I just saw this story on the Bavarian tv channel here on RUclips and came here. Can't wait for updates! They are very happy that you invited them! Greetings from Germany! I'm glad they brought you back to the hotel safely!
What a surreal story, you meat Jimmy Fall on a german Autobahn Raststätte, give him a ride back to his hotel in 90s old Volkswagen with casette player and have a private Carpool Caraoke with old music. ❤❤❤❤ This story made my day.
I live in that village where Jimmy found help at the Autowerkstatt. There is no Autobahn in walking distance, not even close. It must have been the "Landstrasse" outside the village where Germans unlike Americans drive fast. Funny story anyway.
That's what I always say to everyone. 90% of people, or even more, are very nice and helpful people. We donate, volunteer, etc. Just because the bad is shown and told so often in the press, not everyone is like that. The bad ones are just isolated cases in the mass of people. Jimmy, thank you for telling us this story. All the best and come back soon.
I was lost in New York last year. My airbnb didn't worked out like planed. So a young man from Bangladesh in a Handy shop helped me to find a new place to sleep. I was sitting in his Handy shop for hours. He saved me on that day❤
what‘s meant is a cell-phone shop 😂 In German language a mobile phone is called„Handy“ and it’s just assumed it is an English word used for the same thing. A classic „false-friend“ - no need to use the „F-word“ though, even in an acronym😉
German/Bavarian here: Next time... no need to fear snakes, we don´t have many and the very most of them are not dangerous at all. Hitchhiking: I won´t recommend it to solo girls ... but indeed even they don´t have much to fear. According numbers: The biggest risk is to get into a car accident. I personally like to give hitchhikers a lift. Though it´s not very common currently. The best you can do: Just ask for what you need. Many here will be happy to help others. I saw my last hitchhiker sure 15 years ago, on a once popular place in upperaustria on the way to vienna. I took him with me, had a bad tire on the way and he helped me change the thing.. very lucky, very happy. we road the last 80 km with a can beer, 80 kmh, good mood and a spare tire. Since then, i never saw a hitchhiker again.
German/Bavarian here: BR News sended this story this morning. You are SUCH a wonderful man, it was so sweet and wholesome to see the excitement of the family to fly to New York 😂❤
"Bitten by a snake " cracked me up! We don´t have dangerous snakes in Germany! I never came across any snake at all and I live in the countryside!! Jumping over two fences was the second time I laughed so much! Thank you, Jimmy, for loving Bavaria!!

Thank you for sharing Jimmy, I believe they were nice because you are a very nice person. The image you present when you're interviewing people in your show is so honest, respectful and funny that there’s no other way people will react. If you're good to people, people will be good to you. Greetings from Morelia México
Hi Jimmy 👋 Great story. It’s good to know there are still good people in the world willing to help you out in a bind, being a stranger. I think I would feel more anxiety being lost somewhere here in America than many parts of Europe.
Could be right. I don't speak for all of Europe, but in Germany you will always find someone who is happy to help you out. Especially in smaller towns and villages. Edit: And there is pretty much nothing to fear in germany, except maybe some older folks who can't speak english 😂
My brother was in NZ in 1990 he is 6ft 2" & asked a man for directions, the man then asked my brother if he was hungry, yes!, the man said my wife will fix you some lunch then you can carry on to Epsom. Wow. A total stranger gave my brother correct directions & lunch. Very kind people.
We were in the US in 2006 and had rented a boat to tour Lake Powell. After a few hours the rental boat broke down. An American family nearby helped us, towed us back to their house boat, invited us for lunch and then they invited us to go water-skiing with them, which was such a nice experience. We were very, very grateful to them. Cheers from Germany!
That is the most American tourist story ever 🙂Ttrust me: in Germany, Austria and most other European countries there will always be some nice people that will help you. Next time charge the phone and look at a map :-). Thank God it did not happen in a desert in Nevada. That could have ended badly. When I was a teenager (14) me and two friends made a long bike trip. On the first day all worked as planned. But on the second day we wanted to sleep in a youth hostel. But it was overbooked and the host sent us away. We just kept cycling, even though we already did 50km, an arrived in Konstanz at the Bodensee. But there the youth hostel was also full. We still did not know where to sleep. We made a pause at the shore of the lake and then asked some people where to get some food (Pizza). They asked us back what we are up to and if we had a place for the night. We said no: we do not know where to sleep tonight! Then they said: then you will sleep at our farm! They gave us food and the mother even washed our cloth. Those days mobile phones did not even exist. Hospitality is a sacred.
I live in Bavaria and that's exactly why I live here. The people here are really nice and helpful. If you ask for help, you'll definitely get it and the people from me too. I love it here.
ONE NIGHT IN BANGKOK MAKES A HARD MAN CRUMBLE! Totally catchy tune. Glad you enjoyed Bavaria as much as I did. I shall never forget the Hofbrauhaus in Munich.
I had the Chess album. It's virtually impossible not to sing along to One Night in Bangkok. Of course, all Queen songs are meant to be enjoyed vocally, I feel.
Meeting you anywhere would definitely be on my bucket list! Love this good news story you have shared. Yes there are many throughout mankind who are good and kind! 🎉😊❤
Hi Jimmy I'm a big Fan of your Show and I'm xo happy thst my country people help you. This area is really beautiful and what really makes me proud that you speak so good about the Germans, because not all Americans do know that Bavaria is in Germany or they even dont know where Germany is and you gave them a little geographic lesson so cool. The best is that you've got help. But the very best was you promised them to invite Leon and his parents to your show and you did and they were there. Yeah super cool from you. Take care Merry xmas and when I will come to NY one day I'll visit your Show. Super cool Jimmy forever. 😊❤
Too friggin' funny! I agree, Bavaria (actually, Germany in general) is beautiful. I came to Bavaria 46 years ago and never left! My wife and I retired to the Bavarian part of Allgäu several years ago. By the way, as far as hitchhiking is concerned, although I would not generally recommend it anywhere, I would hazard to guess that it's a much safer endeavour in Germany than it is, let's say, in the U.S.😳 Hope that you continue to enjoy your German holiday!
Thank you these hero people for returning our Jimmy safely so he did have to face wolf-guard-dogs behind a private fence beyond a field. The car, the mom and her son, the songs all so happy and cool! Maybe instead of “One Night in Bangcock”, you should sing the song “One day in Bulvaria”!😀
Amazing what good things can happen when your vacation goes off plan. My few experiences have changed my life for the better. Restores your faith in people.
It happened to me but I was 15. I'm French and went to a summer school in Leipzig, Germany. I lived in a host family outside of town in a small village and had to take the train everyday to go to school in the city. In the first day, the father of the host family showed me the way and went to pick me up at the central station and we took the train together. I thought the way was easy and assured him I could do it by myself the next day. Well the short version is: I couldn't. I was so panicked. This was before we all had mobile phones. Eventually a nice lady saw my distress and helped me. But this is a kind of stress I'll never forget.
2:29 are you kidding me 😂😂 how are they supposed to slow down on the highway, that's literally impossible and highly illegal too. Don't put that on those people 😅 that track besides the highway is for car emergencies only and not to stop for hitchhikers.
Someone pointed out that it was likely not a highway, but a Landstrasse that he came across. I was confused, too, how he would try to hitchhike on the Autobahn.
LOVE to follow your shows and I laughed about you getting lost in Bavaria alps not being used to walk more than 1.5h 😄. We are hiper, Baker and loooove to Drive in cars too! See Bavarian Forest next time! Close to czechian border, you might get out in Prague 😅.
