The poison in his veins is lyme disease, which causes a lot of different types of pain. So the lyme disease is sending signals to his brain that causes pain, which has lead him to changing his frame of mind from who he was before the lyme disease.
He still has to get daily intravenous treatments because of the Lyme disease he got from a tick. He was misdiagnosed and his body and mind were being attacked by the disease and they were treating him with medications to cure his mental illness that they thought he had.. Took a long time and keeping well enough to make his music , stem cell treatments and special diet are necessary after a doctor finally correctly diagnosed him after years of suffering.
The Lyme disease is out of his body now but he still has some persistent secondary infections that are proving hard to eradicate. His Mast Cell disease is much more of a worry. It's largely responsible for his severe autoimmunity and unlike Lyme, it can't be halted, it can only be slowed. Plus he's still in permanent physical pain, (his pig) which on it's own must be hard to deal with, to say the least.
The line "Helter Skelter need an alkaseltzer" that's because of the stomach issues he has from the Lyme disease. Also Helter Skelter means disorderly and confusion, which is a reference to him being undiagnosed for years and suffering from psychosis "confusion" because of it. You have to know his entire story to understand that every word he writes is absolutely relevant. He's mot just throwing words out to fit a rhyme scheme. The man is a lyrical genius but if you don't know his whole backstory it's not always going to make sense. And it's difficult to know everything about him too. I've spent way too much of my life watching Rens interviews and live streams lol. Just trust me every word has purpose and is relevant. I could actually break this one down line by line and explain how it all is relevant to what has happened in his life but it would take me forever lol. Basically the song is referencing his illness and everything that went with that, and him growing up in hip-hop music and the culture. Also just some fun braggadocios ish thrown in there as well.
It’s also been suggested “Helter Skelter” may be connected to the Manson Family and the terrible slaughter they did as apparently there’s some connection to the song of that name with them - and I think leading in to the “I’m a demon I’m a devil” lines. I can’t recall the connections someone made around this…only that a lot of things did seem to fit in this section - but personally I think it’s a stretch, and feels out of sorts for Ren to include.
I love your determination to understand everything. Most of what he writes makes absolute sense if you break it down, however, there is some terminology used in the UK that a lot of Americans don’t know. Yes, he does rap with amazing speed in parts of this one. You’re doing a great job. Mad respect. 😉❤️✌️
Ren's not doing drugs as you interpreted it, It's the medication he was given, when he was misdiagnose with ME. When he was finally correctly diagnosed with Lyme Disease. The side effects the medication, he was given for ME (which he didn't need) ravaged his body. Ren made this vid in 2015, you can tell, he looks younger 😊
He wrote it in 2015 but taped it more recently. That us why the lyrics so strongly reference his illness. He wrote this from his bedroom when he was too sick to leave the house. He us such an inspiration He never gave up.
His references go everywhere movies music wrestling lord of the rings science famous people .anime ...and in almost every song he pays tribute to the music he grew up with from rage agienst to naz to bob marly.to micheal Jackson..and many many more
This. Lyme disease causes inflammation in his brain. Literally, his brain was inflamed because of the bacteria (poison) in his veins, which kept him in constant pain, and changed the way his mind worked. And he designs rhymes that are intertwined with the sickness that he has, which ends up being actually beneficial to his music, and gives him the ideas that turn into something massive. In that way, he's a genuine Frankenstein because he, like Frankenstein, made a monster (which could refer to his music AND his intense desire to make music).
Best thing is to watch and listen to the switch ups and then go back and get the whole meaning with the full lyrics. He's very worth it. None of us understood it the first time for real. Much love
I always try to remember that Ren's lyrics aren't always LITERAL. Like, I believe when he said "poison in my veins" is a reference to all the wrong drugs that had him on, and all the crazy treatments he tried, before they found out it was Lyme's disease that was making him so sick he couldn't function. He said that at one time he was trying to give HIMSELF I.V. fluids...not sure if he was ever an IV drug user like heroin and stuff. Maybe dabbled not sure. But he never speaks on it. Now PILLS on the other hand was an issue for him and they are ALSO in your veins even though not with a needle. GREAT reaction and I KNEW you would appreciate this one.
❤❤❤❤❤drop the song its great, your cadence and switch ups around the 12:40ish time was crazy good, slow down speed up , walkiing out the sentence and riding the dang beat . Yesssir that was fkn fire
By your description I guess I am a true Ren fan...I can't help but to sing along. Well, I try, because that man really has his vocal gymnastics primed and I reeeeeally don't! Lol! Ya, I agree with the other comments, the poison he describes is in his veins is his disease. When you learn what this guy has been through, it really heavies your heart. I'm so glad his health has improved, it's a battle he'll likely face for the rest of his life. Really enjoyed your reaction! Keep it goin'! Don't worry, we all feel the same way when we're approaching 30, you are not alone. Keep doing what you love!
The bars become easier to track when you know him a bit more. There are very few words in any Ren song that don't have meaning. Though sometimes that meaning is a bit whacky. He likes some fun.
The second set of bars that you didn’t get is comparing his music to a nuclear explosion, so it’s a play on the different types of radiation(alpha, Beta, Gamma) and then if it’s too much for you, he’ll help you into the fallout shelter ( nuclear bomb shelter). He’s also flexing in this song rhyming bars using ‘t’s) because it’s supposed to be more difficult and he’s just cruising through it.
Ah, good call - but is that on YT for people to react to or only on the bandcamp release of the Album? I mean the album is dirt cheap - as cheap as he could make it on Bandcamp, but it’s worth warning reactors if they want to do that one, they have to invest a couple of $ I think. I’d say it’s well worth it but..just me :)
Beltеr like a welterwеight helter-skelter need alka-seltzer (Get 'em) Alpha, Beta, Delta, I help you into the fall out shelter (Get 'em) Melt a mind or two with these rhymes, You might find you never felt (Get 'em) A feeling like this feeling, be believing I'm a demon, I'm a devil Like a champion boxer (belter, welterweight, could also be read as his vocals - as in belting out lyrics - pack a punch) helter skelter is basically crazy (which could be both his lyrics and his mental state), alka-seltzer seems like a callback to the line about having thunder in his belly Alpha, beta, delta are often used as callsigns in the military, thus he'll lead you to the fallout shelter because he's going to blow up the music scene his skill is so good that your mind will melt and you will think he has the powers of (or made a deal with, which is a common story in music) a devil (it also ties in to his later lyric about channeling spirits). That's how I take that section of lyrics.
Ren has been living through hell for 13 years before this release, He is the definition of a tortured soul. L copied this and post it on new reactors messages. He was bitten by a tick when he was 16 or 17 He got really sick from it and went to doctors and they could not figure what was wrong with him. When he had joint pain, muscle spasms, skin rashes, boils, internal organs started shutting down, And Doctors had no idea what was going on. He was loosing weight and had constant fatigue could not even stand to shower.. Doctors started sending him to psychological evaluations, They told him his mind was making him sick ! And started treating him for that with some heavy pharmaceuticals. And all that shit really fucked with his mind, He started believing he was crazy. And this went on for 8 fucking years !! 8 YEARS !! He pursued his own symptoms and lead to a Doctor that gave test for Lyme disease. Where he lived it was very rear to ever contract Lyme disease so he was never tested. When he went in described his symptoms the Doctor knew what he had. Ran the DNA test and found it in his system. However it has been in there for 8 years and has done a lot of damage to his body. He can only eat like 6 things his bones still hurt and the autoimmunity may never be healed. He had to go into surgery to remove tissue to generate stem cells grown outside his body then under go treatment taking the stem cells to remove the Lyme disease chromosome. That was in LA then he went to Calgary and under going treatment on the damage the Lyme left.. He is still there until June
You know it really doesn't matter if you don't get every word, line or bar on a first listen. Far too many people become obsessed with doings so and ruin their own experience of the song. Besides, even rap is about more than just lyrics, even when the lyrics are exceptional, as here! :)
Ren has more layers than an onion, more bars than a prison! Please... More Ren! Loco, Illest of our time, Seven Sins, Wicked Ways, Castles made of sand (Not on RUclips!), etc...
SHOULD you drop it? You should drop every reaction that you do... even if you're not 100% happy with it. Build the channel and hide them later if you want. Once you get more Ren reactions on here, you'll blow up fast. For me, I don't like the tension of having to know the lyrics first time through, but I get it... I just prefer "vibing" to the sound, catching what I can and on later listens, reading lyrics. Difference is you're reacting, so it's kinda your job to figure it out (as best as possible)... knowing his background helps. I don't think he messed with dope, so the poison in his veins is maybe symbolic of the way Lyme disease messed him up, may change my frame of mind (living, thriving, with chronic illness maybe?).
Yes probably best to listen to the whole thing first then go back to figure out what you didnt get the first time while you have the lyrics up. And I agree he says some things that dont make much sense other than for cadence ,rhyme, and flow
Okay bet sometimes shit slip my mind cause I’m just freestyling these video uploads now, it’s so much shit I be wanting to I been tryna get more comfortable with uploading things I like too along with what yall want, I had got away from why I started to do this, but I got you my guy just stay tuned ima put it in my water later so I don’t forget. Hearing his story from you guys is always bro it’s interesting cause you all be giving new insight each time and it be dope.

Thank you for the much appreciated update. I hope for nothing but the best for Ren and friends moving forward.
Ren - the poison in my veins reference is to him having been sick for going on 13 years due to undiagnosed Lyme disease.
The line "Helter Skelter need an alkaseltzer" that's because of the stomach issues he has from the Lyme disease. Also Helter Skelter means disorderly and confusion, which is a reference to him being undiagnosed for years and suffering from psychosis "confusion" because of it. “I got left behind in this one!”
SO DID EVERYONE ELSE! Luckily we watch these over and over and we know exactly what he says(usually 🤣.)
Illest of Our Time and Genesis are two of my favorites

Going through the info he puts in his rhymes to figure out his perspective is such a journey. ✌🏼🙏🏼
Poison in my veins is the medicine that they kept giving him that was not helping his situation and was causing him excruciating pain
This. Lyme disease causes inflammation in his brain. Literally, his brain was inflamed because of the bacteria (poison) in his veins, which kept him in constant pain, and changed the way his mind worked.

Wicked Ways. Ren is in his bag! 10/10 his best rap
Best thing is to watch and listen to the switch ups and then go back and get the whole meaning with the full lyrics. He's very worth it. None of us understood it the first time for real. Much love
Genesis, Power & for a retro vibe What You Want
Insomnia, Life is Funny, Castles Made of Sand, Genesis, Ren Loves Music 3, Crucify Your Culture...on and on
Losing it is one. There are more. It's the rabbit hole. Keep listening. He has a lot.
Genesis bro
One song bro GENESIS

Seven sins is a must. Good reaction
Great reaction. Authentic, genuine and giving props where they’re due.
Thanx for another great reaction 😁 And yes, you should drop that song, if you haven't already 😊
He ain’t messing with no needles bro… he has lyme disease and it messed him up bad.

Seven sins.
Nah mate, the poison from the tick bite in his veins.
Not the drugs you’re thinking but actual life saving…. He is on the IV for Lyme disease treatment
poison in my veins is bad medication which brought psychosis as side effect.
Your a real one.
Illest Of Our Time is one of my favorite Ren rappidy raps. Or Losing It. Doesn't really matter, it's all gold! 🌟🦇🌟🦇🌟🦇🌟
By your description I guess I am a true Ren fan...I can't help but to sing along. Well, I try, because that man really has his vocal gymnastics primed and I reeeeeally don't! Lol!

Loosing it. My favourite song by Ren. He's rapping rapping in this. 👍Best regards from Norway 🇳🇴

Welcome in to the Ren Warren
The alka seltzer is a reference to the thunder in his belly
Wicked ways is my favorite rap rap of ren followed close by genesis
Coming soon, I couldn’t really get into wicked ways tho telling you now
Mine too.
you should do seven sins, it's amazing
Did it go check it out. Thank you for watching the content

Great reaction, thank you Sir 🙏🐊❤️🦉👍
Ren is a rap beast!!! 😊
Love the chaos of your reactions so entertaing and your enthusiasm is contagious 🇬🇧😊
I appreciate you for watching 🙏🏾
Losing it is a good one
He produces all of his own beats too
Song at the end is worth releasing.
Wicked Ways..... is Rens Number 1 Rap Rap track...Enjoy
Agreed
Castles in the sand if you want some pure Ren rapping.
Ah, good call - but is that on YT for people to react to or only on the bandcamp release of the Album? Listened to a few of your songs. Enjoyed them!
Let’s go bro that’s what I like to see. Thank you for rocking with me on this hungry bro fr.
Beltеr like a welterwеight helter-skelter need alka-seltzer (Get 'em)
Alpha, Beta, Delta, I help you into the fall out shelter (Get 'em)
Melt a mind or two with these rhymes,
You might find you never felt (Get 'em)
A feeling like this feeling, be believing I'm a demon, I'm a devil
Like a champion boxer (belter, welterweight, could also be read as his vocals - as in belting out lyrics - pack a punch)
helter skelter is basically crazy (which could be both his lyrics and his mental state), alka-seltzer seems like a callback to the line about having thunder in his belly
Alpha, beta, delta are often used as callsigns in the military, thus he'll lead you to the fallout shelter because he's going to blow up the music scene
his skill is so good that your mind will melt and you will think he has the powers of (or made a deal with, which is a common story in music) a devil (it also ties in to his later lyric about channeling spirits).
That's how I take that section of lyrics.

❤ losing it. Rap over EDM. Back on 74 … he slides in rap in the middle so smooth. Genesis , illest of our times, sick boi
And… man I missed two of my favorites. Seven sins and lost all faith. He has more as I am sure you will see in the comments :).
You may enjoy Knox break down the lyrics…
that guy is cringe AF
3:12 the pills he takes makes him more or less change his style and in that he made a monster.
I think the whole song is just about him changing flows and cadence. He says it at the beginning “genuine Frankenstein, I made a monster”
Ren likes to make us work for our enjoyment.💕👍🦇
You know it really doesn't matter if you don't get every word, line or bar on a first listen. Far too many people become obsessed with doings so and ruin their own experience of the song. Besides, even rap is about more than just lyrics, even when the lyrics are exceptional, as here! :)

I agree with you that this one is tough to understand and that makes it tough for me to be into it.

Losing It.
what did you think about Ren beatboxing at end
I tell people I put on to Ren that this is a rap skills flex. Certainly not much on message or content compared to his other stuff.
I thought that too at first - but there is actually quite a lot about his story in there once you look. Even the “jamming Jango Reinhardt” in a car park by primark is part of his story. It’s got his illness, how his writing is important to him, his history growing up and how he got where he is and the lessons he’s learned and now he’s passing them on…its not deep and emotional, but I think he actually packs in a lot of his story and message in some really dense schemes.
