the bitter truth is that Epica has already surpassed all bands of the style, technically speaking. the transitions in this song are fantastic. Heavy, melodic and powerful

Isaac Delahaye and Mark Jansen on guitars. Mark is the primary harsh vocalist and band founder. Everyone here was at Retrospect in 2013, but Isaac didn't have his hair up, and Coen Janssen on keyboards DID have hair then. The last lineup change was in 2012 when Rob van der Loo joined on bass.
Omega Alive was the virtual concert done when they couldn't tour due to restrictions in 2021. KOH part I and part 3 were played back to back, 27 minutes of awesome, in the middle of the approx. hour and 45 minute set. Anything from that concert is worth checking out.
The 3 Kingdom of Heaven's were on 3 different albums. This was from the 4th album, Design Your Universe. The title was Kingdom of Heaven (A New Age Dawns Part V), not called part 1 for KOH originally. That album title track is Part VI of A New Age Dawns, The 2nd album title track, Consign to Oblivion, is part III.
KOH part 3 is from the 8th album ,Omega, and YES please do the Omega Alive version. KOH part 2 is the 6th album title track, The Quantum Enigma (Kingdom of Heaven Part II), the best choice for that is probably the lyric video. It's also the shortest of the 3 , at just under 12 minutes. lol

Omega Alive was their covid online streamed show. Recorded over the course of 5 days on multiple sets and with great production. It was a huge success.
There is Kingdom of Heaven part 3 from the same concert. There is no live version of part 2.

Hi, Kingdom of Heaven Part 2 is called 'The Quantum Enigma', there are no live performances with decent sound quality, the best choice is going to be a Lyric video, this one sounds very good, on the YT channel 'Dead Night'

Yeah, the title can make it kind of confusing what the songtitle actually is. This song is called "Kingdom Of Heaven Part 3", but the "Kingdom Of Heaven" songs are also part of a series of songs with similar lyrical themes called "A New Age Dawns". These songs are spread out over several albums.
They have another series of songs called "The Embrace That Smothers" where the first songs in the series isn't even by Epica. This series of songs was started in Mark Jansen's (the guitarist that does the growls) previous band, After Forever (Floor Jansen from Nightwish was the vocalist in this band).

very cool to hear the analysis of guitars and other instruments in music, thanks for that 👍 you don't see the audience here because it was 2021, when due to the pandemic the bands couldn't go on tour with concerts and many bands did online concerts in stream format . But the guys from Epica decided to make not just an online concert, but a whole show. And it was a very grandiose online concert and the icing on the cake of this concert was "Kingdom of heaven part 3", you have yet to see it 😁
as for the first part that you saw now, it's all one song, just lyrically it consists of 5 chapters and I think it confused you 😆
as for “kingdom of heaven part 2”, this song is only in the studio recording format and to be honest it loses a lot to parts 1 and 3, so it’s better to skip it and watch other gorgeous songs and Epica performances, because there are a lot of them in 20 years of their work 😁
we are waiting for your analysis of “Kingdom of heaven part 3” from Omega Alive 😈

The bassist is Rob van der Loo and he joined Epica in 2012. He played in and with a lot of bands like Death, Testament, Sun Caged, Ayreon, Stream of Passion, After Forever, Delain and many others. In 2011 he played in MaYaN wich is another project of Mark Jansen (gitarist, harsh vocals in Epica). Epica drummer Ariën van Weesenbeek also plays in MaYan. Because of this connection Rob started to play bass in Epica from 2012 onward.
You two should check out MaYaN. They have 4-5 vocalists on stage. 🤘😎

Great reaction guys! Some of Epica’s songs are linked through a common theme and the second part of their title indicates what song cycle they are a part of. In this case the song cycle is A New Age Dawns and is composed of seven songs. The first four are from the Consign to Oblivion album. They are Hunab K’u (Prologue), The Last Crusade (Part 1), Mother of Light (Part 2), Consign to Ob;livion (Part 3). The last 3 are from the Design Your Universe album. They are Resign to Surrender (Part 4), Kingdom of Heaven, Part 1 (Part 5 of the cycle), and Design Your Universe (Part 6). The other song cycle, the Embrace that Smothers, actually crosses bands. The first four songs were written by Mark Jansen while he was a member of After Forever (Floor Jansen’s first band) and are on their first album Prison of Desire. The last 3 are on Epica’s first album The Phantom Agony. The song Follow in the Cry from that cycle has been performed by both Floor with After Forever (ruclips.net/video/BNZvf0aur8o/видео.htmlsi=-d9iyi0v38xUL1v30 and by Simone with Epica (ruclips.net/video/QEneccqVCtI/видео.htmlsi=VrHJyK82LRkuyHDo).
Can’t wait for Kingdom of Heaven Part 3. The Omega Alive performance is amazing and the song is the Magnus Opus IMO. After that you should checkout some of their beautiful ballads. A great one two reaction is Rivers and Once Upon a Nightmare from Omega Alive. Rivers is acapella on Omega Alive and is truly beautiful. There are also lots of beautiful versions of Rivers including the official music video, one shot live video from Chile with some stunning video work by Jen the Panda, and the official live version with Apocolyptica from their recent European headline tour. On the Omega Alive video Once Upon a Nightmare follows Rivers and has a stunning guitar and piano introduction I think you guys would enjoy. Goes without saying that Simone’s vocals in both are stunning.

This is one song only, even if the title is confusing.
"A New Age Dawns" is a "saga" which spans across all along Epica's discography. Regularly, one of their songs is tagged "A New Age Dawns" (and after many years, this saga has many parts, here it is "part V").
"Part V" here, has been tagged on Kingdom of Heaven (which had no "part 1" at the time). But after, they created a trilogy to Kingdom of Heaven, so now, we refer it as "Kingdom of Heaven Part 1, A New Age Dawns part V" !
    But, the trilogy is :
Kingdom of Heaven Part 1 : best in Omega Alive (so, the one you just did here)
Kingdom of Heaven Part 2 : very rarely played, I know only the studio version for this one.
Kingdom of Heaven Part 3 : best in Omega Alive (which makes feel Part 1 as an appetizer!)

Why did I answer your "You know what time it is" with: "Yep. TRANSITIOOOON!"? lol. They always do something epic in their performances. Like the keyboard player hitting the guitars. But part 3 (same performance) is totally epic! No, I won't give you any spoilers. Just know you have something to look forward to. :)
