Fort Lauderdale, FL located 28 miles north of Miami in Broward County has becoming the yachting capital of the world. Surrounded by New River, Intracoastal Water, and the Atlantic Ocean makes Fort Lauderdale attractive for boating. Greater Fort Lauderdale which covers 23 miles of coastline has over 4,000 restaurants, 63 golf couses, 132 nightclubs, and 100 marinas with 45,000 resident yachts. In this video we shot mostly the coastline of Fort Lauderdale, from Lauderdale-by-the-Sea to the Harbor Beach area.
Most of Fort Lauderdale is in a restricted area with the airport being so close to downtown and the approach is right over the beach. We were able to get FAA Approval with some of the areas we were limited to a 200 feet above ground level. The Marriott Harbor Beach is about as far south as we could go to get approval. South of that and you are right in final approach area.
In this video we feature the Fort Lauderdale Water Taxi (3:16)(4:38) which runs from Bokampers Sports Bar & Grill just north of Oakland Park Blvd to Hollywood, FL at the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort. Grew up in Fort Lauderdale and what amazes me is the amount of water this place is surrounded by. When flying into Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International you get to see the amount of water surrounding EVERYTHING. From the Ocean, canals, intracoastal, lakes, ponds, rivers Etc.
You realize just how fragile the ground is under your feet and hard to believe only 6' of sand/land separates you from the vast ocean and other waterways. Army Corp of engineers did a fantastic job designing South Florida in the early 1900's.

After extensive travel throughout the Fort Lauderdale area, I found paradise in Deerfield Beach in the Broward Palm Beach border. Much safer, cleaner and far less crowded. Best kept secret in Florida.

The W hotel that was shown in the video is awesome, I stayed ther a few years ago. It has fancy rooms and the roof top pool are is great.

@@floridian4072 southern California and South Florida are not the same! California is more of a dry desert Climate. Little to no humidity, and they have mountains. California is just insanely taxed though, cost of living is worse than South Florida

Most of it I get from Envato Market's Audio Jungle. They are get, prices vary but tend to be around $20/song, much cheaper than many of the other music sources. They have a membership deal that is $16/month which I do, but that doesn't cover all the music so still have purchase additional songs from their site.

In summer malls are great, stay call, parks are probably better in fall, spring, & winter.

I love Ft. Lauderdale more than Miami, it is soooo surreal to me and not some much as a party atmosphere....but just a lively atmosphere....I know it is expensive, but it would be worth it to stay here because of the great locations, and others here are making it sssoooooo…..

Traffic isnt that bad here as you thing it is. Just don't go during rush hour. Thats when it gets bad. Its far cheaper then Miami for sure, but still expensive.But hey, u get the luxury of Miami for cheap.

That building is not Pier 66 Hotel, that is a private building. Pier 66 is on 17th Street causeway. Amazing video otherwise of my town.
