBDdxx_E/видео.html
@@SharpEdgeStandardOfficial Sure. Would be glad to. The dry wall is likely wet on the backside and it has seeped through to the surface enough that there is evaporation causing the cooling effect this showing both the carpet wet and the wall showing wet. If you take and spatter water on the floor or even water that is on your shoes from walking outside will transfer to and there will be no visual indication of that. So if you have a leak behind a wall and that water somehow touches the dry wall it will transfer through to the surface. But if the leak is behind and never comes in contact with the dry wall you won't find it. Now personally of I did that kind of work on a regular basis I would have an infrared camera because it works much faster than walking around with a moisture meter checking for wet areas but I would also purchase a moisture meter so that you can verify that it is wet and not just an air leak because of a missed insulated area or something else causing cool air. Hope that helps more. Give me a call if you want to discuss it. And as to whether this camera would work for that situation, I would say I. Most cases yes. In really minor leaks it may be challenging. I can try to do a video next week more about this if you'd like. I now have a C5.
OJ Utter Thank you very much for taking to time to clarify that for me. I'd like to reach out via phone call and maybe exchange emails so u can see what I'm seeing when the issue occurs? I have a few very detailed photos because I take pics and document everything.
The only wall penetration on the problem area is the sewer main exit and there's a window directly above on the upper floor that is also suspect. I was thinking it could be leaking inside the wall and running down. No peeling paint or bubbled tape joints.
@@SharpEdgeStandardOfficial Most certainly. Here to help. My email is my first name @ my website shown in the about section of the RUclips page.
Yeah. Real game changer. 700 dollar brick. Save your money. Stuck on update bar for two days straight.
Contact FLIR Customer support through their website flir.custhelp.com Register your camera and they can assist you.
We gonna see they have earnings in the morning pre market and I hope they give good numbers and forward guidance
Good luck!
I mean you can buy attachments for smartphones that have higher resolutions at the same price as this with a better refresh rate as well.
You've actually used this one vs those or are you just looking at specifications cuz I have actually used both. Connection issue with the phone models and temperature accuracy issues as well. Plus the durability. While the resolution is worse Instill have a C2 (the original packet sized camera like this) that works great. Good luck of that is the way you choose to go but nothing beats a stand alone camera for actual thermography type work. The phone plug on ones aren't bad but are a novelty item. And if you are talking for the same prices this is a far better value for actual user ability. I'm a Level 3 thermographer that has been doing infrared for more than 20 years. Bur thanks for sharing your thoughts. Continue to think thermally!
@@OJUtter I have flirs, and I'm done. Can't remove the annoying watermark that shouldn't be on a product that costs $800. How narcissistic of a company do you have to be, to think that's a justifiable practice? You don't get free advertisement from me. SO... I have used the Hti and the Flirs, Hti's more accurate, software sucks, but beauty of android, alternative apps to use with it. Canon doesn't do that with their mid-teir products, nor sony, nor nikon, or any other imaging company, that i can think of. Just seems like FLIR is the only one's up themselves enough to think that's an okay practice. THEY EVEN DO THAT ON $5k to $10K equipment they sell our military, WHY?
I cant stand the c2, had to send it back, new one used 5x and the lense started flaking with an orange yellow blob on the screen. Never had problems with the usb type original flir. Im afraid to purchase the c5
Flir didn't even take the c2, they just sent me a new c5 in mail. Works very good so far.
Glad to hear
Battery is irreplaceable! I consider that a major issue especially in a product that cost almost $700.
Bet you won't find too many infrared cameras that are worth a hoot or work this well that have replaceable batteries. What about your phone? Many which cost that much or more without a replaceable battery. Generally lithium ion batteries don't need replaced unless you don't use the product and the cells die.
But it’s rechargeable, which is better than buying batteries over and over
I’m sure if one really wanted to. Because at that point it’s get rid of it or maybe for a few they change it who knows.
But many disposable or not made to be user serviceable items. With care. Can be opened up for repair. Be able to open it. To see the battery that’s in it. Read the numbers on it an I’m sure is some off the shelf battery that can be ordered someone has online next to nothing.
It’s got to be able to be opened if one actually tried. I started its life in pieces so it got to be able to come apart to pieces.
They just made it to where one won’t.
It’s like some things probably that had tiny black round rubber feet. If you pull the rubber out of the feet. Under the feet are the screws holding said item together.
It’s most definitely possible to open. Have decent plastic prying tools an what not. Like a phone repair tool set. Bet anything it could be done.
Though I agree. It should of been made replaceable by the user.
Great video. Lay off the coffee and breath.
😉🤣🤟🏼
I swear the number between 3 and 5 is 4
Very good! 😉
very expensive.
Guess you don't understand the technology then. Just over 10 years ago a camera with this capability was over $8k.
Futher away
Yes it can see further away but temperature accuracy suffers.
lol ; -)
I had to stop watching. The constant rocking, hands and speech pattern were just to irritating.
OK. 🤷 Thanks for sharing! Have a great day! 👍🏻
When someone is in construction site there is no wifi. So please stop promoting wifi capability that much....
No one said you have to use it. If you can't use it then it is basically given that you can't use that ability. Not showing it though is like saying because I only look at cold things then you shouldn't show hot things.
Out of reach
Out of reach for what. If you can't afford a camera like this look into the FLIR One line of attachable cameras.
