I think City of Dusk has a really slow start with a bombastic ending, but I LOVED The Midnight Kingdom. One of my fav books from last year! So as long as you don't mind a fair bit of setup, I think the world-building is so fantastic and unique and the characters become more lovable over time.
12:33 - also team map and i refer to it throughout as i live havibg the visual of where they are. Would be interested to know if people who are visual readers also tend to like maps or of there is a mix - you are giving me hardback books with maps envy! 😂💜📚
Progress is progress ;))) I am with you in that boat of having sooo many sequels you haven't read because we're waiting for the finale to drop and then binge the whole thing. I personally found The Last Magician a really fun series, even if the first books were stronger than the last (audiobooks are good as well!). And oooh I can't wait to get back to the Truthwitch series once that is done, I enjoyed those first three so much! 🤩
Eerily really similar things happening with my list omg… like both lies of Locke Lamora + name of the wind I’ve owned unread for years, same copies you have. And the other night I randomly had an itch to read truthwitch so I pulled it out from the back of my shelf. I had no clue the next book was coming out soon I’ve had this for years and watched each new one come out. I’m excited to finally read it. Also the whole reading only 16 pages of a book and going back ages later to actually read it, yup.
One day Locke Lamora and Name of the Wind will have their time to shine...just not today. Yes i think I'm going to do a slow reread of the truthwitch series next year to prepare for the final book
Small progress is progress. Or this what I tell myself 😅. I've been trying to reduce my TBR for 2 years now, like you. And the first year, it went down by 4 books and this year, it went down.... by 4 books 🤣. At this rate, it will take about 12 more years to reach my goal of less than 20 books on my physical TBR
i enjoyed the chatty format 😊 your physical tbr doesn’t seem all too bad. and, like you said, you’re headed in the right direction. while having never read either, the invisible library (as well as the st mary’s series) give me veronica speedwell vibes as well. i’ve only read one book by genevieve cogman so far, the first book in the french revolution with vampires series: scarlet. i had fun reading it and am looking forward to continuing the trilogy. i started with the anne bishop books earlier this year and read the first two books. then needed a break. so much cruelty. oof. i do kind of want to continue but need to be in the right headspace/mood for this much cruelty and darkness. i believe i read some comment somewhere that the tone of the series changes at some point.🤷🏼♀️ awww, book one of the farseer trilogy really worked for me. read it about a year ago. loved it. cannot believe i still haven’t continued with the series. shocking! 😂 i hope your move goes well and without any problems! have a lovely day, abby, and happy reading! 💜
I'm very slowly heading in the right direction 😂 It may just take me many years to get through it all That's good to know that I need to prepare for cruelty in the Anne Bishop series
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but "Lancelot" is actually the first book in The Arthurian Tales trilogy. The next books are "Camelot" then "Arthur". On the plus side, the trilogy is complete, and I really enjoyed "Lancelot". Hopefully you will too. Hope your move goes well.
Best of luck with your move to your new place, hope you have a great time there!🍀. I really would like to know how good the Bernard Cornwell trilogy is as I have the same but haven't gotten to them yet 😅.
Got a 5* recommendation for you to add to your TBR. Just read Blood of the Sands by S C Grayson. Absoluately brilliant. Fab read. To be honest, I think I liked it better than Metal Slinger and that takes some beating! Please give it a read and I'd love to hear your thoughts!
The will of the many was my favorite book last year!! You should definitely read it 😊 Even though I am annoyed by the cover change too. Why do they do that stuff to us?? I went ahead and ordered the new cover because I got a Good Friday Amazon deal and I loved the book, but I’m mad about it. 😂
I watched Gladiator 2 and that made me want to read it even more...that Roman inspired vibe. The cover change here is not cool! I hope they make the dust jacket for book 2 reversible so that both styles are maintained
@ here in the us anyway it looks like the columns from the front of the old one are on the naked hardcover and just inside the cover, so that part I like.

I like set up and world building...I feel like you've just sold it to me more
1:49 - but that is highly sensible and satisfying! Checking you like the series, buting the rest, reading them and starting tue next book 👍😆💜📚
It's sensible but also a challenge for getting the TBR down...
13:27 - exactly, not reading until Aaaall the books are out! 😂💜📚
I tell myself that and then I go rogue and start unfinished series! 😂
Yay for the Invisible Library!

I love the visuals of a map! I just do not understand why you wouldn't want a map

Yes small progress from 64 to 61... at least it didn't go up.
Yes I think I'm going to do a slow reread over next year to prepare for the final book
@@AbbySalter I would join you for that reread!!
Some people have been wrapping all their books up in paper and picking one at random to read- makes it a bit of fun
I've seen that...it feels like a lot of wrapping paper 😂
61 isn’t bad at all!! 💕
Thank you!! 💜

@@AbbySalter Ooh how about a book club/buddy read thing for the series? That would be quite fun, I fear! 🤫

4 books is still 4 books...it's something. At least it didn't go up. The first step to reducing is maintaining

This was fun! I also have the feeling when I look at my books that I want to read a good half of them really soon which is completely impossible 😅
It is so impossible but my brain sometimes doesn't understand that 😂
💚🖤
All I can say is 461 books 📚 ❤
Oh WOW!!
Start reading 😂
