Do you still live there? I'm looking for the music. Truly local spots are more my kind of spot. If you know of any, I would appreciate some names. I'm staying about 10 minutes' drive east to downtown. Thanks
In the 70's I worked on 2nd Ave North in a warehouse. 2nd Avenue was all warehouses back then. Lower Broadway, the area you just walked through consisted of pawn shops and XXX bookstores. The closest place to get a hot sandwich at lunch was Tootsies grill. I rode the bus in from Hermitage to work because the parking lots charged $2.00 a day. Expensive at the time. I have watched it all gradually change over the years. Some good stuff no doubt but the charm that we used to have in Nashville is gone. Enjoyed watching this.
I live in Memphis and from this video, Nashville looks awesome and sounds amazing. I love Memphis and all it's Rock N Roll history but Nashville truly is the beat of Tennessee, the heart of the south and hands down, the musical mecca of America.

I can 100% relate. I was born and raised in Nashville, and still live here. I’m 40 years old and I can tell you 20 years ago downtown Nashville was a fun place to go to. It’s not anymore.

Truly what a night life but looks like there's no fighting just so many people enjoying the night in the bars . True to what the definition of Nashville. The US musical City . I lived in Nashville from 1998 to 2003. It was smaller crowds but very much a tourist haven. The line dancing at the Wild Horse Saloon was the place to be. Lotta local talent. Nashville still had a small town vibe. Very little crime or homelessness. Only Second avenue was closed off to vehicle traffic on Saturday night back then. Now its much more commercial, huge crowds, Second and part of Broad are closed off to accommodate the crowds. A lotta things have changed in 20 years. Some good, some not so great. 🤠
I was born and raised here. In the 70's and 80's downtown wasn't anywhere you'd want to be. The old Ryman Auditorium closed and the Grand Ol Opry was built in 1974 at Opryland and the old honky tonks like Tootsies Orchid Lounge and Ernest Tubb Record Shop fell on hard times. It was still an industrial area and Acme Feed and Seed was actually an agriculture supply store. There were a few cool spots down there like Ace of Clubs on 2nd Ave though. Most of the music was scattered around town like Exit Inn and 12th & Porter. The Wildhorse Saloon really kindof made Lower Broad area a destination again in the 90's. Then Bridgestone Arena was built in 1996 followed shortly by Adelphia Coliseum and the Titans in 1999 and downtown has been getting crazier ever since. Nashville has changed so much in the last 20 years it is unrecognizable from what it was. Downtown is almost purely for tourists and sports fans, now. By the way, locals here don't wear shorts with cowboy boots and NASHVILLE WAS NEVER KNOWN FOR DAMN HOT CHICKEN!!!!
💯 same here. I live about 15 min. from downtown. I used to love going down there on weekends, but I haven't gone at night in years cause it's so trash now. Hell, the entire Mid TN area has been ruined, just in different ways.
I wish I could have seen it before people ruined it the first time I went there around 4-5 years ago it was fun but every time I go back it seems more crowded so sad tourism is ruining it.

I'm in Nashville right now. I haven't made it downtown yet. I been hanging at the Famous 5 Spot. I am in heaven. I've seen 9 bands in 4 days. Even the BBQ joint I went to Drifters had live music. After seeing this I might just stay on the East side. Hahaha I got put on the list at the Blue Bird for Sunday. This looks like Vegas on steroids. Lamo
@JohnnyAzariaTV this week some time for sure. I got into the blue bird yesterday. I met a cat at the 5 spot and he put me on the list. Yup the list. I have to admit I felt special. I could see moving here.
I played hundreds of gigs down there back in the 2010 -14 time frame and it’s all the same songs, except that Tyler Childers that was ending as you walked up. It was interesting , almost like a time portal from the times I walked around that lower broadway area. Thanks for doing the work 🤘🤘
Nashville is great city as a whole, great people. Broadway is really on for drinking tourists, concerts and hockey games. If its not your thing, then its not for you…
Exellent video in that you get a good idea what the bands & clubs are like. I thought the family putting up the "looser" hand sign was funny. They may have been offended by someone shooting a video of them, and didn't realize they would be on RUclips for eternity for doing so, lol.
@@JohnnyAzariaTV Its a long video, it would take quite a while to find it. Skip through until you get to the part where the camera goes down a vacant path. Camera guy is on the right side of the road, and the street has construction equipment making the path narrow. You first see a young girl, pointing her phone, recording the person recording the family. As the camera passes the family you first see the young girl holding up the "L" to her forehead, and then the mom and dad hold the "L" up to their forehead as well.
I use to go downtown a lot back in the late 80’s it wasn’t near as crowded and lots of nice restaurants now to me it’s just tourist stuff and way to crowed. This doesn’t even look like a Saturday night crowd. Many Saturday nights you can hardly move and forget trying to drive through unless you got a hour to go a couple blocks. So many pedestrians and many keep crossing the streets after the light changes and most as you would imagine are drunk. No doubt it’s fun for those who enjoy that kind of stuff but I never go there these days.
I was in Nashville last May 2023. We did some clubbing. Our hotel was a former high fidelity recording studio for Country Musicians now rented out. However many of the bands were semi-pros from the amateur circle coming to Nashville to play and get noticed. So the music acts are much more social with the clubbers, and I got to know a few. The Grand ole Opry is worth a visit and the Country Hall of fame, or maybe it was the museum, also worth it. Parking was expensive, very hot in May and June. It's a university town, lots of students and young people. Many active and former music studios, many music industry ppl in town-- always. I would recommend it as a very unique and worthwhile US city to visit.
Went to Nashville last December. Saw 2awesome Christmas concerts (Matthew West/Tommee Profitt), stopped in a few restaurants z(although we had a friend who lives there show us all the best places). The Bluebird was awesome. Grand ol’ Opry…..downtown…..great musicians everywhere. Loved it.

You'd love Nashville. I met plenty of British tourists when I worked downtown, and we'd love to have a Liverpudlian visit. I'm a huge fan of Northern comics, especially from the 1970's: Bernard Manning, Ken Goodwin, and,of course, Charlie Williams, my all time favorite.
I used to park my truck at the downtown TA truck stop and catch a cab to Tootsies Orchard Lounge, a truly legendary bar. It was always during the week, I never saw crowds like this.i think that probably would have ruined the experience for me
Tootsies is the laughing stock of the locals. The bartenders are rude and a money pit for tourists. The music ( if you want to call it that) is not traditional. I’ve been to Nashville about 100 times in the last fifteen years. I darken the doors of Tooties 3 times and tried around and walked out. Layla’s and Robert’s are about the only country places still down there.
This looks like the best place in the U.S.A. to be if you like a lot of people and bands playing in a bar on every corner. It looks like most bars have no cover charge.
Were they celebrating any festival these days? Or are weekends like that in Nashville? I would like to go soon and I hope to be able to coincide with some musical festival.
I'm so glad you showed the New Nashville. My Dad always took us to Nashville in the 60's and 70's. And God, what memories I have. That was when country music was true country. Standing in line, waiting to get into the Grand Ole Ryman auditorium for a Friday and Saturday show that would play until sometimes 1-2 am. Whoever showed up to play that night got their turn on stage. Good clean entertainment. My Dad always got Row 5 center seats 1thru5. Old hard ass church benches. I thought I would love to go back just to sit one more time and listen to a show at the Ryman before I pass. But after seeing how it's turned into a Sodom and Gomorrah.😢 Hell, I could go to New Orleans on Burbon Street during Madi Gras and see the same thing. Guess that's the reason I don't watch the CMA awards anymore or listen to this NEW COUNTY B.S. Can you imagine Roy Acuff or Hank Williams Sr. presenting Jelly Belly or Jelly Roll an award!! So I'll just keep my good memories of the old Nashville.
Such history, a better time. You recollect a piece a history that was truly a better time, the 'real' life and spirit of what used to be country🤔!! Thank You!! The country music scene/industry, now, is a commercialized pimp with a bunch of music whores🤑(i.e. Taylor Swift)🤨. Sad, but True😢.

I'm in Nashville right now. I haven't made it downtown yet. I been hanging at the Famous 5 Spot. I am in heaven. I've seen 9 bands in 4 days. Even the BBQ joint I went to Drifters had live music. After seeing this I might just stay on the East side. Hahaha
I got put on the list at the Blue Bird for Sunday. This looks like Vegas on steroids. Lamo
@@tonyvalle794 go to downtown you will love it
@JohnnyAzariaTV this week some time for sure. I got into the blue bird yesterday. I met a cat at the 5 spot and he put me on the list. Yup the list. I have to admit I felt special. I could see moving here.
@@tonyvalle794 its amazing
Wonderful video. I’m still trying to visit there after Oshkosh. Surprised not hear many female solo artists.
How bout Miwaukee, a great city!!
How bout Milwaukee, a great city!!!
i miss the old Nashville.
I played hundreds of gigs down there back in the 2010 -14 time frame and it’s all the same songs, except that Tyler Childers that was ending as you walked up. It was interesting , almost like a time portal from the times I walked around that lower broadway area. Thanks for doing the work 🤘🤘
I am heading there soon, Love the video! thanks
Don't waste your time or money, place is a smelly shit hole
What did you love about it? 12 years ago, yes. But now, a dump!
Nashville is great city as a whole, great people. Broadway is really on for drinking tourists, concerts and hockey games. If its not your thing, then its not for you…
Love all the live music. But why are there so many TV's in the bars?
I've been to a lot of cities. The people in Nashville are some of the nicest.
@@4thlord51 very good people 😀
100% i just got back from there. Super friendly
@@dunkmasterflexx Nashville is awesome 😀
You’re insane
The people are definitely very cool. No doubt.
Yep,I gotta go to Nashville!
Damn...left Nashvegas in 2009 and downtown wasn't that busy!
Nashville is ruined.
Seems a lot of ‘get off my lawn’ folks are commenting. And I’m old😎
There’s also museums, record stores, and other places to see. Stay away from the zoo.
Some guy said that around 150 bands work a day on Broadway. They do shifts from 10am to closing. That's a lot of musicians in one place.
I'm grateful I lived in and experienced Nashville in the 90's. Cant stand the city now.
It reminds me of Bourbon St. Only without the charm.
Good music but I can't and cannot do big cities anymore. I'll stay in the woods of TN. Great video though.
@@19K7635 thank you for watching 😀
Exellent video in that you get a good idea what the bands & clubs are like. I thought the family putting up the "looser" hand sign was funny. They may have been offended by someone shooting a video of them, and didn't realize they would be on RUclips for eternity for doing so, lol.
thank you I’m glad you enjoyed , where in the video is that I would like to watch it
@@JohnnyAzariaTV Its a long video, it would take quite a while to find it.

Love that town. My Dad and I built it back in the 70's.
Very motivated to sell that stadium if anyone wants to buy it.
Yep I don't like places that are too packed
The best youtube video on Nashville
thank you so much 😀
I was in Nashville last May 2023.
Loved it.

It's worth going once, for the spectacle.
It's sad to not see enough country music which Nashville known for. It's obvious by Nudies bar band that it's all about the beer and whiskey sales.
I just came here for the Hawk Thua girl. Greetings from southern Europe.
How is that 5-second meme drawing attention to a whole city??
"Head" is a powerful thing 😂😂
I liked the band at Nudies. The streets are too crowded for my liking, but it's been that way for years.
Pretty fun place, apparently. A great diversity of people. These bars are really cool too, live bands, and good musicians.
Nashville done gone and turned into Atlanta. I cut around all that mess and head straight to Laylas!
It looks like Vegas. I was just there
Now I remember why I NEVER go downtown Nashville anymore.
Do you know of any local music spots. I'm staying 2 blocks from 5 Points.

good luck , you will love it , Nashville is amazing
You would benefit from raising your standards. I live 20 miles from the shithole which is downtown TRASHVILLE.
Even after seeing this?
It looks like most bars have no cover charge.
it is your very right , it was very busy because of nascar the next day but to be going in bar to bar with live music is great
I thought Ernest Tubbs' Record Shop was supposed to be closing down last year.
Didn’t hear much real country music while watching this ! Sad😉😎
I was thinking the same thing, the wife and I were planning to go next summer but not now
What is Nashville Lower Broadway like on a Wednesday night in January right after new years.
it’s great 😀
Much more manageable.
that town looks tired and the people looked worked over, give us some Hank damn it
Last legit music bar in Nashville is the the Bluebird Cafe and it's far outside downtown.
When walking on the sidewalks, watch out for falling chairs!
Were they celebrating any festival these days? Or are weekends like that in Nashville? I would like to go soon and I hope to be able to coincide with some musical festival.
CMA Fest is coming up on June, Alot of stars are in town then!!
A terry Dawson 8371 l read your opinion our city is not what it once was time has gone into the future we only can remember the way it once was. Saturdays I would be at the races at the fairground Speedway I remember when you could go to the mall shopping not no more I feel people quit living life 15 years ago malls closing down . Ect everyone carrying guns in stead of bibles I remember when I worked for Allegheny airlines how friendly it once was. Now people are fighting with crew members Stewart's and so on so much for the present. Good luck with life Danny Malliard
@@danmalliard280 As long as there are people who remember these 'once great' cities the way they should be, then maybe an appreciation can be found from the 'responsible' youth, and cities like Nashville can become more family oriented, however unlikely, We must hope!!😐🙏
@@terrydawson8371 downtown from my youth was to stay way from downtown. We hung out at fountain square Hearthrob and Priest Lake, or maybe one of the Malls.
