I’m so glad you liked it! I have been pushing it on people since I binged the trilogy last summer! 😂 I agree with everything you said. I just thought it was so fun! I thought he did a particularly good job of tying up some very complicated threads successfully in a 3 book series in a way that was very satisfying. I definitely recommend to anyone who is reading and enjoying book 1 to go ahead and get your hands on the rest of the trilogy because even with the summaries in the 2nd and 3rd books you are not going to want to let too much time pass between books - there is a lot to keep track of. Great review!
Thank you! Yeah I was very happy with how it was all wrapped up in book 3. Some parts I predicted and really enjoyed seeing all the plot points falling into place and others I was surprised by.
It is one of those series that has been on my tbr list for years! Hopefully I'll start it before the end of the year. This review has made me feel more confident that it'll be something I would enjoy :) Will
The plot is incredible and if you stuck around for the buzz-word, the way all threads pull together 👌I enjoyed book 1, but 2 and 3 were amazing. Hope you enjoy when you get there.
I think I'd had this on my list for years as well before finally picking it up. I found the series really satisfying and enjoyable to read. Hope it's a hit for you too
Excellent points. I really enjoyed the series, as a Wheel of time junkie this was really comfort food for me. I am looking forward to what Islington writes next.
I keep looking too. He does say at the end in his author note, that 2 characters did not have their story fully told, but this series was not the place fir it as it was a tangent, so he will write their story. Hoping to see that abd thinn it was a fantastic decision on his part as the book although complex was focused on moving the story forward.
I feel like I saw something on goodreads for him www.goodreads.com/book/show/58416952-the-will-of-the-many?ac=1&from_search=true&qid=rh7pWKOxFl&rank=4 But also I'd be hesitant to read it straight away as I enjoyed having all these books to hand
This was actually the first fantasy series I picked up when I was getting into the genre last year and I absolutely loved it! Definitely agree that you should read these as close to back-to-back as possible though!
Great video, Abby! I already knew the semi-spoilery buzzword because that's the reason it's often recommended to me. Always exciting when you want to get back to all the character perspectives in a multi-POV setup, especially for what sounds like a very plot-driven story. Wonderful hearing your thoughts!
Thank you Johanna! Yes that can be both a pro and a con of multi-POV. You can either be invested with all the characters or you'll hate reading about some and love others.
I usually tend to hop skip and jump from series to series. I am glad you categorically encouraged prospective readers to burn through the trilogy. Tysm
I think this is the one review that has actually gotten me interested in maybe eventually giving it a try. Although I have enjoyed Sanderson but not Gywnne so who knows what will happen 😅
For me the series strength is the plot, it answers questions but leaves you with kire questions and hooks you further, book 1 I had a couple of quibbles with but 2 and 3 I 5* loved them. The way all the threads are woven back into the story, is masterful.
The summaries in books 2 and 3 were great and helped me better understand what all was going on! That being said, I had such mixed feeling about this trilogy that my own spoiler-free review ended up being over 50 minutes long. But I'm glad you enjoyed it so much, Abby!
The summaries were so useful! I had plenty of other thoughts but tried to structure this more of a should you read rather than a direct review. Because I can completely see why you'd have mixed thoughts
Yes it could be an interesting Segway from Dandelion Dynasty to this. I guess I did it the other way round and read this one and then started Dandelion
Thanks Abby. 🙂 I’ve got the 1st book on my October TBR (Austober on my channel, so only Aussie authors) and I wasn’t really sure how excited I could be. Now I’m excited. 😀👌🏻
Abby I am going to try and read this book series thank you for suggesting it please stay safe and enjoy your reading love you and your amazing channel xx
I love this series but the reason I love it is spoilery so it’s hard to convince others to read it. It handles the spoilery thing so well and the pay off is one of the best I’ve read. It so good and well paced, plus the characters are so good
I really enjoyed my time in islington’s world! I did find (initially) it was difficult to keep track of all the names of each character. But by the end I felt like I knew them better than they knew each other!
I’ve been a bit on the fence about this series because I saw other reviewers say it was more plot-driven than character-driven. But what you said about loving the character arcs gives me hope I might like it after all.
I would say each of the books are more plot driven but when you look back you can really see how the characters have grown and the development of their arcs
Loved this, you did very well with a high complex plot, no spoilers etc. And making it as clear as possible who this would appeal to. I loved the early plot change moment abd the buzz word you mentioned. Sounds like you have already convinced some people 😉👏
This is on my TBR hopefully I can get to it soon, but I'm trying to read my shelves until my TBR is in the low teens (spoiler alert, it's not going so well since library has all the new books I don't LOL)
I tired reading the first book twice and gave up quickly because it seemed juvenile (am I wrong?). Maybe I'll try one more time and see what I think when I get to "the scene".
It does pretty quickly move away from the school setting. But if it's not working for you then there's no point forcing it. Might as well read books you're excited to read and really enjoying
I haven't actually read the kingkiller chronicles...I have owned the name of the wind for years but not started it as don't want to end up in the same situation as I am with ASOIAF
So happy to hear that you ended up enjoying this entire series so much!! I personally left a little bit too much time between the instalments and that kinda hurt my reading experience. I am quite eager to reread it in the future though, because I really liked the story and these characters. Loved hearing your thoughts!! :)
Yeah I can imagine leaving too long between the books can hamper enjoyment. When I started the first book Petrik was like Abby make sure you read these back to back.

Oooohh what a place to start with fantasy.
Yeah definitely a series to read in quick succession. I couldn't imagine waiting a year between releases

I'm the same where I typically will read a book a month or so but with this one there are so many details to keep track of

Hi 👋 I’ve read the first two books in this series.. just need to read the last book! Happy reading to you!! 🎥📝
Don't leave it too long...or you'll have to re-read😉
Exactly what Charlotte said. Dive in to book 3 before you lose track of past events
cool series. Perhaps I will read it when I'm through Dandelion Dynasty. I could make my return to European fantasy.
Yes it could be an interesting Segway from Dandelion Dynasty to this. I guess I did it the other way round and read this one and then started Dandelion
Thank you!!
This sounds interesting as hell. I’m actually about to go to the bookstore in a few, might look for this one. Thanks!!
Yessss do it!!!!
I hope you love it if you read it! 💜
I've seen these around so much and now I'm even more tempted to pick them up!
I hope you love them
YESSSSSSS Abby the video of my dreams!!!!! (Excellent thumbnail BTW!)

I picked this one up at a used bookstore a long time ago but for some reason never started it. I'm going to give it a try!
I hope you love it. I have books like that which I've picked up at a used bookstore and then they've sat for ages on my TBR
Yes this book series is definitely worth a read 💯😊📚📖

Totally agree with you - I just keep pushing "excellent plotting" at people , in the hope that it's enough!
Oh yeah there are so many spoilery parts which just can't be mentioned but make the story so good!
I really enjoyed my time in islington’s world! I did find (initially) it was difficult to keep track of all the names of each character. But by the end I felt like I knew them better than they knew each other!
