Teresa you are a better woman than me...when Elton and Bernie split up I thought it was over for Sir Elton...I was so wrong. His catalogue of music makes it impossible for me to pick a favorite song...❣️
I named my dog Tiny Dancer. I will literally pick her 6 lb self up and start slow dancing with her for the whole song 🤷♀️🤣 She just buries her head in my nape and let's me hold her tiny paw the whole time hahaha
Here's an analogy - perhaps odd, but I've been a professional musician as well as a semi-professional basketball player. If Michael Jordan had been nothing more than an average offensive player, he would still be remembered as one of the greatest defensive players of his generation - that's how good he was. Similarly, Elton John could have never sung a note, but he would have been remembered as one of the best studio pianists of his generation. He was simply that good. However, when coupled with the lyrics of Bernie Taupin [somewhat akin to Michael's Scottie Pippen] an unprecedented legacy evolved. In retrospect, we are all blessed to inherit their legacy.
It's difficult to explain to those who weren't around back then, but Elton John and Bernie Taupin's songs were HUGE in the '70s--you couldn't escape their music on both AM and FM radio. What's more, is that they produced so many classic songs of this caliber, year in and year out, for about 6 or 7 years straight. More than ever, I am in awe of what they accomplished.
Bernie Taupin, who wrote all the lyrics, wrote this about Elton’s costume designer. They were dating at the time. Elton composed all the music in their decades-long collaboration.

This song brings tears to my eyes. My youngest daughter used to wake up as a baby when I got home, I worked 3-11 back then and this was her lullaby. She’s 32 now but it still makes me cry- Love you MaryKate
As a father of 4 daughters, I can safely tell you, that what you're thinking of, is called a *"Music Box"*. Sometimes the Ballerina figure is in an actual box(or jewelry box), and when you open the lid, music starts as the figurine turns. Sometimes she's a stand alone in the open, on a pedestal, and when you wind it up, it does the spin and music. (And you can get a similar one to that, but inside a snow globe) :-)

It was 1971 and I was 14 years old and I remember it like it was yesterday, the first time I heard "Your Song." Surely that song was written just for me, lol. I have had the pleasure to see Elton in concert many times, from Madison Square Garden to a small college auditorium, with only him and a piano. Amazing! And still my absolute favorite after all these years.
Thanks for listening to the music of my youth. Sang this song riding my bike many moons ago. Your enjoyment of listening and appreciating the sound and lyrics make this old lady smile!
“I don’t know what this songs about”. Well you’re not alone in that one... also Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters is a terrific Elton piece and one of the few that has a deep but pretty clear meaning
60s-70s teen, 1st time hearIng Elton, on the way picking up bestie, “I just heard a new song & singer Our song” found out his name later. No internet. Just had to wait until I heard it again from transistor widowed single mom bought me. She was my everything. Thank her every day. Music is my first love. ❤🎶💙
I have been with you for the last year. I love when you discover songs that a lot of us here take for granted. It gives me a little of the feeling I had when I first heard a lot of these songs. Thank you for that. Keep up this fantastic journey my brother, you deserve it!
Well, this is a classic of classics. The lyrics, the tune, the vocals, the instruments, and of course the arrangement. This is easily one of my go-to Elton songs. Thanks for reacting to it.
Best movie ever. I also want him to react to tangerine (end scene song) and Mona Lisa’s and mad hatters (William running through the streets to find penny while she is o d ing)
Growing up in the 70’s Elton was my idol! I started playing the piano because of him. I played “Your Song” on the piano at my Middle school talent show in 7th grade. I had his image all over my bedroom walls and all his albums nearby. I only saw him once. He was Captain Fantastic! You are so funny!
My two favorite songs by Elton are "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" and "Come Back in Time." Oh wait...also "Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters." Make it 3 please!
Grew up on Elton John, with all the other great 70's music. His music is magical 🤩 you've opened up a huge rabbit hole of great feel good music, Levon and Madman across the water are must plays. Sir Elton! Yes!!!!! Such a great song! Getchur rock n roll on with Saturday Night's Alright! Also, I had a music box like that. Bought one for my daughter too. And my granddaughter. That ballerina has been spinning for 40 years in my family ❤

Bernie Taupin and Elton John have been writing together for 50 years. I never thought about it as a kid but I remember Bernie was pictured in the albums as part of the band, and I had no idea then how unusual that was. Talk about friendship goals. I'm SO EXCITED that you're doing Elton John, he's an all time favorite. I hope you keep doing his songs. I have so many suggestions, I don't want to be annoying. But here are a few. Okay, I'll stop. :)
Lyrics: Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band Pretty eyed, pirate smile, you'll marry a music man Ballerina, you must've seen her dancing in the sand And now she's in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand Jesus freaks out in the street Handing tickets out for God Turning back, she just laughs The boulevard is not that bad Piano man, he makes his stand In the auditorium Looking on, she sings the songs The words she knows, the tune she hums But oh, how it feels so real Lying here with no one near Only you, and you can hear me When I say softly, slowly Hold me closer, tiny dancer Count the headlights on the highway Lay me down in sheets of linen You had a busy day today Hold me closer, tiny dancer Count the headlights on the highway Lay me down in sheets…

Love Elton John now you got to do Philadelphia Freedom
Great rabbit holes to go down!!😂😂 what a successful partnership this turned out to be
getting to see Elton finally on oct 16 tacoma dome..a fan for 50 years
Cant help but think of the scene in Almost Famous whenever I hear this song. Classic!!
Thanks for listening to the music of my youth. Sang this song riding my bike many moons ago. Your enjoyment of listening and appreciating the sound and lyrics make this old lady smile!
- *The Edge Of Seventeen* By Stevie Nicks 💯🔥
Excellent choice!
YES!!
BigPete S LOVE that song. My girls love it too
“I don’t know what this songs about”. Well you’re not alone in that one... also Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters is a terrific Elton piece and one of the few that has a deep but pretty clear meaning
Has someone been watching almost famous?
60s-70s teen, 1st time hearIng Elton, on the way picking up bestie, “I just heard a new song & singer Our song” found out his name later. No internet. Just had to wait until I heard it again from transistor widowed single mom bought me. She was my everything. Thank her every day. Music is my first love. ❤🎶💙
Man, love the strings and backup harmonizing, it is subtle but powerful
Must listen to studio version of "don't let the sun go down on me & " your song"
By far, one of the best songs. Been hearing it since it came out, and heard a thousand versions, still gives me chills.
Do the song “I Guess That’s Why They Call it the Blues”
Always makes me cry.
My fav...
Absolutely!
“Time On My Hands, Could Be Time Spent With You” ♥️♥️♥️
The Ginger Gyrl455 It doesn’t make me cry! LOL makes me groove to it!! Sorry
Saw Elton John in '84. Put on a show like you've never seen. Guy can play the piano like no other.. Thx for the vid!
Child prodigy who became one of the greatest singer/songwriters of my lifetime. The man can make a piano sing.
Hold me closer Tony Danza
😂
😅😅😅
🤣
haaa
I can hear Eric Cartman singing it now. 🤣
If you haven’t, you must see the movie “Almost Famous”. This song plays a big part in that film.
I can't hear this song without thinking about that movie!
Best movie ever. I also want him to react to tangerine (end scene song) and Mona Lisa’s and mad hatters (William running through the streets to find penny while she is o d ing)
Tiny Dancer is my absolute favorite song of all time 💜 love Elton, and loved this reaction!
Yessssssss
Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters for sure!!!!
Come down in time? A favorite of mine. From tumbleweed connection.
jstraws1 Same.
Jamel how happy I am for YOU that you're are getting to experience Elton John!!
Grew up on Elton John, with all the other great 70's music. His music is magical 🤩 you've opened up a huge rabbit hole of great feel good music, Levon and Madman across the water are must plays. Also The Kings, switching to glide. As always you are appreciated for taking the time to enjoy this music with us.
Sir Elton! Yes!!!!! Such a great song!
Getchur rock n roll on with Saturday Night's Alright!
Also, I had a music box like that. Bought one for my daughter too. And my granddaughter. That ballerina has been spinning for 40 years in my family ❤
Border Song. An early Elton John masterpiece
Check out “Island Girl”, “Don’t Let The Sun go down on me” and “Honky Cat”
Sorry to butt in, but the “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” duet with George Michael is better than the original, IMHO.
Honky Cat is my favorite Elton song.
redletter2008 I loved Island Girl when I was a child, but I think it’s one of his few songs that sounds dated. I don’t enjoy listening to it anymore. Obviously, just my opinion. The other song I can’t listen to is “Crocodile Rock”, but it’s a popular choice in the comment section.
I love "Honky Cat!" Also "Crocodile Rock."
My favorite moment from the movie, Almost Famous.
Everybody just join in, you know the words.
Border Song, Your Song, Bennie & the Jets, Someone Saved My Life Tonight, Levon (please please do Levon), Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting, Madman Across the Water, and my personal favorite Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Okay, I'll stop. :)
Lyrics:
Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band
Pretty eyed, pirate smile, you'll marry a music man
Ballerina, you must've seen her dancing in the sand
And now she's in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand
Jesus freaks out in the street
Handing tickets out for God
Turning back, she just laughs
The boulevard is not that bad
Piano man, he makes his stand
In the auditorium
Looking on, she sings the songs
The words she knows, the tune she hums
But oh, how it feels so real
Lying here with no one near
Only you, and you can hear me
When I say softly, slowly
Hold me closer, tiny dancer
Count the headlights on the highway
Lay me down in sheets of linen
You had a busy day today
Hold me closer, tiny dancer
Count the headlights on the highway
Lay me down in sheets…
So many more before you! Maybe try Levon, Madman across the water, and a true gem “ The greatest discovery! Enjoy!
Love “Levon” & “Daniel” ♥️♥️
Yes, Yes, and Yes to Levon, Madman Across the Water, and Daniel!

Elton's voice is so amazing. I love this song, plus many more. Thanks for doing Elton John.
He wrote the song as a wedding gift to the seamstress for his band, an L..A. girl that was getting married to a member of his band.
The Ballard of Danny Bailey and Roy Rogers are both great off Yellow Brick Road. I love them both
Great songs!
Love Sir Elton---played his 45s over and over! Great memories!
You know those songs that no matter how many times you hear it, no matter how old it is, no matter where you are... you want to just jam to it? This is one of those.
You wanna talk about a rabbit hole?
Ruth Lowndes no kidding. EJ’s catalogue is deep.
