Sweet looking car. I've never heard of Talbot cars. I've always liked station wagons (estate cars). I like the condition. It looks as though it had been parked in a garage all the time, instead of out in the elements. I love the colour. Red. :)
Talbot was first Simca, then Chrysler Europa, before it was bought up by PSA group and became Talbot. The brand was replaced with Peugeot 309 in 1985 except a few vans up until 1993!
Que recuerdos me trae. En mi casa tuvieron un Dodge 1500 de 1980 con el que yo manejé por primera vez. Prácticamente idénticos el 1500 argentino con el Avenger inglés.
I had a Sunbeam 1.6S once with the same dash and bouncy rev counter needle as this, the Sunbeam shared a few parts with the Avenger including the engine, which was bomb proof. Actually it was a bloody good engine, better than the xflow, you just couldn't get the tuning parts for it which was a shame. It had quite a short stroke for its capacity so it revved easily and the bigger bore gave it torque. I fact when I come to think of it the Rootes group had on their books some fantastic engines including the Lotus twin cam and the Climax. What happened? Linwood no more
My father had a 1972 hillman avenger . Estate the older sister of ghe talbot one nnp 150 k was the reg it was a lovely car . But rust underneath sealed its fate im afraid but great car so comfy and smooth i remember
That is rare! Although a lot of these cars were on British roads in the 1970s and early 1980s (either your family had one or somebody you knew did,) the Talbot-badged versions were really the runout models. Compared to the earlier Hunter versions, the Talbots had a softer look and a more French-looking interior, although still tidy. Can't be many of these left!
There was also the Hillman avenger if my memory serves me correctly. I liked them because of their sleek shape and fairly good engines although they had hot spots.
In Argentina was know as Dodge 1500 from early 70's until 1982. Then Chrysler sold the model to Volkswagen and the car was made until 1990 as VW 1500. There are some few units on streets. An iconic Argentine car.
Oh yeah. Gustavo Ríos . "Compatriota" (jaja). The Dodge 1500 alias "el milqui" sold in Argentina since 1971, my father had a 1500 '80, and was almost (interior, wheel, etc) such as it Avenger.
Isn't it amazing that out there in the wide world whilst more cars age...get driven into the dirt...there are a few here and there looked after like they were members of the family. Regularly washed, serviced and kept in immaculate condition...some only used to go down to the corner store and back home again. This looks like one of those "survivor" cars. I hope it goes to a good home because the original owner has probably left this earth. Weird isn't it? We work hard to buy a car and sometimes, just sometimes, the car outlasts us and goes on in the world whilst we wither and decay into dust.
Nice red socks lol................I have been saying for ages that the vast majority of drivers below 40 years of age couldn't start and old car from cold as they would have no idea what a manual choke was and when it was needed.
I noticed it had the Chrysler symbol on the grille, rather than the 'T' for Talbot. I think this was because the dealers changed the badges on their models in the showroom (at the time of the name change), but not the grille.
I had a company car Chrysler Avenger estate in 1978. It was a cheap car. Engineering was a bit shit by modern/German/Japanese standards. Engine was underpowered 1300cc and of ancient cast iron design. The elegant, integrated, swish design lines of the first Avengers had long gone, marred by ugly after-thought bolt on bits from the Roots parts bin - lights, grille etc. Even the top models were only 1600cc. Driving pleasure was.... well,....it was better than walking. The windscreen washer reservoir was under the n/s front wheel arch. Every winter the bloody thing froze up. Useless. But I did loads of business miles in it, and tbh it never actually broke down on me. It was spacious enough, had a nice beige interior with a sort of russet/rust non-metallic exterior. Wind down windows, very basic steering, clunky 4 speed gearbox, not even a cover for the luggage area. I used a blanket to hide my goodies! And I even had to fit my own radio. But then, it was a £2,300 car, iirc. Simple, happier days.
Oh my....look at you!!😯 Wow. Very envious 👏 thank you

Surprised this is here as most succumbed to the dreaded rust. Great looking car.
One of my mates had a saloon version in the same colour back in the 1980s a great little car 👍😎
They are great, very rare now!

This is the same car rebrand since PSA bought it in 1978.

Very true!
Chrysler sold these in the USA as the "Cricket" and in South America as a Dodge.
Thank you for sharing!
The Plymouth Cricket in USA, Dodge 1500 in Argentina
This is a later facelifted Chrysler Avenger that took the Talbot name about 1980, and is different to the earlier Hillman Avenger.

It looks more like a Ford Taunus/ Cortina of the early 70's then a 80's car!
@@MGBetts1 It was probably built when they were still called Chrysler before Peugeot bought out Chrysler and changed the name to Talbot.
The roof rails are from a Passat
