I did this to my own 1988 Mazda B2200 truck back in the 1990s. Mine has AC and power steering, and I used three angled grease fittings to make access easier with the grease gun. I did NOT have to disconnect the steering or anything. I use typical all-purpose lithium grease from the cartridge.
