Congratulations on reaching 25000! I started watching your channel because my parents went to Hawaii for a month or two every year from the late 70s until about 2005. Dad being a WWII Marine, loved the military presence, and they both loved the beauty. They both died in 2020 of old age causes, but watching your channel makes me remember things about them. I like your philosophies that you share with us in every video. I have enjoyed your channel for a couple years now, always enjoy the insightful and local perspective. Keep up the great work. My dad was military so we had the good fortune to live on Oahu for his three different tours of duty living in Kailua , he work on KMCAS back then. I just watched this video and had to laugh. I am 73 (old in age, young at heart), I’m a subscriber, originally from Hawaii but have lived on the mainland (South Carolina) for 33 years. So I guess it may be true, you have a lot of “older” viewers. The other thing I wanted to tell you is seeing your neighborhood made me homesick. At one time when I was newly married, I lived on Ahuimanu Rd! I LOVE the view of the Koolau’s. Keep up the great work…you’ll reach your 100K goal. 😊🌴😊🌺😊
Congratulations on 25K!! I enjoy watching your channel because it’s REAL. I’m so tired of all the fake, over glamorized Hawai’i channels. I enjoy seeing real people talking about the real Hawaii.
Congrats on 25k and I love your videos. I made one video : my list of food joints and grocery places in manoa. You inspired me in some ways. I live in California and hope to some day run into you one day.
I really enjoy your content. Its an honest commentary on what its like to live in Hawaii without the glossy travel agency spin to attract tourists. Keep up the great work and you will get to 100K in no time!
Keep up with the videos/blogs. It is honest and real. And the fact you have alot of older people is because we can relate and have lived it/experienced it. That is what does separate you from others. Stay real and much aloha!
I was just in Hawaii a week ago and we stayed in a neighborhood and not in downtown Honolulu. It was so awesome waking up to the sounds of Roosetrs and not the sound of traffic or tourist noise. The sights and sounds and even smells of that place will stay with me for a long time. Love the channel and the content. Keep up the great work Mahalo for showing the beautiful side of Hawaii.
I love Kailua kaneohe besides Makawao Maui. My old stomping grounds. You were a twinkle in your mothers eye when I lived Hawaii. I love your channel because you always bring me home. Plus you make it real so other non islanders thinking of Hawaii as a home you have rich information for them. and your love for the islands is strong. I believe in you and believe you will meet the UTUBE quotas. The other point I thought about when I posted is your soothing calming voice. Too many UTUBE presenters think they have to be loud and high energy talking about different parts of the country. You are kindhearted real aloha and as calm as my experience of Hawaii in the 70’s and 80’s. I never thought I would leave as I have written before. My physical self left and my spiritual self lives on there because of the love that embraced an abused teenager who found a safe place to call home. Your soothing calm voice always brings me back to my safe place. Mahalo Nuti loa a Hui hou
You would be great as the Hawaiian Moving Company host! Hit the nostalgia bone when you mentioned that. Love your videos, I'll still be around when you hit 100K.
Kaneohe, my original home town, Halekou to be exact late 40's to mid 50's when we moved to Kailua. Looks very much like you are very close to the Halekou area. I'm a subscriber and I'm 76 and enjoy watching your channel. Born and raised local boy 4th gen, wife and I both grad UH but ended up like so many others, moving away for better paying jobs, cost of living and ability to afford a SF home. Thought I would never leave Hawai'i. Ah, finally a street sign in your video, you are a ways from Halekou. Yes, grew up in a SF home that my Dad built himself 1947 with no power tools. Back then that whole area was nothing but cow pastures and a few dairy farms. Yes, miss Hawai'i big time, love seeing all the greenery against that beautiful blue sky and the Ko'olau Mountains. Mahalo for your videos and Aloha from Washington State.
Hey Chris - great philosophy, as always. Thank you for protecting us, as the audience. Seriously, it means a lot. Some of the background shots I am seeing are reminding me of the Ho'olamuhia Botanical garden area - is that near where you were wandering? We visited on our last trip (that ended the beginning of this month) and loved both the garden and the very homey (seeming) suburban area leading up to it. It is going to sound ridiculous (you've been warned in advance) but one of my fondest food-related memories from the trip was eating at Burger King (YES, BK) in Kaneohe. It was because we had spent such a long and wonderful morning driving around before going there - having visited both the Nu'uanu Pali Lookout and the Botanical gardens in addition to our drives through the super pleasant suburban neighborhoods. Even though it was just BK, it was so nice to just sit together as a family and reflect on our morning and Hawaii in general. Kaneohe felt "real" to me in a way that made some of the other places we visited feel... I don't know...phony? Maybe not phony, but at least...dressed for tourism instead of...life. Anyway, thanks again for sharing your insights and especially for sharing with us where you are from.
It's on that side of the island, but not really too close. And thanks for sharing your BK story. Glad you were able to just eat together and enjoy a meal, even if in BK in Kaneohe. I love Kaneohe. Very proud to have grown up on that side.
You are so genuine and humble with all of your local perspectives and so appreciate you sharing via RUclips. I cant begin to tell you how much I look forward to each new video. But I am still anxiously waiting on your video addressing the “Only in Hawaii” observations/questions I have with regards to backing in vehicles, Heineken, love of 9th island, staycations, why no thingamajiggies in gas pumps that let you pump gas hands free, and there are others, I gotta think!
I’m so happy you mentioned the kindness of the comments. I don’t think I’ve seen a more supportive and loving comment section on a RUclips channel. Mahalo 🤙🏻

Aloha Chris! First congratulations on 25K!! What an exciting and also amazing accomplishment. We’re confident that as long as you keep doing what you’re doing you’ll reach that 100K. Second we absolutely love Kaneohe. The views are stunning and the area is full of places to explore and of course eat. We actually found ourselves spending more time in Kaneohe this recent trip. Thank you for always sharing your stories and perspective on life in Hawaii. It helps us understand and appreciate the aina as well as the people that call Hawaii home. Congratulations again!!🤙🏽

Congratulations on 25k! I found your channel in 2019 while researching the culture and how to be respectful on my first trip to Hawaii and have kept up ever since. Thanks for giving me insights into local life and struggles that are easily missed by us mainlanders.
Chris, you deliver great local perspective content and you do it so well! Your 25k + subscribers are well earned! Keep doing what you're doing and I'll put 20 zip packs on it that you will hit 100k subscribers!
Been enjoying your content for years and encourage you to keep up the hard work! I am also from Ktown and have strong ties with Japan (lived there for a good portion of my life). After returning home, I came across your channel and you always touch on aspects of Hawaii (both good and bad) that always comes across my mind. Good luck on the next milestone of your RUclips creation. You will achieve those numbers no doubt! Ganbatte ne and a hui hou!

I think you can totally reach 100k! Thanks for talking about and showing the regular side of living here on Oahu that not much people know about. Also my audience seems to be in the same age range so far lol.
I totally understand that feeling of when you meet your subscribers. We started a RUclips channel last year and it's really neat when you meet subscribers. Keep up the great content!
Totally enjoyed your stroll through Kaneohe and the beautiful view of the Koolau range. Watching this episode made me feel how lucky we are to call Hawaii home, for me, it's been the last 65 years. I live in Kailua and have a view of both the Koolau and Olomana mountains, they are both so majestic. Good luck on your journey to 100k, I appreciate your time and insight on your many videos. Mahalo!
Congratulations!!! 25k milestone is something to celebrate. My husband is about to make 60k for his channel (ping pong flix) and I know what you mean by just having the plaque would mean so much more than a degree because of all the hard work he’s put in. Being in Hawaii, it’s one of those things where you feel like you can’t make it big unless you leave hawaii but with YT at least you feel like there’s a chance.
Congrats on his success. So much work goes into growing a channel and most people don't see that work. He's on his way and be sure to celebrate when it happens for him.
I’m surprised that your audience is older because at 71, I felt like an interloper. I’m married to a Japanese and my children are your generation. My favorite part of Japan is Ishigakijima and I felt, on a short trip to Hawaii, that there was something of the same atmosphere in Hawaii.
I enjoy your videos. This one, especially, because I was watching to see everyplace you walked that I recognized from my time in Kaneohe - quite a lot of them, I was pleased to note. And I miss that mountain all the time. We were about as mauka as you can get, and it's a personality when you're up there, not just a view! I miss it a lot, and I only lived there for half a year. You keep at it, you'll get your hundred grand subscrips. I'm sure, because your content is real and honest and interesting. Mahalo for all the effort you put into this. It is appreciated for certain by me. \_/
Congrats on 25k!🎉 Hey Chris, can please consider interviewing random (or not so random) locals as another style of content. You’re a great speaker but I think you would also make a great interviewer. Thanks for sharing your perspective on everything Hawaii. 🤙

I loved looking at the mountains. I used to live at the end of Ahuimanu Road in Kahaluu and loved feeling embraced by the mountains and the tons of waterfalls during the rainy season. I love your videos for your intelligent insights and local vibe. I do miss it and really appreciate the wonderful life I had growing up there and bringing up my family there. Thanks for helping me remember it all.
It’s a pleasure to follow your channel, always very informative, and based on real life experience and analysis. The wealth of information and your unique way of explaining is really what makes you stand out, there is a sense of genuineness and you explain everything very eloquently, again from a local’s perspective. Glad to see the picturesque and beautiful neighborhood you grew up in, you are one lucky man. Mahalo.
You most definitely need sponsors! You are bringing so much positive attention to Hawaii that local companies should sponsor you! I particularly enjoy your outdoor/walking videos and looking into daily Hawaiian life. I may never be able to move there (a lifelong dream), but I love the culture and learn something new every time I watch your videos. Keep up the awesome work and I hope you reach that next milestone very very soon!
Chris, I want to know the real nitty-gritty of growing up and … living in #Hawaii. I want to know what it is like growing up in a crowded house, with bugs, and other hurdles, please. I want to know what having one’s house “tented” is like, too.
Hey chris... farrington '74. An oldie but love the content. Living on the mainland since '77. Appreciate the perspective of a local boy that experienced the mainland and chose to go back home. Potential tourists, future residents and returning islanders enjoy that you have made the feelings part of hawaii more tangible. From a kalihi boy with 6 siblings it is possible to experience other places and still call hawaii ... home. Aloha brah 🙂
Hello from Indiana, Chris! What I like about your channel is that I’m more excited to eventually visit Hawaii when I get the chance. You don’t sugarcoat anything and you’re also honest about what you like and what you dislike. That is so important. Everyone has different tastes, and that’s what makes us people interesting and unique. For instance, if you don’t like poke, that’s perfectly fine. I might like it. If you love SPAM and Kalua pig, that’s OK too. I can’t have pork products for cultural or religious reasons, but it’s not the end of the world. I bring me points up because I like your food reviews compared to other peoples reviews because you’re honest and you’re very clear about what you like and dislike and that’s important. I also like your honest input about every day things like cost of living, having children with your wife at Kaiser Permanente, and growing up with your family and going to your grandparents house on the weekends. You’re sweet Father’s Day tribut was much needed. It was amazing to hear about all the things that your father did for you and your brother and the values that you learned from your father and Will hopefully pass on to your son as well. Bye for now and keep up the good work on the videos. I don’t know if you’ve visited the Midwest before, but I hope you come.
Mahalo for the comment and appreciate the kind words. I agree that the likes and dislikes are what makes us interesting. I'm probably too upfront about my dislikes when it comes to food reviews, which is why I don't do too many 😄 But it's great that I'm able to share my perspective on this platform and that people can connect.
Hawaiian Moving Company by Hawaiian Host Chocolate, God that brought back memories, Mahalo. Yea I don’t know but can they count if someone unsubscribes, if not then all 25K can unsubscribe and the resubscribe and that will give you 50K, then we do it two more times and wala 100K. Just a thought 😜. Aloha 🤙🏼❤️🇺🇸🤠
Yeah, they keep track of unsubscribes so it wouldn't provide any net gain. 😄 But I'm sure it will happen organically over time. And if not, I'm proud of what I put out there.
9:00 This is the reason why I found this channel admittedly. If I didn't move away with some family I probably wouldn't be here on this channel. This is a coping mechanism for me unfortunately. Because I'm not successful or rich enough to remain in Hawaii it's content and channels like Hello from Hawaii that keeps me at least small kine happy. Something not to be taken for granted of. Mahalo, genuinely. Chris. From a 90s Hilo side boy born and raised to Mililani Mauka, Oahu adulthood enjoyer
What about working in the tourism industry, particularly educating tourists? I was first drawn to your videos because I wanted to educate myself more about Hawaii. I'm not from Hawaii so watching your videos was very eye-opening for me. Just a thought. Keep up the good work!
Mahalo for the suggestion. The tourism industry is an option, but not really what I'm interested in. Maybe for visitors that want to know a little more about this place without all of the marketing and flash.
After listening to this I felt prompted to give you some feedback. If your goal is to get to 100K subscribers and get the silver plaque, then I thought I would make a couple of suggestions. I am not sure if they align with what you are trying to do but here goes. I enjoy your channel because it gives a "local" perspective on living in Hawaii. That being said, I think you could give more attention to the beauty of Oahu and not just the sober view of how hard it is to live there. This episode is an example of that. It shows the stunning beauty of Kaneohe, but shows us a neighborhood view, and your local perspective, rather than a touristy view. I think you could do the same for other locations on the island, I for one would find it interesting.
Mahalo for the suggestion. I've tried to find a balance when it comes to content on this channel. There are light-hearted topics and also more topics about the challenges of making it here. Hoping to have more time to go out to different places around Hawaii, because yes, there's a lot of beauty here.
Nice neighborhood, the kind of place I would like to spend my winter months...ironic that your audience seems to be of the older demographics, the ones with money and who grew up with Hawaii-5O and other Hawaiian themed shows and movies 😆. I also wonder if you become a full time utuber, how long can you sustain that as you grow older, and how about health insurance and pension plans, and etc.
Thank you for all of the encouraging comments. I really enjoyed making this video, from outlining to filming to editing. And while the video may not reach a huge audience, I enjoyed it. Probably my favorite video of the year. Miss seeing those Koolau Mountains everyday.
That is really a fabulous neighborhood and place.

congrats on 25k! I used to love watching the Hawaiian Moving Company too!!! you would be perfect as the host!
😄
Congratulations on 25K!! I enjoy watching your channel because it’s REAL. I’m so tired of all the fake, over glamorized Hawai’i channels. I enjoy seeing real people talking about the real Hawaii.
Appreciate that 🤙
Congrats on 25k and I love your videos. I made one video : my list of food joints and grocery places in manoa. You inspired me in some ways. I live in California and hope to some day run into you one day.
Great video with good recommendations in Manoa. My wife loves Off the Hook. 🤙
I indeed love your words and prospective on life in Hawaii. Your insights are amazing. Thanks so much for sharing. Mahalo
Mahalo 🤙
I really enjoy your content. Its an honest commentary on what its like to live in Hawaii without the glossy travel agency spin to attract tourists. Keep up the great work and you will get to 100K in no time!
Mahalo. Appreciate the kind words.
Keep up with the videos/blogs. It is honest and real. And the fact you have alot of older people is because we can relate and have lived it/experienced it. That is what does separate you from others. Stay real and much aloha!
🤙 Appreciate the kind words.
👏🌺Congrats.

Hope you enjoyed your time here.
@@HelloFromHawaii I did and the Aloha has not left me yet. I hope it will stay with me through the winter months here in Maryland.
let get you to 100k
Beautiful neighborhood. You are great and trusted, which is rare.
Mahalo for the kind words.

Mahalo for the comment. Yeah, I wish they would bring back the show.

Congrats Sir 👏
🤙
Thanks!
Mahalo for the Super Thanks 🤙 Appreciate it
You are so genuine and humble with all of your local perspectives and so appreciate you sharing via RUclips.
Mahalo for the comment. Yes, I have the "Only in Hawaii" script brewing. Add to that list signwaving during election season.

Mahalo for the encouragement. Hope you enjoy your trip to Oahu.
It helps that you’re not borderline yelling your message across 😂
Hi Chris! Congratulations! I love how genuine you are when you talk to your audience. So real and authentic! I think the best part is getting comments too. I can totally relate to what you’re saying.
Yeah, comments are the best part of RUclips. I hope to be able to keep up with the comments as the boys get older and we get busier. 😁
THANK YOU Chris for sharing your knowledge and experiences of Hawaii. I loved it so much when I lived there and I will always consider it my home.
Mahalo!
Mahalo for the comment. Kailua is beautiful. I always think of it as Kaneohe's rich cousin 😆
I would love to run into you when I’m there in January. I guess if I stop by Zippys every day my odds are pretty good!

I never knew that most of your viewers are older, im 13 and I watch you. Also I want to ask you, Do you like Spam Musubi?
Yeah, love Spam musubi, especially after a hike.
I’m surprised that your audience is older because at 71, I felt like an interloper. I’m married to a Japanese and my children are your generation. My favorite part of Japan is Ishigakijima and I felt, on a short trip to Hawaii, that there was something of the same atmosphere in Hawaii.
I'm surprised that my audience is older too, but much appreciated for the perspective they provide.
Mahalo for the comment. Yeah, I was going to make more videos of Kaneohe, my hometown. Amazing place to grow up.
Hi Chris, I appreciate you and all your “local” stories of real life. You talk about the good and bad of real local life. Congrats on 25k👏👏👏👏🤙🤙🤙

One of the best thing I can say about these videos is that I try to watch each one from beginning until end. I learn something new each video.
Thanks for watching them to the end. Appreciate that, since I try to wrap them up with something positive, even if the video is critical.
Congrats on the 25k subs benchmark, well deserved. I have only live here of the past 3 years and truly enjoy your insight on life here on Hawaii.

Congrats on 25k!🎉
Hey Chris, can please consider interviewing random (or not so random) locals as another style of content. You’re a great speaker but I think you would also make a great interviewer. Thanks for sharing your perspective on everything Hawaii. 🤙
Great suggestion. I think that would be great, but I have to look into waivers and other legal stuff.

Small world. Ahuimanu is great. A lot of the houses are bigger these days, but still has that small neighborhood vibe.
🤙
Love Kaneohe. There was two “Hawaiian Moving Company” right? First was a disco format show. And then the one with Michael W Perry, I recall.
Yeah, I think it changed. Didn't watch the dance format, though.
Mahalo.
Mahalo for the kind words. Proud to grow up on that side of the island. So beautiful.
🤙
Mahalo for sharing. You might be my aunty's classmate 😄
Mmm interesting question !
Mahalo for the comment. Appreciate you sticking around. I'm hoping that locals who moved away can still find ways to stay connected.
What’s your brothers channel
ikonakona. Gaming channel
Good questions. Not sure it would be sustainable as I get older. Hawaiian Moving Company? 😆
