- This unique boat ride was revamped in 2009, but still managed to keep all the charm of the original Monster Plantation that was loved by young & old alike.

My little sister sat up front the first time she rode this and nearly cried because "She thought she drove us into the marsh." She thought there was a way not to go in. XD

my fiance and I rode this for the hell of it a couple weeks ago. We had never noticed it before and I don't know what we were thinking it'd be like. I guess we were thinking it'd actually be kind of scary. We waited about an hour or so in line. It took forever because the people working the ride didn't know what they were doing and got all the boats jammed so we had to wait for them to fix that problem. I will say it was a cutesy little ride. For a moment I felt like a kid again....and then all the fog started to fuck with my eyes lol

If you ride it now, the ending part is VERY loud, Sounds like a train is directly in front of you.
It would scare the shit out of me too because I’m sensitive to loud noises

The "marsh" used to be a lot scarier in the 80s and 90s. Im sure some overprotective soccer moms got mad that their little mama-boy kids got a little too scared so they took a lot of the scarey stuff out. There used to be puffs of air that would come from the monster that definitely made your heart beat a little faster. Not to mention the Nazi PC police obviously got Six Flags to change the name of the ride from "The Monster Plantation" to the "Monster Mansion".
I'll never call it Mansion. It'll always be Plantation to me.

Favorite ride of all time when I was a kid! When you are young and see the monsters in the end, they look HUGE! Combination of the forces perspective and imagination! Great ride!

Went on this ride yesterday with my boyfriend, and it was the first time either of us had been on it in about 10 years (Monster Plantation the last time I rode it). I did notice a few changes. The monsters in the marsh didn't spit water (let down) and the big monster at the end makes more of a fart sound (I know it's suppose to be a horn) instead of the mist of water (another let down, especially on hot days). But I like that they gave it a face lift and fixed all the monsters.
What a pshycedelic ride.

As I recall this ride used to have water blown out off the mouth of the dragon at the end.....guess they disabled it cus it got too scary and replaced it with an occasional air-horn fart effect xD

Did this ride used to have a giant mouth that you had to ride through that opened and closed right before you exited the ride? I think this was the same ride I went on in the 90's, but I'm not sure now since they revamped it.

On fright night they have people dressed up like freddy with a chainsaw and the reaper hangen around there.

man this baby ass ride wasn't nothing like how they had it in the video I'm thinking shit was going to jump out at me in the dark all it had was red eyes every were I was looking forward to actually have the last part jump in my face but it didn't to be honest I feel like I visited the under world and came back to the light

I wonder why they changed the name of the ride but the song lyrics still say "plantation." Oh well it'll always be Monster Plantation to me as well.
I can't believe they turned my all-time favorite ride into this bullshit. The part where you leave the plantation and enter the "scary" part is completely unneeded and, quite frankly, ruins the experience. I'm glad they didn't remove anything. I just wish they hadn't added anything either.
