I'd argue that 06's shadow was just the natural progression of his character.
SA2 - he's trying to get revenge, but then realizes that maria wanted him to help humanity
Heroes - shadow forgot everything, and wants to find the doctor to find out the truth about him.
Shadow the hedgehog - shadow finds out who he is and decides to completely let go of the past and move on.
06 - shadow has moved on and has no baggage anymore. he knows who he is, he's made peace with his past, and he is determining who he is himself.
Agreed; in Heroes we start to see him develop a personality of his own and a camaraderie with his partners, basically setting up that his past isn't going to matter in the long run. So with that in mind, if anything Shadow 05 was the diversion from his character development.

Exactly!! 06 made waaaayyyy more Sense for his character than shadow the hedgehog (2005) ever did. Shadow *started* as an anti hero but is ultimately a good guy.
Sonic Prime Shadow's characterization was pretty good. Instead of just being edgy he is serious and is willing to do anything to get the job done. His character is complemented well with Prime Sonic's go with the flow attitude.
Except Prime Sonic was way out of character. For one thing, the real Sonic would never doom the world out of arrogance.

@@livandmaddieftwrobloxnoobs8518 EVERYTHING IS CANON! Every Sonic is the real Sonic! One of Sonic's character flaws is that he is cocky and under estimates his enemies. That's why he got tricked by Eggman at the beginning of Sonic Unleashed and lost the chaos emeralds. That is why he allowed himself to be caught off guard by Knuckles and got knocked out of Super mode in Sonic 3 and Knuckles and lost the chaos emerald again. That is why he got his body swapped with Eggman after trying to claim dibs on a space rock in the Sonic Boom show. That is how Sonic let Tails get captured by the Deadly SIx in Sonic Lost World. Even in IDW comics, Sonic thought he knew better and left Eggman as Mr. Tinker, that led to the Metal VIrus storyline. Just picking and choosing which depiction of Sonic you like and ignoring his flaws will lead you down the road of what Disney has done to Mickey Mouse where originally Mickey was a trickster and now he is just a mascot with no personality of his own. Character flaws make characters interesting and allows us to relate to them.

I wonder how potentially less human actors/interaction for the third movie will effect the story. Considering SA2 has a lot of human elements in it (Gerald, Maria, GUN, Eggman, etc). Also, I still worry about no news as to whether Eggman (whether played by Jim Carrey or someone else) will even show up in it, considering his family history plays such a big role.

When Super Sonic and Super Shadow stop the Arc from crashing into earth, Chaos Control should send Sonic Team back to Mobius with no way of getting back to Earth, effectively writing out the human characters
Well no one is replacing Jim, they made that clear, so either there is no more eggman, or they convinced him to come back.
My only hope is that we get a cinematic cover of Eggman's SA2 theme

I just find it kinda poetic that Sonic 3 was supposed to release in fall of 1993 and got pushed back to early ‘94, meanwhile Knuckles’ Show was supposed to release in like October and got pushed back to early this year. And Sonic 3’s supposed to release fall of this year, while S&K release fall of 1994. If Knux’s show releases on Feb 2 (S3’s release date in the US), that’d be the icing on the cake.

He's cast in an 'undisclosed role'. I think most people believe he is playing Gerald.

If I remember correctly there was a comic released before Sonic 2 showing how Knuckles arrived on the mushroom planet. In that comic the chaotix was there for a single panel. Maybe the Knuckles show will include them in it?

Chaotix exists in the movie universe. So it's very possible that they could show up or be mentioned in the Knuckles miniseries or Sonic 3. If it was me making this, I'd put them in the Knuckles miniseries, because Knuckles Chaotix.

After the storyboard leaks that came out for the knuckles show they're gonna have to start talking. Paramount has been quiet with this show for far too long and it's been about a year since that teaser image from last year. @@mayracordero382

The only time we got to see more of Shadow was in Sonic Prime and he was a fully fleshed out character in that show since Sonic X.

This movie is most likely going to be heavily based on the game Sonic Adventure 2, so naturally they'll need to bring in at least a hand full of Sonic characters, like Shadow, Rouge, maybe Amy, and if Eggman won't be in it(due to Jim Carrey retiring), they could have Metal Sonic brought in to carry out Eggman's goals,
And if they make a 4th movie, they could have it be based on Sonic Adventure 1, with Chaos as the main villain, and bring in Tikal & the Chao, perhaps even throw in Cream & Cheese.
The fact that the second Sonic movie did a great job at rediscovering Knuckles character true to his origin gives me hope that they’ll do Shadow right

Just because the human actors were'nt around at the start of shooting does'nt meant their not there now. And I want Tom and Maddie to be involved in the plot this time from the start. That does'nt mean I want them to overshadow the Sonic charachters obviously but their good charachters and I want to see them interacting with Tails and Knuckles more.

Sonic prime shadow was actually prettly good, he felt kindof like in between of sa2 and sonic 06 shadow I guess
Yes I think the same here, Prime nailed it with Shadow and it's a good thing it came out while the 3rd movie was being worked on. That's another source to take inspiration from now.
It would be great if the shadow prime voice actor voiced also the movie shadow (i doubt we get john griffin)

Yeah, while I enjoy the music, jokes and crazy story we got out of Shadow's titular game, he felt pushed to a caricature of himself in there. It was overboard.

Imagine? I kind of wish they did a little off-hand movie for Sonic CD. I'd shit bricks seeing the Stardust Speedway race in such crispy animation with a grandiose rendition of the US or JP/PAL bad future theme.
Shadow isn't a good guy, but he isn't evil, and this is a hard thing to balance.

He is a good guy tho, you can see that clearly in Sonic 06, he was really cool and cared a lot about his friends’ safety
He is a good person at heart but goes about things in his own way and sometimes those methods are not the most heroic.
He’s also just not an extroverted person like sonic and keeps to himself.
Agreed. He definitely has the capacity to love or care about others, but he’s also VERY broken inside and is not always gonna take the right path.

I'd be fine with Chaotix being in it. But if they had Rouge and Amy by the time they got to the third movie, then Shadow's story could be pretty much fully realized.
2 things:
1) chances are very high this won’t be PG-13. Movies and games get rated differently in different places, most 12+ ratings are the equivalent of an E10+ or PG rating, only some are the equivalent of T/PG-13.
2) Shadow is NOT an anti-hero in SA2, but he IS one in his solo game.
An anti hero is someone who does the right thing for the wrong reasons (they do their own thing whether that aligns with the good guys or bad guys. Think Black Cat, Deadpool, those kinds of characters).
Someone who does the wrong things for the right reasons is what we call a sympathetic villain. Probably the most popular example is MCU Thanos, but also the main antagonist of S3 of sonic prime is a more recent example. In SA2, shadow clearly falls into the latter category

I don't know, I'm more in the camp of shannon chan-kent (who was the bartender lady in the first movie) being amy. She was the voice amy in sonic prime and since that show is done why not bring back a person who was in one of the previous movies and give her a new role? If disney and marvel can bring back yellow jacket's actor from ant-man 1 to be modok in ant-man 3 then I don't see why paramount can't get shannon back to the sonic movies but as amy.

@@PieStudios Well I didn't see them, so I don't know what they say. But I've said this many times before. If someone isn't mentioning a leaker facing legal action, I'd take it with a grain of salt.
One thing I wanna see carried over from The Super Mario Bros. Movie to the Sonic Movie 3 is references to the video game music in the score. The score for the last two films felt so empty and bland because it was just generic superhero music, which just blended into the film and was reduced to white noise. I hope the composer takes notes this time.
Glad to see I was not the only one who enjoyed the humans in Sonic 2! I didn't feel like they were overwhelming, and liked the balanced approach they took with that movie
I'm all for the Sonic 3 movie, but I am even more excited that SEGA announced they they are going to remake Sonic Adventure games! Built from the ground up taking advantage of the generation hardware's power like Frontiers did. They are going to make the game the way it were meant to be made!
I wonder if that means they eventually want to do Sonic Adventure 3. Ian Flynn has mentioned that he is entertaining the possibility of adapting a 'certain popular Sonic story' in the games. If that's the case, then I could see that being the plot of an Adventure 3 game.

I don't defend Forces, however Shadow was pretty well written in 06 when you analyze it. Especially after Shadow the Hedgehog's (the game) true ending. A2 he starts out as a villain, so cunning he even fools the hyper intelligent Dr Eggman (which yes isn't new, but let's not forget he does have an IQ of over 300 even if he's tricked by woodland critters constantly). However with Amy's help he finds the meaning in what Maria meant, to live happy and free, to protect humanity. Then Heroes yes amnesia arc, leading into his own game, where he must find the answer to who he is, hero? villain? anti hero?... no he's so much more complicated than that, leading to him finally fulfilling his promise to Maria.
This shows how influential Sonic and his friends are over the course of time, Sonic himself has never been a hero, just doing what is right, no matter who he faces, whether they're innately evil like Eggman or Shadow, or inherently good like Knuckles and Silver, if it conflicts with his own ideals, he won't be afraid to stand up for what he believes in, whether people see him as good or evil, doesn't matter to him and people can see him however they like. Sonic is the grey, the middle. Shadow meanwhile also moves closer to this, he's more like... dark gray, living his own freedom and ideology, that is a bit more closer to Sonic's now over time, but still his own. Then it's his job throughout 06 to not only show Silver this, but to come to terms with his choices. Because eventually humans will turn on him and see him as evil, thus leading him to fight one of his closest friends Omega, and being sealed away permanently. In spite of that, Shadow won't slow down, and still do what he believes in. To keep his promise to Maria, yes but... not necessarily anymore, mostly, to keep his promise to himself. He rectifies his stance, especially to the audience, and shows he will not waver... until Sega screws him up years later lol.
As a result to Silver moves from being white, innate good, lawful good, sacrifice of the few outweighs the many, to being more light grey, in 1 game, like Shadow before in A2, then again in his own game, Silver realized not everything is always black and white, and there is a cost to every choice we make, no matter how good or bad.
I don't see Shadow's story as oh yeah friendlier guy, he's still edgy Shadow, but a passing of the torch of moral and ideals, and that he will always stay true to who he is, this new him, this better him, thanks to Maria, Amy, Eggman, Sonic, Rouge, Omega, and everyone else. In fact it is that edginess that Sega is frankly screwing his character up in Forces and... somewhat in IDW, I haven't read personally, but watched someone reviewing the comics, and yeah at 1st like a backtrack of character to his edgy days, like the metal virus that one decision he makes without spoilers, too stupid and stubborn for someone like Shadow to make, but once in a while, we do see that developed Shadow.
I Hope that some of the other characters will get introduced because of the knuckles show and that the credits scene for the third movie will hopefully hint towards another movie for a certain time traveller (pls pls pls pls pls pls pl-)

Guys do we all remember the leak we got for the knuckles show in April 2023 I think we might be getting the first episode in April 2024 because we got the shadow leak a year before the release of sonic 3 so it makes sense that they leaked the knuckles show a year before the release

I dont think Shadow necessarily thinks he's doing the right thing, he's amoral but fiercely loyal to those he loves.
Shadow’s a tricky character to get right. He’s VERY broken and doesn’t always align himself with the highest good and isn’t the friendliest. Yet simultaneously isn’t an outright evil villain like Robotnik. He does have the capacity to love/care about others and has an emotional side (Even sheds a tear in SA2). If Paramount can strike that balance, I’m sure he’ll be great.

Hey Sonic Show, have you watched that fan film, Project Shadow?
Shadow's personality is wielding the same weapons that were used to kill his only friend and killing the people he's supposed to protect?
For context, 'Revenge of the Sith' is PG-13. And considering how dark that story gets while still being in the frame of a 'family oriented' franchise, this does provide evidence as to how much of the OG Shadow plot we are probably going to get with Sonic 3.
Ngl, I'm super pumped for this movie. And with the news Jim Carry is back to reprise his role again makes me feel two decades younger with all the anticipation, lol.

But shadow maybe getting to say his iconic quote "damn" is just as exciting
They messed Sonic up SO bad in Sonic Prime. Let’s say Sonic Boom for example. Boom Sonic is literally the speed of sound and his spin dash does a lot more damage from strength and it’s also faster and powerful. In Prime, Sonic’s spin dash and just running in general is a lot slower and I understand that that might be “more realistic” but then again, he’s Sonic. He’s meant to be the speed of sound and be powerful with his main attack.
Also Prime Sonic’s personality. He’s VERY soft, vulnerable and emotional whereas Boom Sonic has to clench his teeth when saying the word “feelings”. Boom Sonic has a funny, sassy and “get the job done” personality which makes him very likeable. I’m just saying, the two are very different and Prime Sonic seems quite…babyish even. I understand he can show emotions such as sadness, fear, worry, etc due to what’s going on (war) but y’know.
I want Eggman to be spoken by alfred coleman lmao
If Paramount decides to have Eggman be shown in CGI in the third movie just so he can be in it, ( I highly doubt they will do that, ) letting his current English VA Mike Pollock reprise his roll as Eggman would be the best choice.
