I got an 8000, paired with a Nomad Design offshore spin 40 - 80lb and am running 59lb braid. Love it and the colours match which makes it look like almost like a factory combo.
Make sure to tighten the handle if it sits in a rod holder on your boat. I had three hands somehow unscrew while fishing and driving in route throughout the day. Maybe use blue lock tight???
Yes. I'v had my 10000 trolling getting splashed all day long with salt water for days on end with no access to fresh water washing, a year later it still feels new.
That's correct. It's not if you're not catching anything, it's how you look doing it. Just like on the golf course, not how good you're playing, it's how you look playin
Got a Daiwa reel and loved it, started acting up after plenty use, took it to my local tackle shop to fix, needs 2 parts, total 10 dollars in parts, however one of the parts is on back order and will take up to EIGHT months to arrive. I will never buy another Daiwa ever.
I probably wouldn’t use this for trolling tbh.. just a personal thing best of with an overhead as the clicker will sound louder when hooking up, would be good for flicking stickbaits tho
I've still got my first gen 6000 and 4000 Saltist plus Second gen 8000 Saltist. Honestly I love them never let me down and still going strong 💪. Just need the 3rd gen now to complete the hat trick. Better start saving. Haha Daiwa for life.
Hi mate, thanks for your review. I have a Daiwa seajigger M 30-100g, I use it for flicking lures for Tailor, Salmon....... form the beach and rocks. I thought this reel, but I am not sure If it's right or too strong and maybe the BG MQ could be better. Which size do you recommend? Thanks
Hi mate the BG MQ is the same physical body as the SALTIST MQ. I think if you want lightweight the 6000 would be good but if you don’t mind a little heavier you can also look at the 8000
@@TackleWest thanks mate. So, both reel are the same and the only think is that saltist has magseal body, right. Sorry, in your opinion which one do you recommend. Thanks
Hi TackleWest , can you tell me the Daiwa Saltist MQ 5000D-H is good quality , is it good for catching tailor on the beach or good fishing on the beach and rock. Please let me know , Thank you for your time
@@TackleWest , thanks . Can i have one more question please , can you tell me what different of the Daiwa 19 Certae 5000 and 24 Certate 5000 ? and both the same price in Australia . Please explain . Thank you for your time .
I have a bg4000 and a 5000. The body on the 5000 is massive. Compared to the 4000. The 5000 on my slowpitch jigging rod is like a knuckle buster. Is the mq smaller? My mate has the 5000 saltiga yes top of the range but is way smaller.
I have been using this reel size 20,000 in Fiji for 4 months now. Great reel but the drag is way too silent. They need to make it much louder. You will struggle to hear the sound of the drag over your motor if you are trolling with it. Wonder if I can tinker with it to make it louder...
I thought this model had a reasonably loud clicker especially compared to the last model saltist. Maybe it might be worth replacing the clicker in the one you have.
Negative. The handle spins off if you are on the water in route to fish spots. I have had three somehow unscrew. I lost one overboard the other day. Just a heads up.
I’m hopefully going on a swains reef trip in July and I don’t have any heavy casting combos do you reckon a 20000 size and pe 8-10 rod would do the job for gt Mack’s tuna etc
Trust me Daiwa is better than Shimano. Here in Germany most guys like Shimano too. I bought many Reels over the years from both Companys and Quantum and Penn. Daiwa still Number 1
Daiwa Saltiga is the only reel that is good enough to buy. All others have tactics to improve profit 📈 margins of Daiwa..some crazy oil stuff that has to be applied after 2 -3 heavy fishing 🎣. Shimano is way better.
Just got my new 21 8000 saltist mq. It has a noisy rotor and just feels cheaper and nowhere near as smooth as the last series. So p#$$ed off right now. No I didn't buy it from these guys.

Mate. I did the same! I got the Nomad Design 20-30lbs and matched it with a 4000. They are meant to be!
@@yujin.midaroI just bought these two exact pieces…..for the color. 😂
I bought a 4000. Not sure that I'll take it outside, I'd rather just play with the big handle as I watch fishing videos.
agree. Just grabbed one before they vanish from the market. Love a good crank while watching some blokes at the beach
Make sure to tighten the handle if it sits in a rod holder on your boat. I had three hands somehow unscrew while fishing and driving in route throughout the day. Maybe use blue lock tight???
Can this reel get wet? because I fish within the rivers
Yes. I'v had my 10000 trolling getting splashed all day long with salt water for days on end with no access to fresh water washing, a year later it still feels new.
Definitely one I was looking at for my setup above 20lb stick baiting.
Yeh they are good for that. Look at the 6000 👌
This real is a beast, specially that low gear for slow reeling fishing
That's correct. It's not if you're not catching anything, it's how you look doing it. Just like on the golf course, not how good you're playing, it's how you look playin
How much better is the Saltist MQ over the BG MQ?
It’s almost $100 difference depending where you buy from.
Not a fan of that bright blue though 🤷♂️
bg mq's are the best for the price. they used to be 130$ on ali express for 5000. they still have 14000 for 150$.
bro those reels are soo good, good for christmas island

Where do you live
What size would you go for some trolling around NOR/two rocks and up Exmouth way?
The 6000D I got a little while back is pretty sweet 👌🏻
For a bit of trolling I reckon you go the 10000 size mate
@@TackleWest will be in to see you when I’m ready to get setup then 👌🏻

@@Wade1HUNNID I kind of want it to do double duty for some bigger stick baits and poppers too 😬
@@Wade1HUNNID We trolled HD spins at Scott Reef no worries. Don't need an overhead, and much handier to swap between casting and trolling

What material is the body made of? 😊
I have the medium light daiwa over there beach rod. Would 4000 or 5000 be good for beach fishing?
the 5000 would be the best option for that rod
What country are they made in?
How much The price
Dude us Americans don't know what P3 or P4 line is! Please use in lbs. Thanks
Just Google it...or is that too difficult?
What size would u run for jiging

Are the line roller bearing sealed? Thanks?
Not on these

Nothing wrong with a good bushing in the handle nob

i can't find anyone selling it in the UK lol??
we ship to the UK

What rod would you pair with the 6000 for fishing up north?
Daiwa do a demon blood combo jerk 64 which matches really well with these. Great for using up north
