Really enjoyed this video, it was so well edited! Fantastic music, loved the zoom in view to see your brush strokes and loved your study. Thanks for the treat and good luck with the big painting!
Really like the 'scruffy' style of the study with all the dry moppy effects from the scrubbing with the round brush. I like that look, it's akin to the scaffolding around a building which often looks far more interesting than the clean look of the finished building. It's the structure of how it all knits together. Cheers Andrew, gave me a few ideas there.
Andrew, I have a bit of a problem with the color blue. It is a cold color in itself and all seascapes, water, sky look rather cold to me. Recently I painted, unfortunately from a photograph, a hot summer landscape. Cloudless sky, calm sea, sand, pine trees and their very beautiful shadows :))) And I got stuck because I couldn't capture the hot air in colors. I live on the Baltic Sea and it's a cold sea. Could you advise me what colors of blue to use to make it hot, but not like in the Caribbean? :)) Only on our northern seas? It's easier for me to paint a storm than heat, unless there are people on the beach, but without them, I can't. Warmest regards!
Thanks for watching Dan. I did some a couple of years ago and loved painting the car lights in the distance. I really enjoy the colours of morning and evening though
Like the combination of blues with manganese and other colors added ... Also noticed how you hold the brush far back and use all sides of brush to create spontaneous strokes throughout the painting with your personal color mixtures ... Looks like you made a great start on the larger one!
A quick question...I'm sure that I saw you as a 'wild card' on Landscape Artist Of The Year this last season (2023)...am I wrong..? Love this painting. Best wishes..David.

Lovely & loose. The sea colours that you get with Manganese blue are lush!
Thank you Rachel. I started using Manganese blue as a cheaper alternative to Cerulean but now I prefer it
loved the raged edges .
Thanks Tony - adds to the sketchy feel

Fantastic! Great subtle use of all the different blues. You ever done nocturnes? I think you’d be good at them
Also what a great studio dog you got to keep you company!
He’s a good boy

Hello Andrew from Ireland.☘️
Hello there Rosemary - hi from Cornwall
@@AndrewBarrowmanArt I really love Cornwall Andrew. I spent a week in Camborne many years ago.
@@rosemarymccarron3887 the North coast (not too far from Camborne) is great

Thank you so much Nancy - I like to make full use of the brushes 😃

Thank you - I was a wild card on the show, but it was around 5 years ago at Fountains Abbey
Very interesting. May I ask: which color have you used for preparing the board to paint the actual painting on?
I used an old wooden drawing board to tape the off white newsprint paper onto
Thank you, but the final board has a yellow/orangeish color - which color is that? 😉
That first brush is terrible!
All my brushes are terrible 😃
