I’ve made a bunch of these over the years when I have some nice wood. I make the edges pointy so it looks like a flying saucer. Great wedding gift. Nice video, thanks.

Nice candle holder. I was thinking bubinga, but it’s too brown for that. You mentioned teak in another comment, and that might be what it is. Still is nice lumber, and turning.

Thank you 😃 Maybe bubinga, hadn’t thought of that. Just worked with some walnut and it’s not that.

    👍 Very nice!
What finish product do you use?

Thank you Bernard! 👍 I only have two finishes, a danish oil and a foodsafe oil. Danish on this one. Looking for other types. Do you have any to recomend.

@@nordicturning I use friction polish for most of my lathe work. Almost everything else gets Danish oil.

@@sethowens I got some friction polish, but rarely use it.. I probably should 😉

I have some sapele blanks that look very similar. So i tried your design with one and the final product was very similar also. So maybe sapele... But not 100%

Hi Jon 😃 Maybe you’re right, kind of looks like sapele.

    Looks like walnut.

I’m not sure.. a bit too red for walnut and too hard is my thought. Maybe teak?

@@nordicturning that could be a possibly.
