Briggsy you promised to go over light, medium and heavy tackle setups for the new guys but never made it past light tackle. I hope you keep your promise please mate. Tight lines 😃
Briggsy youve been on fire with the uploads lately. Favorite fishing related content on RUclips. I dont watch just for the fishing but also the stuff thats surrounding it. So entertaining, keep enjoying what you do bro because it reflects!
Hey Briggsy, I stay away from social media for my own good but I youtube daily. I enjoy your onscreen demeanor and think you add to the fishing community in a positive manner. Would love to see the New Saltist in hand. Keep up the good work, we all look forward to it. Thanks!
That's one sick reel. The normal saltist magseal is very popular here in durban south Africa. For the guys at Daiwa to combine the mq tech with the magseal tech; put in a beautiful drag knob and most exciting of all; include a knob real handle with the reel instead of the consumer upgrading the flat handles with the gomexus is what sells me on these reels. Here in the east coast of South Africa I would use it to target shad/tailor; silver or bronze bream;salmon;garrick on livey; brusher;stumpie and maybe some of the smaller flat fish. Amazing reels. I have the entry level bg5000 and bg 6500 and it has served me well. Great stuff guys.
Briggsy ive been a great fan of your fishing videos, your videos always makes me hyped to go fishing, learned a lot of useful techniques from you i wish you more power and more videos to come on your channel!! Yeew! -Love from PH❤
hey briggsy! my mate, kyan house, he goes fishing with me and the boys, and he showed me a video you sent to him! just saying that you are an absolute lad and i hope you continue to make amazing content. YEW!!!!
That thing is so sick. Ive always enjoyed your gear vids. Hope to see more of them popping up brother. Miss the old lure pictures in the sunlight and the trips to Duncans store. Yeeeew.
I heard that another generation of the TD sol came out. TD sol MQ!!! It looks so amazing! If you buy it in the future, please do a review of it Please! And by the way, the reel looks amazing. I congratulate you for being the FIRST one in the world to hold the reel. It looks sick.
Took my brand new Battle II 5000 for a spin yesterday for the very first time and I hooked a 20lb yellowtail using a Ugly Stik X2 (medium hard) rod ruclips.net/user/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . This combo was recommended on some website and it did not disappoint me. The reel is smooth, the drag click is pretty cool cause i think it adds to the excitement of fighting the fish, personally the drag is my favorite part. I use braid and 300 yards will fill the entire spool. This combo is my main setup from now on although I have to disclose I am new to fishing.
This new Daiwa Saltist MQ looks awesome, I can't wait to get one for inshore fishing Barred Surf Perch , Strippers and white sea bass which we catch here in California. 🐟🎣🐟🎣🐟 Very Nice Clip keep it up
What lb line do you have on it? Also what do you target with it? I was thinking of the 6000 for chucking out 60gram jigs from the rock. I was wondering if this is too heavy
Love the colors I just past on your link to vid to a buddy in Hawaii just starting out :) told him this looks perfect small plugs and jigs and dunking.
I would sure like to use the new Daiwa Saltist 5000D MQ here in South Texas on our jetty’s and surf for Redfish, Jacks and Sharks. Thanks for the reveal!
Awesome reel, set one up on a Trevala jigging rod for my kayak off the coast of Mexico. Looking at a 2500-3000 series for my light set up I blew up last season. Highly recommend the Saltist MQ, bonus points it matches my BornSalty Ranger 12 yak in Aqua Camo??
I just unboxed mine and when I first unbagged it I thought they sent me a 4000 instead of a 5000! So I'm a bit worried about the main shaft being strong enough for my intended use. So order yours at least one size larger than what you expect. Oh well, I'll use it on the flats where I can back off the drag a bit and put it on a lighter rod! Also Briggsy, that little rubber cover is just protection for the fine handle threads and can't be used unless you want to leave the chrome plastic cap off. Speaking of which is my biggest disappointment! For $320 they could have used a blue, black or silver anodized aluminum cap instead.
I have just purchased my Daiwa 21 Saltist MQ 5000D-H, I will combine it with my Daiwa 109MH Over There 12-65. I tried to find shallow spool but seems there is none for this one...
I would love a descent reel to go night fishing with. I go with my mate every two to three weeks fishing in Sydney harbour and the reel that I use just doesn’t cut it. I’ve lost a heap of fish in deviation. I have two rods to take now with one reel. Saving for a really good real but one those would be a game changer and I can start giving it back my mate when he laughs every time I drop one! Love your show.
Man Saltist is the reel that made never look back into Shimano again. Back then, I wish they have the power knob rather than the stupid T-handle knob. This version looks sick, love that handle man. But I wish they could design the knob for drag better. Also I wish the sound of the drag could be a little louder like Saltiga. That would be nice.
saw this on the icast channel. was going to get the bg mq for casting soft swimbaits for jew off the headlands but wen i saw the saltist mq in the 5000 that was that n it will be strapped to my seajigger. just finished watching tommy with the new products as well. looking forward to seeing u put these reels through their paces briggsy.
best looking reel I've seen in a long time, I would use his reel for a casting from landbased and off boat for kahawai and small kingys because i live in nz, and definetley some micro jigging
Hello Briggsy Buddy. I’ve been watching you videos for a couple years now due to this COVID-19 bullshit. Great watching your adventures and I’d love to be there fishing with you an your crew too. Stuck on a island for a week wouldn’t bother me , and eat what is caught. I’d love too have a nice lighter reel for catching mackerel, flounder , Black Sea bass , cod an pollock , faults albacore ( Albies ) , an schoolies which we call smaller Sripers. (Striped Bass.) I did get a new Saragossa 1400 last year and it’s a bit large for smaller fish under twenty pounds. The Stripers get up to 80# around here. Along with Tuna and sharks . I have a few junk Penns and don’t use them anymore. Just junk. With the viruses going around money has been vary tight. Can get to the bay to fish, but only with a huge reel and get tiresome. I’d love to be able to afford a smaller reel for sure. Fish is one of my favorite meals. Don’t hunt much anymore either because bullets are so hard to get, so I fish for food, with a huge reel. HAHAHAHAHAHA That’s why the island wouldn’t worry me. I fish to eat an feed my family too. I do fish fresh water too at times for lake trout an landlocked salmon. Brooks an streams for brook trout. Fly rod an ultra light rod an reel because the stream is just a mile down the road. For the season I think it’s fished out. So go to the Eastport pier for Mackerel to eat and bait. So you see my friend how I could really use a reel like that. I got too big and too small for the right type of applications. Besides I’d love to be frothing from opening an unboxing a new reel. It would be like Christmas to me. Like a kid on Christmas morning. HAHAHAHAHAHA 🤣🤣🤣 I called you my friend because I’ve been watching every video for a couple years now and it’s like I already know you. We’ve really got a bit in common also, body size an weight too. That’s the crazy part. Nobody is usually my size. Everyone is always bigger than me , and I’d be the one swimming out to the boat too an save gear. HAHAHAHAHAHA So to me I call you Brother Briggsy to friend that I get to watch you videos too. A lot of my friend that I introduced to your channel has subscribed and we all watch it faithfully. So you have a quite-a community around here also the 🏔 in Maine USA. So love ya brother and always be safe an keep tight lines. Cheers to all the fishing community that support you !!! 🎣🌊 to 🎣🏔😎
That blue color is mental 🔥🔥🔥..frothin to go fishing for small GT or Cod. Just wondering how that drag sounds will be if big banger hit ur lure n run like torpedo.
I really really want that but im not living at australia because im at the phillipines 😭 such a assbang looking reel its so SEEK 🔥🤘 REALLY GOOD REVIEW BRUH love it 💖
Keep in mind since this has the magseal it will be difficult to service it yourself, since Daiwa doesnt sell the original magseal to the public. Let alone you also need the special socket so you can open the side plate of the reel. Other than that, it seems to be a kickass reel.
Yo Briggsy boy the reel looks super cool. I will use it totally for Shore Jigging. Like any other Saltist I'm sure these boys have the muscle to stop those decent size Trevs Kings and some nice Koodaz. I've got the BG Mag-Sealed 4000 and here in India I use it for Queens Jacks Snappers(MJs and FMs) and Cods etc. Love the reel mate perfect size beautiful colour a ton of stopping power, what more could an angler want? Pamela Anderson! 🤪
Hi Mate, used it a fair bit never needed a service, landed me some good fish 👍 just gave it away a month back to a young fisho because I got the 4000 and 6000 mini Saltigas which has me covered for that size reel now.
@Briggsy sweet as, cheers mate, my second generation saltist just died a horrible death so looking at the 8k version, I'd take your advice over anyone's, thanks!
That reel looks bonza. A bit out of my price range. I'd use a 5000 for saltwater spinning with 30 lb braid -- tailors, red drum, Spanish macs, Garrick, etc.
Your channels dope man! Also you’re so lucky to live in australia and be able to ocean fish lmao… so many different cool species… all i get up here pretty much in southern ontario canada is bass pike and musky lol
Briggsy "I don't read the instructions" then "I always threw this part out thinking it was part of the packaging". That's why you read the instructions for new parts they add. Remember kids look at the instructions you might learn something.
This reel looks so sweet. It will be perfect for large king mackerels, red snappers, cobia, & midsize groupers of Texas fishing. Not sure how it will handle a large jack cravelle. But I will put it to the maximum stress test and let you guys know how it perform…..👌🚣♀️🎣🐟
Yeah im currious as how well this reel will perform against those fish you mentioned and if its in the same or better level of refinement against the Daiwa Certate LT

Yo Briggsy tell Daiwa to send Cavy one to Indonesia it looks EPIC!!
Agree!
Cavy you should get one for self it looks amazing. Should work really well when your fishing the surf🔥
Yewwwww🤙

Battle 2 is decent but not close to a Saltist MQ
So keen to get my hands on one of these new Saltist MQ! Great unboxing video Briggsy!
Im glad you showed that reel, I was just about to order the older version saltist now I'm getting this one.
This new Daiwa Saltist MQ looks awesome, I can't wait to get one for inshore fishing Barred Surf Perch , Strippers and white sea bass which we catch here in California. 🐟🎣🐟🎣🐟 Very Nice Clip keep it up
i got the 6000 mq today and i love it, has a very good center weight and feels lighter than the previous 17" model

absolutely love the unboxing and whats new kinda vids its a good way to now the new products from daiwa
So pretty. I could use one as I found out my old 3000 size didn't hold enough line when I went out with a Buddy looking for rock fish and ling cods.
Fishing for big Tarpon in Tampa, FL!!! Love the videos keep up the great work!!!
I love and enjoy watching your awsome videos every time you up load one.

My local tackle shop had it for a month here in the US. Seems robust and reliable but I feel I can get 5m further on Shimano beveled spools.

Tops mate, I have been hanging for the release of those bad boys. Got the new Saltist rod now for a reel 👍👏
Looks so good love the colour.
I have the last gen of that size. So tempted by the new one
Man Diawa would be a great sponsor to have, I would be frothing every time a new reel came in.
2 Briggsy videos in a row! It’s a good way to end the week 🍺🍺
Love the work Briggsy keep it up🔥🔥🔥

Nice one Briggsy, I’d pair it with my palms 993 and try to finally land a kingy this summer in Sydney 🤙🤙

2 years on briggsy.
Is this still a good reel in todays market? How has it held up?
Hi Mate, used it a fair bit never needed a service, landed me some good fish 👍 just gave it away a month back to a young fisho because I got the 4000 and 6000 mini Saltigas which has me covered for that size reel now.
@Briggsy sweet as, cheers mate, my second generation saltist just died a horrible death so looking at the 8k version, I'd take your advice over anyone's, thanks!
Hi briggsy, do you know when it will be available on other countries?
Same with Daiwa bg MQ nothing change only the blue color
By the way, left side handle is the proper setup, as evidenced by the manufacturer!
From shipwrecked to unboxing.. life moves fast..
Hey bro i'm sure your asked this all the time. Are we going to get an update about what happened to MTF. Thanks
New saltigas are great too.. both conventional and spinners

Yeah im currious as how well this reel will perform against those fish you mentioned and if its in the same or better level of refinement against the Daiwa Certate LT
Man daiwa make some small looking reels for 5000. My tierra is the same. This looks beautiful so keen to get one!!!!
I’m so keen for this reel to be released
I got the mq5000 and 14000 today but not sure what line should i put on it
good thanks for this video. an impressive reel someone has an idea of when this reel could arrive in europe or where to get it thanks
I am waiting on the 5k and 6k Ballistic to come out. Gonna use it for snapper on soft plastic. My mate is gonna teach me with his boat.
Hey I'm looking for a 2500 size reel and was thinking this or a td black what would u recommend between the 2
What size do you recomend for 50 kg kingfish?
How do you feel about the reel? I just got one. Haven't had the chance to take it for a spin!
Look good! Anyone know when it’ll be released in Australia?
I don't think i can thank you enough for all that you teached me. from gear to techniques, knots and so much more. You're a true inspiration to me!
I always just look at the shim stacks in the manual too. Lol
nice video, does it still comes eith anti reverse?
My name is Jack and I’m 16 years old and I go to currimundi special school and I love my fishing and I would use that reel out off shore Mooloolaba chancing little tuna that bust up all the time and I will use it on my next fishing trip when dad books it.
Awesome looking reel!
so what sort of rod would you pair this with ?
Cant wait for you to use it in one of your vids. FROTHING 🤟
Would love to use it for salmon and or small halibut.
Watching from Trinidad we don't have GT's here but I rock fish for yellow fin jack. I would like to be the owner of one of these
Oh briggsy mate that thing looks so amazing
About the boat did he get the boat back??
Better than certate 5000?
I use to be really into fishing as a kid going with my step dad all the time in his boat now growing up i sort of grew away from it but now im saving for a tinny and want to get back into it i would enter but I probably wouldn't put it to as good a use not to it potential anyway .
Hey Briggsy, the new Saltist looks amazing!
I would love to own one. My wife lost her job last year due to the Covid pandemic so money is very tight so owning one of these could really help us to feed our family.
Take care and tightlines!
if you're looking for one to feed your family then get a penn pursuit III because they aren't expensive but they are really nice for their cost. they have helped me with so much. they are nearly silent and extremely smooth as well. they are also quite durable
use a handline if you really need food. Use the money saved on food
Entitled much?
I would kill to have one of those Daiwa reels mate. will use for jigging in NZ for kingies or top water. but dont have to money to buy me one
What's the drag on a 14k please?
Should I get 5k or 6k for half day fishing trips
Great video champion, I don't use Instagram sorry, so won't be entering , but it's a great thing your doing, will make some kids day amazing, and I honestly don't think i would have a use for it, as i only chase bream and flathead , but i love all your videos champion, I am learning heaps, keep doing what your doing, and maybe a few more big flathead videos, love them,
Hai... Where I can buy this reel ? Can you help me please ? Any site or any shop contact details there at Australia
Hope you are helping me.
Tks
why aussies, even if they are right hand side dominant, hold the rod on the left hand side and the reel handle on the right hand side?? im not saying its wrong or right, just seems counter intuitive to me
I fish almost every day from the beach in south africa and this would be a big upgrade for me.
hay champion I would love to be able to give this to my son to put on a rod to be able to finally get his first solid jack
I want this reel 👀😳😳😳its looks amazing and id use it for bass in the uk useing soft plastics. Bass are the best sport fish we have in the uk 👍🇬🇧💯🔥🐟
Is this better than the BG MQ? I’m getting a new kingfishing reel and I’m not sure which one to get
That would be ideal for shore game angling here in South Africa.
Dec
Nice!
On what rod will you put it? (in particular casting range)
Good looking reel, let's see what it can do:)
