Wow what a find this rare car is & in such amazing condition too! I forget the last time I have seen a Renault 9 on our roads, unfortunately rust finished them off as most cars built in that era were! I do hope whoever has bought this car that they look after it & keep it in the time warp lovely condition it is in! Thank you for uploading this video.
A beautiful example of a golden oldy & a rare find in the UK. In Colombia they have thousands of these still running albeit not in the same condition as yours !!
So many memories...My dad might have installed the exhaust pipe of that very car. He used to work at the Douai factory, where it was made. I reckon you should contact Renault Classic in France. They may not have one and it would be a great addition to their collection. It's their 120th anniversary. Worth a try for you.
The car is flawless! I love it as well as R11. In Argentina, where I am from, they were largely produced. My father only had the R11 which was and still is a very reliable car. On the other hand the R9 was unfortunately a taxi car so not many are in good condition as you could find a R11. Regards!
At 2:00 when he switches on the ignition, the oil gauge lights up and shows full, then goes out when the engine starts. It’s to the right of the temperature gauge.
I had one just like this but red as my first car. 86 model. First test i did i tried to wobble the steering wheel at 60km/h . I almost rolled over. Second test was top speed. 145km/h in carburetor 1.2l car. I remember i had hard times starting the car in the morning. Always flooded the engine with gasoline if didn't start at first key
I remember my dad owning a white version of a Renault 9 I was in love with it as a kid, because I was a fan of big american style square cars the Renault 9 was the closest we got haha
In Argentina is a very standard car loved by many people just like it's succesor the Renault 19 very nice and i like that it shares the front with the Renault 11 so parts are easy to get and also is a great daily driving car just like the 19 both are very reliable and they share the same 1.6 I-4 engine
You can find a handful of those in that condition or even better in Colombia. I saw a 1988 one a few days back, and it's almost as good as this one, except for the equipment (Here in Colombia we didn't have almost any of the luxury versions; cars were made to last and to endure harsh conditions, no to be luxurious).
Auto = OAP hence condition and low mileage probably. Shame we don`t get to see the heart of these cars, the engines. If you can slam a door you can certainly lift a bonnet.
It's ok seeing super cars but I'd much rather see cars like this real world cars I grew up with that's a gem ❤️👌🏻👍🏻
Yes we love working with these kind of cars!
Renault 9: Car of the Year 1982.

I love these, this one looks brand new.
It is like new its amazing!
Goodness this must be absolutely super rare now. I haven't seen one for so long.
In France we have sometimes but like that It's in museum lol
I sold mine exactly 20 years ago. I saw it last year parked. Still have original papers for the car

Retro style. Very nice. Renault UK surely want that.
Maybe but not been in touch yet!
Thousands of these still running in Argentina, not in so much good condition but they stil run over these roads, lovely car
Nice to hear from you and thank you for sharing.
Very nice, it even has the oil level gauge! Always liked that feature, quite unique on cars of this era.
Yes all the latest technology!

This car is great we love it so original!
Lovely. Renaults in the USA had different gauges. The oil level gauge was particularly handy. Didn't see one on this car.
Different trims did have it

didn't know there were Renaults in USA!
@@NaCh0Ox Oh yes, it was called the Alliance, with AMC in Fall 1983 as 1984 MY. The Renault Encore was the hatchback model.
Impressive! Those R9 and their DeLorean lookalike front end... 😁
