  • The entertainment district of Memphis, Tennessee, runs along Beale Street downtown close to Mississippi river. The street offer lots of restaurants with primarily soul food ie souther cuisine. Memphis is ”the home of the blues” and that is the dominant style of live music to be enjoyed in clubs along and around Beale Street. At each end of the street you see big gates with the name of the famous street.

    Beale Street is a mad, mad place. Definitely recommend to anyone who wants to see the world. If you haven’t been there, you ain’t seen the world. Loved it. Recommend the Jerry Lee Lewis Honky Tonk Bar & Grill. Best pianist I’ve ever heard. Great catfish dinner, too. Thank you, Memphis, from an old Aussie rocker :) Unforgettable.

      Love Memphis and love Beale! A band playing at Jerry Lee Lewis can be seen at 02.45. There's lots to see in and around Memphis. If you come to Memphis it's quite close to Nashville as well if you'd like to experience that too: ruclips.net/video/XwP-WpWImfc/видео.html

    1st time on Beale was in 87. Been there 5 times (I’m a blues guy) last time in 2018. 87 was the best. Not as much tourist. Fun place. Gave birth to rock & roll. Good food/music/people but lots of unsavory panhandling. Especially on Beale. Have fun but you need to be vigilant.

      My first time was back in '98. Sure there where more tourists and more "businesses adapted for tourists" when we visited this time, but still think you can find some great music and god music along Beale. Would actually really like to visit Nashville and Memphis again when Covid is over.

    It looks really quiet? Compared to Newcastle upon Tyne at night/weekend. I think I want to go. I've never paid to enter a street before. I wanna be walking in Memphis, walking with my feet 10 feet off of Beale.

    Great video thanks for sharing! I've been back and forth from Orlando to Nashville for gigs the last four years. Playing in Nashville is cool...they have Bourban St. Blues but overall it's modern country on Broadway. It would be great to play some blues in Memphis!!

      For Blues I would guess Chicago is the place?
      I also found there was quite a lot of variation of style of music in Austin, so perhaps that's an option too? But Nashville is really cool anyway right? And of course Memphis.

      @@Limewave right on! Love Nashville, love TN in general!

      @@Limewave don't know about living in Chicago though lol Nashville is a majority of aspiring modern country pop stars, Memphis/ Beale St. seems to be strictly blues which is awesome. The last decade Nashville has become flooded with people and tons of people relocating from California to Nashville and now the cost of living has gone through the stratosphere!

    • @Limewave
      @Limewave  3 года назад

      @@SteveKaynan I've not been to Chicago for more than 20 years now, but I get what you're saying. Yeah, I've understood quite a few musicians/artists have relocated from California partly because of tax issues and Nashville being a bit cheaper in general so I'm not surprised if the cost of living have been affected too. I guess there's pros and cons to every place right?

      @@Limewave yes! I would love to play Chicago also! Best thing is to move to the suburbs of Nashville. The problem is that the highways and roads were not made and designed for the amount of influx and people who have been moving to Nashville the last few years. Rent has gone up like crazy!

    Too bad these places lose their charm beale st.' Duval st., bourbon st. I guess new ones will appear though...peace

      Yeah, I guess it's a challenge for any street/area like this to keep the old time charm and for the places to stay competitive throughout time and changes that comes along. At least I believe/hope more and more people gets aware of the value of their old charm and ambiance these street have created and at least try to protect and support them.
