Our Rating System:
We are both firm believers that it is unjust to review and rate an album after only hearing it one time therefore our method for reviews is much different than everyone else on RUclips.
First off, not only do you get two individual opinions for each and every album but we actually take the time to listen to each album many times over the course of a week in order to gather elaborate opinions on it. We typically post our First Impressions of the album after listening to it for the very first time and then a week later we post our final review with a score.
Our scoring method is unique to this channel as well. We each rate the album out of 10 but anything above a 7/10 simply just gets our Toe Tag. In order for an album to make it onto the list above it must receive Two Toe Tags. It if only gets one or none then it does not make our coveted list.
Any album that receives Two Toe Tags is considered a top quality album of elite status and highly recommended by both of us. We hope to add an array of metal genres and sub-genres to our list so be sure to Subscribe and turn on Notifications so you will always be in the loop with all the awesome metal we review!

In flames is my favorite band of all time. They just have a very unique sound that I haven’t heard any other band replicate.
Brandon Hutto Same her man, In Flames is what perfection and orgasm sounds like music wise. And if you like their music, check out Eyes Wide Open, their album Aftermath actually sounds a lot like the style of In Flames!
Joachim Dixon Sweet! Will do brother!👍🏻
Listen to Clayman
I've been an IF fan for a very long time. All of their music is beautiful.
old in flames was a totally different band in 90's they were true melodic death metal kings
Parkway drive have a simular music video.
He is Sweden actor 😁
My God this band never fails, this is the moment i've been waitin' for
Heard this live a couple nights ago, it was brilliant.
You can't judge In Flames if all you heard was post 2006. Clayman, Whoracle, Colony and Reroute to Remain are all epic albums.
Reroute is my favourite
@@ding1r It's definitely a great one.
The "demon" is their mascote, The Jester, the actor is swedish and is a star in the serie MR. Robot (you shpuld check that out) great review, love you guys, just (I know I'm only one requesting, but make Night Eternal song by Moonspell) rock on :)
Well, as a long time IF fan, I don't see Crawl Through Knives and Take This Life as their biggest hits (nor commercially, nor musically). Whoracle-Colony-Clayman album trio were actually trend setters at their time, incredible amount of bands copied that Gothenbug metal style. If you are listening to their new, simplified style, and you didn't know them before, you cannot fathom their importance and their effects on the genre. Along with other notable bands (ATG, DT, the list goes on) they pretty much invited half of the early metalcore riffs.
They honestly have a very similar trajectory to that of Metallica. Early raw album (lunar strain, kill em all), but went on a 3-album stretch that were just masterpieces (whoracle/colony/clayman, ride the lightning/master/justice)... then suddenly got a lot catchier for one album (reroute, Black album)... then went on a steady decline for the next decade outside of one more good album (come clarity, death magnetic). Finally, most recent music, they both came out with one song that was just nasty (I the Mask, Spit out the Bone).
In flames - trigger
Must do it Pls!!!
IN FLAMES WE TRUST! FAN TILL I DIE
As a long time In Flames fan who was, to say the least, a little disappointed by the last two albums, I absolutely loved this song. As long as the rest of the album carries this vibe then we'll have a good one on our hands.
But in flames had to go and kill the vibe the same day and release another single that was utter garbage
Have you heard I, the Mask? Probably the best IF song i've heard in years.
@@Druminator82 I have, and each of the songs they've put out so far have been awesome. I'm gearing up to be thoroughly satisfied by the new album
I have to agree being completely disappointed by siren charms & battles for the most part & being a long time in flames from back in the day, this song is great & I the mask is just as good, really hope they don't shit the bed after releasing those 2 good songs with the rest of the album
@@dynamo4543 It's an okay album. Definitely better than the past 2 at least.
The album "Come Clarity" featuing "Crawl Through Knives", and the previous album were amazing. Songs like, pinball map, clouds connected, ect..
How about a SOILWORK - Stålfågel reaction?
While She Sleeps dropped a new single today called Haunt Me, I would absolutely love to hear your guys' thoughts on it. Not sure if you've ever heard any of their work but definitely worth a listen imo
Decent song, sounds like their Come Clarity era. Their older stuff is the best imo, with albums like Clayman and Whoracle
Well said
It seems it has the same addiction elixir as the mentioned by you album
Jester Race was great, back when In Flames was an actual death metal outfit. These modern tunes are lame and rehashed . Pop music chorus is terrible. Together with At The Gates and Dark Tranquillity these guys once ruled the Swedish dm scene...
Clayman!
Agreed
Man this is a band that has changed sooo much, but I can't say it's a bad change, some of the old school guys have a sound that changes so drastically, like Enslaved or Ulver, this is definitely a track I could have playing in the background if I was, say, doing a tat for someone, or working on a piece of art, not bad!
Heard this track the other day.. jaw dropped to the floor suitably impressed.
Had the same thoughts about the video as Vileself (an inner demon either trying to come out, or trying to be supressed).
The lyrics have an interesting feel to them. Whilst coming across slightly aggressive and clearly negative they are delivered in a powerful and uplifting/uptempo manner, which kinda makes you wonder "where exactly is this song going".
There's a feeling of inner rage being supressed and then coming out during the track, and for that the music video conveys it absolutely perfectly.
If I had to guess the song meaning, I'd say it's centered around a failed relationship which is at the point where you go "you know what, I don't care what you say or do... I'm above whatever crap you're trying to pull".
I've been into In Flames for a while though (Sounds of a Playground Fading comes to mind immediately as a decent album). This track has a similar feel to "Ropes" and "Deliver Us".
“We have a sad man”
-That dude
Great review
Soilwork - Stålfågel
As an In Flames fan over the better portion of twenty years, people constantly compare "old vs. new", their style is adaptive making every album truly unique. Some people seek the same sound within every album by a band, I'm not one of those people. In Flames is a truly differential melodic experience
Parkway Drive did this style of video a while back for Wishing Wells. Which you guys should listen to!
The guy is a Swidish actor Martin Wallström
Parkway drive. Wishing wells........same video.Awesome song
You guys need to find The Jester Race, Whoreacle Colony and Clayman
Mind blowing
It's a lot more different than what I normally listen to
"I don't know who that guy is", !? :)He's an actor.
Rollo of Vikings is here 😱😱😱
2:50 Martin Wallström, or Tyrell Wellick from Mr. Robot...
Colony , Clayman and The Jester Race ... top 3 of In Flames !!!
I think its better than the last few albums and nice to hear a touch back to Come Clarity but still not their best work.
Sounds more like sense of purpose/sounds of a playground fading.
Listen to the 90's In Flames. That was the best period in their career. They have some great tracks after that too but Jester Race, Whoracle and Clayman is awesomeness 🤘🏻
If your listening to anything that isn’t from their first 6 albums your missing out. After clayman they really changed their sound.
Nice review guys, very enjoyable to watch \m/! Do you guys ever consider reviewing smaller bands? My band just dropped a new single. We cite In Flames as a main influence, as well as bullet for my valentine, as i lay dying, trivium, and all that remains. Would love to hear your guys opinion on our new track 'Become (The End of Me).
You guys need to review the Colony album or one of the songs off that record. You’ll prob like that
parkway drive - wishing wells have the same type of video. should defiantly listen to it if you havent. sick song
This theme is same with UDO's Dirksneider - I Give As Good As I Get. The legendary original vocalist of ACCEPT.
In Flames - When The World Explodes (ft. Emilia Feldt) (
Similar vid it's In This Moment - Fighter. 100% the same. You should watch and listen to it
1:04 Well.... Hope dies last right? ;)
Love the song. Video kind of creeps me out
I like it aaaalot
"hope the video is good" :) :) :)
That's a swedish actor. A good one, on of few good swedish actors.
Biggest album cant be Come Clarity, its Colony. In Flames Rules! I the mask got me hooked
Embody the Invisible is one song by them that you should definitely check out... or F(r)iend (Live at Sticky Fingers, 2004, U&A DVD)...much better than the album version
i thought you were going to bash this song since you guys prefer songs with more complex riffs but this song its a bit radio friendly but still having some of that old school In Flames we used to love
I feel like this music video is a Parody of Parkways Wishing Wells
Most of the new album is great should listen to it
first...and nice vid guys !
This song is dec. Their other new one is trash so glad you did this one :)
React to Cthulhu from Alkaloid!! And maybe review there albums. There so good
Haha looks like Wishing Wells, but both sound good imo
This track definitely beats their past 3 albums. This song sounds like a mix between the Come Clarity and A Sense Of Purpose era.
I suspect that the guy in the video is the vocalist (Anders Friden is his name). His eyes look like Anders. Maybe he shaved the beard?
AnimetalViking no that’s not the singer. No clue who that is lol
It's the guy from Mr Robot (as they said), and the official video mentions.
interesting video? not really, because parkway drive did it before in flames thought about if ("wishing wells")
What about albums like Colony??The Jester Race ?? Clayman??Subterranean???etc....
Come clarity is far away from those albums :D
Peter Leskovjansky From what we are told those are all great albums but where we’re from In Flames didnt really start to gain popularity until Take This Life came out.
I really want to give IF another chance, I have listened to them since Colony. Unfortunately, the last 2 albums, and this new material, doesn't do it for me. With that said though, I did enjoy the guitar in this song.
Did u listen to their stuff from the 90s because that’s what they are known for?
@@claym3040 I started listening to them when their current album was Colony, have seen them live a couple times. Great live band, and would see them again. The style of their recent music just hasn't been my taste is all.
If you guys want to check out in flames more, then the Clayman - A Sense Of Purpose era is the best. The Jester Race, Whoracle and Colony are very good to as far as their more Underground sound but their last three albums have been dogs. Which is very upsetting as Ive been a fan for so long, and now every time they release an album I feel like a battered spouse cause ill pick it up thinking this is gonna be the fighting of the ship and there’ll be a few good songs but the rest are bad. I like this song though
06:05 Anders Friden
You should check out Behind Space by in flames. You said nothing really grabbed you, this song did it for me way back in the day. After Come Clarity, they kinda went downhill. I am above is their comeback. But do behind space.
You guys never heard Whoracle or Clayman? You should check them out.
I liked this song but the other one they released is very very bad...
I think the song is decent. The guitar solo was pretty sick. Not something I would put on repeat though.
They pay for jesper stromblad 's departure..
React to immaculate conception
Pretty much their biggest hit? Haha......cloud connected is their enter sandman
Steven Lopez Never heard of it.
@@TwoToeTags don't lie to me 🤣
Steven Lopez Not even kidding. I just looked up the song and it doesnt ring any bells at all. It’s definitely no “Enter Sandman”. They dont have anything close to Enter Sandman. That song is in a league of its own when it comes to popularity within the genre.
@@TwoToeTags you're absolutely correct, it's nothing like enter sandman. But LIKE it as far as it being one of THEIR most popular songs. Like one you'd recommend to someone to get them into the band. Everyone goes crazy when they play it live, It's their enter sandman.
The other reactor actually looks like anders
These are completely new and different In Flames. Solo was ok but nothing special. Ok-ish song when compared to some other garbage they released last decade.
You have to react to December Flower song of theirs from 1996. One of the best solos and songs you will ever hear.
Some other earlier In Flames songs you should check out that will blow you away:
Pinball Map
Jester's Race
Artifacts of Black Rain
Colony
Bullet Ride
My Sweet Shadow (mid In Flames, still unbelievable song)
Only for the Weak
Clayman
Dead Eternity
There are many many more but it would be too long of a post. Hope you get to check some of these out. December Flower first definitely. Thanks.
"I think their biggest album was Come Clarity..." ::stop video::
robert haibi Album sales: Come Clarity - 450,000 copies. Next is A Sense of Purpose at 275,000 copies.
U sure you dont need more rings on your fingers ? .... rly ?
Krabbhatt More rings? I wouldnt mind having more fingers so I could wear more rings.
Decent it’s really catchy but they just don’t have it
Cant really talk about inf lames if you dont know "old" in flames...
It sounds like radio friendly teen rock. Nothing wrong with that but not my cup of tea whatsoever. Your review is again very entertaining.
No, it doesn't.
Lol wut, no it doesn't.
You need go back to the beginning.
Clayman, just sayin.
Love the song, seems to be a mixture of their old style and the new. Like a course reversal considering their new stuff was pretty weak.
That being said, the video sucks.
I enjoyed this song very much. Video not so much. To me blatant rip off of wishing wells from parkway drive but no biggie for me.
March is stacking up as a great month for metal. This album comes out march 1st as well as the new demon hunter which is coming out with 2 new albums on that date called war and peace.
March 8th new children of bodom and the raven age which is a very underrated band. So if can request a song please check out the raven age betrayal of the mind. Very awesome melodic song and also one of the guitarist is the son of Steve Harris of Iron Maiden!
I am sick of this rection shit every time i listen to music on youtube i get reaction crap on my page! Fucking youtube....
Reminds me of Sinead O'Connor's video for Nothing Compares To You. LOL! Shitty video for an almost alright band. Overall weak... Only album I ever had was Soundtrack To Your Escape.
Clean vocals are annoying and boring. Yay
