Hey Reuben. Love the video, but it needs an edit. That firmware update did come out and fixed all the issues you addressed! Its an amazing little camera now with that update! Thanks for all your great content.
I totally agree with you. The sensitivity of the sensor is very important!! The question I ask you (since you tried the camera) is: Does this sensitivity also apply to lower temperatures? Eg: I want to find a leak on a cold water pipe behind a wall. Can I get a decent picture of the pipe?
Hello Reuben, I really do enjoy your honest and straightforward videos. Thank you for all you do! Do you think this camera will have enough sensitivity to detect a leak in a rubber roof? Maybe even a leak in DryVit?
Good video. How close can you get to focus on a target and how far away can you be from a from a target? Someone told me that you can't be closer than 1"?
Hi, so I actually bought this camera based off your recommendation form this video, and I have to say that I was really disappointed in it. I am not sure if I got a faulty one but mine really struggles on objects that are cool/cold and don’t have any contrast against heat. In a nutshell, the image gets very grainy and distorted on the screen and it just downright does not do a good job with its sensitivity. I can’t even see the studs on my wall, but with a Flir one pro lt that I had, I was able to and the overall image quality wasn’t as distorted, which is surprising….. Like I mentioned, when viewing an object that’s hot, it does a very good job displaying the image on screen and doesn’t get grainy looking but I don’t feel the sensitivity is anywhere near its advertised rating and it looks too grainy for my liking.
Viewing low temperatures is like taking night photos in classic photography. It needs VERY good sensors. I found very few reviews addressing these kinds of issues
Thanks for the video Ruben, I just got done shadowing an excellent Home Inspector in Colorado Springs and he reccomended the HIKMICRO Pocket 2. I think I will purchase it when my Flir TG267 breaks. Thanks again.
Ha. So funny. I’m Ruben too. And I’m a home inspector. I made a review as well. This camera is WAY better and more economic than the FLIR. Nice review.
Struggling - do i get the Pocket 2 or the B20? Pocket 2 appears to be more refined of a product but I like to have actual buttons because it "seems" like that would be more reliable long term. Also, it seems like it would be easier to disassemble the B20 for battery change out in a few years. All that said, i am still leaning Pocket 2. Do you have any thoughts in the next 15 minutes (joking)?
I don't see an affiliate link in the description. I'm about to buy this camera, after lots of comparisons, based on your review. I would definitely use a link if there was one. Anyways, nice video!
Great Intro Reuben! Thankyou for taking the time to put yourself and the Hikmicro Pocket 2 in the spotlight. I Liked your B20 review, but already had reservations about the orientation of the B20 image, so the Pocket 2 was a perfect opportunity. Its a shame the US and UK cant get their act together on this type of tech. I would pay a premium if I could see the bigger picture as well, which I know applies to you guys too.
Thanks for the video. How hard (or easy) is it to select 2 points on a saved image? I'm thinking of one of these as a back up for my FLIR T420 that I use for electrical work. Because FLIR tools (the software) is so horrible, I typically edit the IR images on the camera before saving them to the computer for reports. So if you have an image with 3 #2 AWG wires, one of which is much hotter than the others, how hard would it be to pick the hottest point on the hot wire and the hottest point on one of the less hot wires? If you can add the delta T to the image, that would be great but not a deal killer. Thanks again for the review, this camera wasn't on my radar.
The difference is there’s 16gb but it has internal stuff (delete system32 it’s useless) that is required for stuff like WiFi and to save settings and boot up.
I’ve read lots of reviews on both, & have the Pocket 2 on order. They are both very good just the reviews I read were leaning towards the pocket 2. Good luck.
I can not recommend the HIKMICRO Pocket 2 since it permanently randomly freezes and does not work reliable at all! Firmware is up to date. What a waste of money!

Thank you for that update. I ordered this. thank you for the review Rueben, I was on the fence with FLR vs hikmicro but you convinced me. 😊🎉
May I ask where I can download this new firmware?

Did you install the latest firmware update? I'm just wondering if that fixed this issue or not? Thanks!

Thanks for this video! I watched this one and the flir one. Just purchased the pocket 2 on sale. Can’t wait to use it for insurance inspections!
I am thinking to buy one of the pocket 2 as well. What's your experience on this camera? Thanks
Hey Ruben, in thr actual version there is a menue item you can switch on to save a normal image as well automarically
Ha. So funny. I’m Ruben too. And I’m a home inspector. I made a review as well. This camera is WAY better and more economic than the FLIR. Nice review.

What image? Rwsolution or large? The resolution is the same!
Thanks for the review, I will be adding this to my inspectors tool kit for Black Friday deals. I also appreciate the Scripture verse

had mine three days, and its perfect. many thanks for this vid. oh and thumbs up bud.

Anyone know how to replace the battery when it inevitably degrades to the point of unusable?
Great point. I’m tired of planned obsolescence.
Perfect review exactly what I needed.
Thank you this video made me easy to decide for the pocket 2
Hi. ; b2o or pocket 2?
Hi...you prefer B20 or pocket 2?
I’ve read lots of reviews on both, & have the Pocket 2 on order. They are both very good just the reviews I read were leaning towards the pocket 2. Good luck.
Swipe down works but you have to do it exactly in the middle of the screen.
Stupid software decisison...
Great stuff as usual
Great stuff as usual 😆
Great job

According to HIKMICRO, they're coming out with a firmware update, version 5.5.29, which will support saving a single visible light image.

I can not recommend the HIKMICRO Pocket 2 since it permanently randomly freezes and does not work reliable at all! Firmware is up to date.
What a waste of money!

May I ask where I can find the new firmware?
