This couldn't have come at a better time! I was literally thinking about if/when I want to read this series yesterday which is also when I first came across your channel. This was very helpful and I think Foundryside has just moved up my TBR now :)
The premise of these sounds interesting so I think I will give them a go one day! But not for a while as I already have a lot of completed series to read on my shelves…
I've read the first two books, but I honestly think I need to do a reread before book 3, because the story has entirely left my brain, lol. Not sure if I am really in the mood for this type of action-packed fantasy atm though. And also a bit of a bummer to hear that you weren't super satisfied with the ending. Like, I already thought book 1 and 2 were just fine and fun, but nothing special, so I am not too overly excited about book 3 now, haha We'll see when I get around to finishing this one up. It is quite a quick read as and when you do get to it because it is so fast paced and action packed. But I can see this one moving further and further down your TBR pile especially if you only found the first 2 books fine.
I still have to read the 3rd book. I did not like the second one as much, but I do want to finish this series. Based on your description of time jumps and stuff, I'm reminded of how Jade Legacy had so many more time jumps than the first two. Hopefully in enjoy the time jumps and added scifi stuff.
I agree with everything you said so much!! locklands was a huge disappointment for me after the last two books, the tone was completely different and felt....preachy, almost? idk but it didn't stick the landing for me either

I just finished Shorefall and I love it. Robert Jackson Bennett is becoming my favorite author.

Unlike Jade Legacy which just kept time jumping, Locklands has the time jump at the beginning and then it stays there. If that makes you feel better

I'm still sad about it. I had so much hope for it really sticking the landing and then it just didn't.

I don’t think it was your gap between reading, it was the book 😭 I read them back to back and had exactly the same problems ☹️

I read the first book unfortunately I didn't enjoy it the book felt like a slog so I decided not to continue with the rest of the series
Oh that's a shame! It is what it is though, not all books are going to work for every reader
