Apparently, there's a brief window of opportunity in Omaha for people to get a photo of 4014 and its sibling 4023 in the same image. Back in 2019, a railfan posted on Facebook how the rail line to either the yard or the display area near the stadium actually passes directly beneath the hill on which 4023 sits for display. Apart from an aerial shot showing the UP mainline and 4006 on display in St. Louis, it's one of the only chances you'll get to photograph two Big Boys in one image (they even posted an example proving this, with the image being taken from 4023's overlook).
@@THOMAS81Z If Union Pacific had decided to restore a Big Boy in the 70s or 80s, then yes 4023 probably would have been quickly chosen. Alas, the leadership at the time wasn't really interested (and she was shipped off to a couple of parks). Let us be grateful that the leadership in recent years was wise enough to get 4014 up and running again.
Nothing like the sound of that whistle, haunting history of the ages never to be replaced.
Great shots. That scene at 5:30 was awesome.
4014 rides 😁😁😁😁😆🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

it should be 4023 touring the country instead it was dealt a different fate

@@thunderbird1921 the irony is the fact that it hung around so long & that it was shipped off before the " restore big boy" budget plan came to be .
What did they do to make it so shiny, it looks fantastic.
Super badass!!! Great video!!
Thanks!!
Is this a manifested load or just a pulling load?
If 4023 were to get restored by someone, I’d want them to make it where 4023 can have a swinging bell to make it more unique
4012: gooch, 4017: I guess Allan valve gear
Also maybe experiment with different whistles on it too
Is it true, that wherever Big Boy goes, there are track crews that are sure to follow?😊
Maybe even modify 4004 to have gresley valve gear and 2 sets of 3 cylinders
4018: Stephenson valve gear
Or even modify its valve gear from walschaerts to baker
