I have both and Sony's are better. Bose has way to many problems with battery not charging and horrible app that does not work half the time. XM4 just work.
I bought Bose for better call quality before Xm4 came out. I liked them initially but started becoming defective after only a month with distortions on calls. When they were working calls were amazing. I've lost confidence in Bose and was able to exchange for Xm4 for no charge! got to love Amazon. Nervous about call quality but everything else seems better. Arrive on wed!
@Malcolm Williams thanks for letting me know, I actually really liked the Bose 700 when they were working. The fact they had problems after 1 month gave me pause. As long as the XM4's work for calls in a semi quiet environment I'm good. Just need to block out fan from air purifier. Also the whole firmware blocking the headphones, SMH
I've watched a lot of comparison videos but this one actually helped me decide/finalize my decision. It also accurately captures all the little things so I don't get blindsided after such as a big purchase, I know what to expect.
I hate to be the one to say this but no this is not one of the most informative videos. The XM4 does not get better battery life than the 700 even though Sony claims as much. In real-world testing the 700 comes in at about 2 hours more. Not a big deal but it’s a fact. The XM4 ear cups are a bit larger on the inside than the XM4. This is important because it makes them more comfortable than the XM3. Someone like me who didn’t like the comfort level of the XM3, is now very happy with the way the XM4 feel and also the crown padding is also slightly different on the XM4 vs the XM3. There are some annoying things about the 700 worth noting. One would be if you use your 700 away from home a lot, when putting them away, you have to adjust/slide the ear cups up the frame bar to be able to them away if you use them extended far.
I've been trying to work out whether or not to invest in a pair of XM4s and your various videos have just been so so helpful in working it out. Thank you!
Come on guys! Why u guys don't have many subscribers? It's like a professional comparison like mkbhd! Keep doing ur thing guys, don't stop! Keep reviewing things
Guys I LOVE your videos. I have had Skullcandy, Beats and Monster headphones for my entire headphone life. But now when I get my Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, because of you 2 I will also be getting a pair of XM4's with it. New subscriber, keep up the great work!!
Great video, thank you so much for posting this. I’m always interested in your views because you always have good sound judgement when reviewing. I have the Bose 700 and got them after I had the xm3s. The xm3s were good but I felt Sony didn’t pay attention to build quality and their features were a bit sloppy. The headphones rattled on one side and the changes to ANC as you moved really didn’t work well. I found the 700s were a more “polished” product. But Bose still has a design that inherently rattles! I’m not switching now but your video shows maybe Sony has polished things up. Thanks!
Thanks for the reviews, guys. Helped me make my decision. Bose 700 is cheaper than the XM4 at my Best Buy. I'm constantly switching between phone and laptop and the 700 handles the switching well (I've read a few frustrated Sony owners complaining about the switching gon the XM4 since it launched). The ANC is great for my taste. I don't need an equalizer. The dedicated assistant button and ANC button are really convenient. Phone calls are clear - people hear and understand me perfectly. NO COMPELLING REASON TO LEAVE MY BELOVED 700s for the XM4.
One week into owning the Sony’s. My only two critiques: 1. It has this feature called Adaptive Sound Control, where it changes the noise cancelation levels based on what ur doing(walking, on a long ride, staying still) and when you are in a long ride, it changes every so often to the walking and staying still modes depending on how fast you are going which is really annoying Bc it beeps to let u know if changed. U can turn this Adaptive Sound Control off but it’s such a cool feature, just a lil unfortunate. 2. This may just be Bc I have a sensitive head, which is an odd thing to say, but I have to change positions of the headphones on my head Bc the top of my head starts to hurt, again could just be me, but this headphones aren’t 100% discomfort proof. Other than that tho, definitely worth the money.
I think the indicator is that the charge light shuts off, when it would normally be red. But in the Sony headphones connect app, it shows the battery level.
DHRME good to know. I was also wondering, if you have speak-to-chat enabled and you use quick attention, does your music/audio pause when you talk? I know that if you use quick attention by itself on the XM3, it won’t pause the music but it will just make it very quiet. And I know that if you have speak-to-chat enabled, your music pauses when you speak. But I was wondering quick attention would override that speak-to-chat feature, for times when you want to have your music to instantly come back on after a conversation.
Have you guys checked out the beyerdynamic amiron wireless? I recently picked it up and it is incredible sounding even compared to my hifiman sundara on a jds labs El amp ii. Great video tho I've been looking for a replacement for Jim and I think I found it.
Well now they are 50 bucks less expensive than the Bose... I was all set on BOSE but the app issues and it requires you to create an account was a clear NO NO.... I guess I'll jump ships and head to Sony.....
Thanks very much for the detailed review. Audio sound is the priority for me so I go with the Sony, even though it couldn't beat the aux cord headphones but I'm a commuter so have to go for wireless.
I’ve now done over 50 hours of calls almost all Zoom and VOIP on the XM4’s, no complaints at all and some of my long suffering colleagues are used to my, “so how do these sound, no really, am i clear” and so on as I do try quite a few different head sets.. They connect to the app, battery lasts hell of a long time, the music is really enjoyable. I can actually connect to 2 devices at once without constant disconnect reconnect disconnect and so on. So glad I got rid of my Bose. I did try 4 sets of the 700 no one can say I didn't try 🥺!
This is crazy. I just experienced the opposite. Bose has much better mic's. I am returning my first XM4 because of many different problems like comfort and the ANC hissing etc.etc. Why did you try 4 Bose??
@@xink64 Bose do have much better mikes, @Martin, the point is that the call quality of the Sony’s although not as good is according to all I ask absolutely fine. I’ve had my Sony’s since Aug 21, so far no issues at all. I returned my first pair of Bose after 3 weeks with battery, multi point connect issues and inability to reset. It was Bose who asked me to return them. The next pair a few weeks later when they arrived from Belgium lasted about 6 weeks actually which was a record and on it went. The final straw on pair 3 I think it was, was when they asked me to return them for various reasons, even asked if a fancied a change of colour which I didn’t take them up on. When they arrived they had updated the firmware again and I no longer had an EQ and the multi point was still broken and this time using a MacBook Pro and iPhone rather than the Windows 10 laptop and iPhone which I had been using, ohh and I lost 4 hrs battery in 10 days even though they sent me a Bose 700 specific charger FOC. It was Amazon in the end who said to just send them back to them even though they had no need to offer and choose a different brand which was quite a shock and made me wonder just how many returns they had been getting to swallow this cost. I know people who are delighted with their Bose and I hope you are one of them, despite all the issues Bose customer support were always very helpful.
@@adrianmorrish8494 Very interesting. I hope my NC700 doesn't cause similar problems. I am on Windows and Android and I don't have any problems with connectivity. It is a bit odd that mine says 19 hours of battery after a full charge, but I think they just make an estimate and it doesn't really matter. Sony and others only say the percentage left which is almost useless in comparison. So I don't think you lost 4 hours in such short time, it just adjusted the time left for your use case (which is actually very very useful!) Anyway I hope you will be happy with the XM4 too, I know many people are :)
@@xink64 I believe the issue is Bose do not create the correct BT iPhone connection as you may be aware BT on iPhones is a little different, and thus it keeps dropping connection and reconnecting, this would only be an issue if iPhones were popular of course 🙄
Hi I love watching your informative videos and get so much information from these videos as u both take headphones reviews to another level lol and believe me it works very well as you both are very intelligent and does make sense. Can I ask you a big favor which I never ever did or asked any other youtuber before that can you please review couple of brilliant anc headphones for me please so then I know which one to buy as I only watch you if I want to buy headphones and those headphones are (MU6 SPACE 1) and it's big brother MU6 SPACE 2) this is the 2nd generation of space 1 . I heard a lot about these but waiting for your reviews please 🙏
I tried both 700 and mx4 and the sony app crashes more than 4 time and i did not have any problems whatsoever with bose app. As for noise I actually prefer the audio of bose some of the song instruments every time i listen screech or are mesh so far i am more impressed with bose.
As much as I loved my XM3's I could not simply get over the fact that they were not usable in phone calls, in a louder enviroment they were garbage. In rest, pretty good headphones, but I wish they fixed the mic quality on the XM4. So I'll skip this gen and stick to the 700's.
You guys have sold me on XM4 since are more comfortable, the best ANC, an APP that works consistently and they are worth $10 more then Bose's IMO. So when I decide buy around the holidays I will go with the Sony's . I would like to try both of these headphones touch controls after you chilled them down to see if they have improved the Sony's. Sony'has made evolutionary changes and refinement.
Wait, do you guys speak Dutch? 👀 Awesome video btw, you guys are really underrated and I hope you get more & more subs! Also, maybe I missed it, but the auto pause/play when turning off/on the headphones could have been nice to mention as well with the XM4, or did I miss it in the video haha? Anyway great job, keep it up!
Great video, thanks! I asked this question on the last video too but didn't get the answer. Could you please let me know, is there any improvement in XM4's working Bluetooth range as compared to XM3's?
For me sound from pc with win10 vs android is day and night in audio quality. Played from my one plus 5 i can barely stand it, esp on bt, its like last resort situation, while connected to pc its really good.
:3 was that at 00:16 supposed to be Guten Tag? it kinda sounds like it but you did the "ch" thing that sounds so harsh and "german" but is actually not used in guten Tag but it could maybe be dutch. they sound a lot more so 🤔
@@DHRME sweet :D then I may use this opportunity and say thanks for your videos I´m a newcomer to the channel and found you by accident whilst looking for updates on the xm4s so here i am - thanks for the test, test, tests and the reviews ;P
Jesus...this ist my x comparison on These to ive been watching. One says that the bose have a wider soundstage, they are sounding much crispier and there strength is Instrument seperation. Now you come along and Tell ne the complete opposite. Man which one should i buy? This is frustrating! 😂
Nobody talks about the base for bose.. Bought Bose 700.. Really disappointed on sound.. There is no punch in the sound, I mean even my ipods pack a better punch.. paying so much for good speakers, it should be a given that we should get explosive sound quality.. in my opinion... stay away from bose if you want to listen to good head busting music.. These speakers dont do justice with the brand that they carry.. I just feel I have wasted money.. disappointed Bose!! Really disappointed!!
I decided to buy the Sony XM4 after watching this video. The bass is deep and well controlled. The mids are clear and full. The treble lack a little bit of clarity but only very slightly. The soundstage is decently wide.
@@markpaulson1346 In my opinion the Bose sound a bit better, but I decided to use the Sony more since the difference isn't that obvious but in contrast the Sony features are way more user friendly. This is what matters to me. I gave the Bose ones to my son.
Before you buy any.... if you are a Apple music user on iPhone and Android like me, please note that there’s much difference between using it wireless on these two devices.... it sounds way better on Android with Apple Music than iPhone with Apple Music, I’ll try to put this into you again.... there is much difference in the sound quality and it is more clearer on iOS.... it is so much better on my Samsung, in fact I had to use my Samsung while on airplane with it cos the sound from it is just so pleasing
For anyone that's wondering this guy is 100% on point with this review. I use mine for music and teleconferencing and calls whenever I've used the Sony it's annoying not having mute and the shite house mic
The Sony's and Bose sound amazing wired on a phone or device that has decent digital sound processing. Ie an LG with quad dac playing flac... Like jawdropoingly good
Got the XM4s yesterday, match them for several hours in different surroundings against my Bose 700, XM4s went back to the store today, for a full refund. The XM4 ANC has abundant white noise in the background, where the Bose has practically none. Also, I found the 700s earcups more comfortable and the microphones for calls are way superior to the Sonys XM4s. Sad, I was expecting more from Sony
Thank u for your feedback and to these guys' awesome reviews...I have just ordered the Bose 700 after waiting for a whole year for the new Sony XM4 to come out but disappointed on their lack of call quality (still). Was so hoping Sony would have addressed that issue by now.
Funny I got the exact opposite result. Bose went back to the store. Also I have 0 problems with call quality on my XM4's where I couldn't make a call on previous iterations of X. I'm very impressed with the Sony XM4 and the sound quality is so much better as long as you use the LDAC code or 3.5mm wire.
Lmao you got to be kidding right. The xm4 blocks more high and mid frequency noises than the 700's.And for the comfort wise, the 700's have a slightly more clamping earcup force than the xm4's.
@@0_Chan_Dung YOU WON'T REPENT. Especially their ANC, is so clean. Make sure to keep up with their latest firmware and frequent updates with their Music App. The only small issue for me is the announcement for the battery level, will not exceed 17 hours, even when the battery is fully charged. But, they are working on it. They will provide an update soon.
I bought the bose 700 for 340 euros. I hope the hiss when active NC is on and music is off is less on bose than sony. Maybe I ask my boss for the momentum 3 , or if they come out soon, the momentum 4 for my overworking hours.
@@DHRME yeah I'm electronic and what not I can definitely agree it doesn't make too much a difference. I do need to say you did make a stellar video though. I liked and subbed! I'll definitely be tuning back in 🔥

@@ruturajthakur6891 the Sony and it has been seamless for me
Your review is the most detailed video I’ve seen so far. Keep it up guys because your truly reliable 👍🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
One would be if you use your 700 away from home a lot, when putting them away, you have to adjust/slide the ear cups up the frame bar to be able to them away if you use them extended far.
this was the kind of this vs that vid i was looking for, thanks dudes!
I've been trying to work out whether or not to invest in a pair of XM4s and your various videos have just been so so helpful in working it out. Thank you!
You're most welcome!
I'm getting the sony
Quite a thorough review! I really like the part in which you compared both and said who should get which pair.
you guys are still my favorite! i was debating over the both in 2024...
How are the Sony's build quality? I have read many bad reviews.
Im using the XM4 It's plastic but the plastic is high quality. It feels robust and well made.
Come on guys! Why u guys don't have many subscribers? It's like a professional comparison like mkbhd! Keep doing ur thing guys, don't stop! Keep reviewing things
Appreciate it 🤜 with continued support like yours, we wouldn’t dare stop 😉
I agree! Let's help the brothers to more subs. Share their videos !
Kind Sirs. You have earned yourself my subscription. Great honest and unbiased content. Ty.
Thank you!
I'm subscribed to most channels dealing with BTNC cans, however this is the BEST!!BY FAR!!
🙏🙏🙏
Is there any indicator on the actual Sony headphones themselves that lets you know when it is fully charged?
I think the indicator is that the charge light shuts off, when it would normally be red. But in the Sony headphones connect app, it shows the battery level.
Adam Savitsky thanks 👌🏽
You can also press the battery button once to hear the battery status.
That's the reviews I wanted!
when i saw the title cover of the video the angle made him look like James harden its nice
Great video guys - concise, and punchy
Couldn’t decide so bought both got the limited edition silent white still sealed in the box, maybe worth some more in the future
Great, just wonderful work, and I appreciate the your work. Thank you.

Awesome!
Great review! This is the most comprehensive comparison review on RUclips.
Thanks 🙏
Fantastic comparison Video. Great Job! Still not sure which one to buy 😊 Just subscribed to your channel, thats for sure 👌👍
Have you guys checked out the beyerdynamic amiron wireless? I recently picked it up and it is incredible sounding even compared to my hifiman sundara on a jds labs El amp ii. Great video tho I've been looking for a replacement for Jim and I think I found it.
you've earn yourselves another subcriber, keep it up bros!
I wish those Bose were better because, they look fantastic.....
Great comparison though!
You were watching Carlos Costa from Beardbrand..Amazing beard model..
For sure 😎
Great review. Thanks for the comparison. Please compare Sony 1000xm4 with Playgo BH70
You guys are awesome. Thanks for the video.. I am still torn at which ones to get.. :(
I love the look of the Sonys!
Wow! Great to hear Adrian! Thanks for checking back in!
Loved the content. Subscribed!
You guys are awesome with your reviews! Just earned a 👍and Subscribed
I have a riding mower and I can tell you that I hear every beat with my 700s....nuff said
Keep it up guys...thanks for the reviews
Hey man! first off, great review! Second, question: My ears did get hot with the XM4s, will I have the same issue with the 700s?
You should try them in a Samsung TV. It seems the Sonys aren't compatible
The 700's have an equalizer now ❤️ I think this has closed a significant performance gap! The Bose App is a notable add on now.
There’s more bass on the Bose now ?
Amazing channel, subscribed
As much as I loved my XM3's I could not simply get over the fact that they were not usable in phone calls, in a louder enviroment they were garbage. In rest, pretty good headphones, but I wish they fixed the mic quality on the XM4. So I'll skip this gen and stick to the 700's.
Great review guys.
Great video 10/10
Thank you mate.
thank u, going Sony, let y'all know how it goes
And? How do you like them?
You guys have sold me on XM4 since are more comfortable, the best ANC, an APP that works consistently and they are worth $10 more then Bose's IMO. So when I decide buy around the holidays I will go with the Sony's . I would like to try both of these headphones touch controls after you chilled them down to see if they have improved the Sony's. Sony'has made evolutionary changes and refinement.
Sometimes that's all you need isn't it, doc?
Wait, do you guys speak Dutch? 👀
Awesome video btw, you guys are really underrated and I hope you get more & more subs! Also, maybe I missed it, but the auto pause/play when turning off/on the headphones could have been nice to mention as well with the XM4, or did I miss it in the video haha?
Anyway great job, keep it up!
Thanks! Yep we speak Dutch 😉 do you mean when you remove and wear the headphones? That was mentioned.
DHRME Cool, leuk om te horen! ;) And yes that is what I meant.
Thank you so much! Very helpful
That was a solid review. 👍
make a video explaining different audio terms like ldac, aptx, etc plz
Did I understand correctly that the bose are $100 cheaper? I know the video is about 24 hours old, but the links only show a $10 difference.
There’s always local price differences and deals. We were talking about the Netherlands.
@@DHRME Oh didn't hear that in the video, might have missed the Netherlands aspect. Thanks.
We didn't say it explicitly. Our bad!
Sony all the way!
Your beard is epic. Thought I should say that xD
Nice review!
Decided to go for Sony
Great video, thanks! I asked this question on the last video too but didn't get the answer. Could you please let me know, is there any improvement in XM4's working Bluetooth range as compared to XM3's?
The next video might of interest to you. ;)
@@DHRME Oh great, I will look forward to it. Turning on my notifications😊
If you.want to test how good headphones sound always do it via cable and never play from phone, pc is much better audio source generally.
For me sound from pc with win10 vs android is day and night in audio quality. Played from my one plus 5 i can barely stand it, esp on bt, its like last resort situation, while connected to pc its really good.
Nicely done
thank you for the video!
Your beard has soooo much power!
:3 was that at 00:16 supposed to be Guten Tag?
it kinda sounds like it but you did the "ch" thing that sounds so harsh and "german" but is actually not used in guten Tag
but it could maybe be dutch. they sound a lot more so 🤔
Dutch indeed 😉 sharp!
@@DHRME sweet :D
then I may use this opportunity and say thanks for your videos
I´m a newcomer to the channel and found you by accident whilst looking for updates on the xm4s
so here i am - thanks for the test, test, tests and the reviews ;P
Goededag! Greetings from the netherlands, no riots today.
Gelukkig maar!
Thanks was really helpful!
You’re welcome!
Jesus...this ist my x comparison on These to ive been watching. One says that the bose have a wider soundstage, they are sounding much crispier and there strength is Instrument seperation. Now you come along and Tell ne the complete opposite. Man which one should i buy? This is frustrating! 😂
I‘m in the exact same situation lol....
which one did u get
Nobody talks about the base for bose..
I couldn't decide and I bought them both today 😀
🤑
Which one do you like better for sound quality?
Like jawdropoingly good
I chose bose 700 over xm4
Very detailed comprehensive review
Thanks bro.

Design is very subjective.
Just like i find sony more appealing 😅
Great review anyway. New subs here
Yes indeed! Welcome! 💪
Personally, I prefer the sound of the Bose 700's, got a good deal on them for £220.
jeez wow where from?
Bro, when sony wh-1000xm4 will be available in india offline showroom?
Bought XM4 yesterday 😊
Good one! Enjoy 😉
Nice review...
I bought the bose 700 for 340 euros. I hope the hiss when active NC is on and music is off is less on bose than sony. Maybe I ask my boss for the momentum 3 , or if they come out soon, the momentum 4 for my overworking hours.
AAC and ldac's difference are definitely noticeable in jazz and rock. You can hear compression is cymbals and horns.
Thank you! You’re right, was listening mainly to louder music.
@@DHRME yeah I'm electronic and what not I can definitely agree it doesn't make too much a difference. I do need to say you did make a stellar video though. I liked and subbed! I'll definitely be tuning back in 🔥
