It's hard to forgive the Mets for not at least DOING SOMETHING in his last year. But glad his last start in a NYM uniform was a win, and glad that despite it all, he has a ring now
thank you for making this. jacob degrom is my favorite player of all time. this really hit me in the gut. i was at that game against tanaka in 2014 and watching him dominate the dodgers in the NLDS is one of the greatest experiences of my life. before the game, my friend chris sent me a message that said "now im going back to cali with my jacob on, see how time fly" - a reference to a 50 cent/game song. it always stuck with me because it gave me confidence that he would win the game. stupid silly story but its true. he was masterful and gritty that night. by the time we hit the world series, he was pretty wiped in that game 2 and i dont blame him for that loss. i went to a million degrom starts throughout his career and was mostly furious for all of them. he would pitch a gem and the horrific mets would lose. i wanted him traded during the entire peak stretch run he had from 2018 basically until 2022 just because i wanted to see him play for a better team. i went to his final mets start, game 2 of the 2023 wildcard. it was a typical jake gritty game: he found a way to win despite not having his best stuff. it was sad and hard watching him fade at the same time he was seemingly unhittable from 2020-2022. when he lost to the A's and braves in 2022, i knew the season - and his time here - was done. with time comes perspective, and i'm not sure i have it all just yet. his entire run here hits me harder by the day now that hes gone and will continue to. thanks for the memories jake. i wish you had a chance to win here.
i watch this everday no lie like 4x a day , took me years to get over mike took me years to stop thinking david was playing third. this one hurts. let’s go mets !
Future generations will never understand how much better he was than every other human who ever picked up a baseball and decided to throw it as hard as they possibly could. Not the best career ever, but the best pitcher ever IMO
We’ll always miss Jake. No matter how much I’ll miss him, I’ll tell my kids about how great of a pitcher he really was.

i just realized the game that made him turn into the elite pitcher was against the rangers
Whatever Terry said to him that night changed history.
Period.

No matter how bad the team was for 3-4 years, you could always count on a show every 5 games.
Future generations will never understand how much better he was than every other human who ever picked up a baseball and decided to throw it as hard as they possibly could.
