      Yep! No one wanted to actually SEE her be killed - not David Chase, not Stevie Van Zandt, and even the “Long Term Parking” episode writer, Terence Winter, said he scripted the scene so she’d crawl out of camera view because he just couldn’t bear to see her actually get shot. Goes to show how powerful of a show it is!

      @@SopranosBlueprint seeing her shot personally I don't think could have made that scene more brutal. The sound of her terrified heavy breathing so scared she is crawling as fast as she could knowing she is going to be killed it was soul jarring.

      @@teresasmith8946 Good point. Also, re: the crawling, awhile back I noticed how Lorraine is crawling in a similar fashion when she’s about to be shot - to me it illustrates their overall vulnerability and perhaps the idea that they were even more defenseless as women getting caught up in “this thing of ours.”

      I found it hard to believe Adrianna was so bad at dealing with a little pressure from the Feds. They really didn’t have much on her at first and if she had just lawyerd up and kept her mouth shut she would have been okay. Seems she would have had the street smarts to not panic considering she was in that life by Blood. At least two of her uncles were mobsters (Richie and Jackie) and her mom had been married to a mobster. Christopher shouldn’t have had to even coach her on what to do but it would not have hurt if he did.

    • @stevenhancock2822
      @stevenhancock2822 2 года назад

      This was where the show, along with the Agent Harris plot, started to show the feds as being just as morally corrupt as the mob. They essentially overcharged someone who was a non-associate of the family, in order to try to flip a low-level member of the family, to try to get at the head of the family. They got Adriana killed, and in the end, it was for nothing.

      I always think of FBI Chief Frank Cubitoso's comment to Agent Lipari: "These things can work two ways, Skip. You can find yourself getting too close." Agent Sanseverino definitely chose the NOT getting close way of handling things, but then we see the extreme opposite end of the spectrum with Agent Ciccerone ("Danielle").

    Funny how the FBI are first portrayed as high tech Keystone Cops comic relief. But as the series progresses, their constant diligence pays off at slowly wearing down the mob. Should be noted how cold blooded they were with Adriana, after learning of her 'disappearance' they just shrugged it off 'oh well'. Shame how they scared, connived and used her.

    • @SopranosBlueprint

      Absolutely! Remember right after she throws up in the FBI office, Chief Cubitoso says "Get the waste basket." And in S3, E1, when Skip mentions in the meeting that they should assume Puss is dead, we see him tossing something into the trash as he's talking. They were all so disposable.

    • @SopranosBlueprint
      @SopranosBlueprint  2 года назад +5

      Yeah, I could see that. He certainly had many venting sessions over the years where Tony and co. were the objects of frustration. I think his one big make or break moment in terms of getting away from Tony was in Long Term Parking, which we know he turned down. I think he would’ve resented Tony well into the future but not completely turned on him (once he decided not to in LTP).

    • @Mo.Sherin
      @Mo.Sherin 2 года назад +1

      That's the thing though, he killed him and we never heard anything about him after, he was a famous writer how come tony never heard of his death? It's possible that the Feds covered the murder when Christopher went to them in order to protect him, Killing JT would have brought a lot of heat from tony towards Christopher.

    • @SopranosBlueprint
      @SopranosBlueprint  2 года назад

      @@Mo.Sherin That’s also a good point and it actually makes me think a little about another murder on the show, when Eugene went into the restaurant and shot the guy pretty much in plain sight. Of course we know Eugene’s fate later that episode so it’s not like he was going to be prosecuted, but it’s hard to believe a shooting as in the open as that wouldn’t have led to any repercussions or consequences, or at the very least an investigation. But maybe the FBI would’ve looked the other way like they mostly did with the Matt Bevilaqua murder.

Also it's a reference to the posterior or backside of an animal. She did have a nice posterior but she was graceful like a deer also, so maybe it was a combination of the 2.

    11:21 - An interesting thing about this scene is that the actress who played Livia (Nancy Marchand) had passed away before this scene was filmed. It was pieced together using previous lines from earlier episodes. You can tell because the lighting on her face isn’t quiiiiite right, and if you’ve seen the series as many times as I have, you can remember when she said the same thing (“like a MUTE”) in an earlier episode.

    The one thing that bothers me a little in Sopranos, well, most moving pictures really, is that when people lie, they do it so good, and so ordinary, even when they're obviously guilty, just like Pussy. In reality, when people lie, its often obvious.

    • @SopranosBlueprint
      @SopranosBlueprint  Год назад

      Interesting observation. With regard to Puss, there’s one scene in “Nobody Knows Anything” (S1, E11) where Tony shows up at Puss’s place in the afternoon (3:00, no surprise there!) trying to find out what’s going on with him, and the way Puss says “Things are happening, Tony” etc. etc., seems so suspicious - I feel like Tony was in such denial that he would’ve accepted anything Puss said, short of “I’m working with the FBI.” In terms of their lack of guilt when lying, I think they get so used to it that it doesn’t really affect them like it would for other people.

    • @damazywlodarczyk
      @damazywlodarczyk Год назад

      @@SopranosBlueprint It comes down to context, when you lie all the time in casual convo, it looks natural, but when you're in the moment, in specific conversation, when people confront you, you break down, you stumble, and its visible. He saw a man struggling counting his change, trying to pump gas, knowing that he probably won’t have money to get any other type of pleasure in his life other than that gas. Christopher knew that he would have to go and live the civilian life which he wasn’t accustomed to. But I feel that Christopher sold himself a little too short. Even though he didn’t deserve it, in season, one or mid season two, he got his series 7 license for stockbroker where they had a pump and dump scam he could’ve definitely used that to start a pretty lucrative career but he would’ve known anything but it was definitely got him in the door

    • @booognish

      The storyline is pretty ambiguous, he did call that meeting to discuss shit that had already been discussed, got out real quick from that gun charge that pussy ran from, only to show up acting weird as hell asking Tony a bunch of questions. Then when they whacked him, he initially tries to”pull rank” askin Chris and Silvio if they “forgot he was a captain”, then when they tell him to “call for help on his radio”, his eyes go wide and he’s almost speechless. So not at all DEFINITIVE but, it’s definitely not totally clear one way or the other.

Sure there are things we can point to that will suggest he might have been, but there are many things I can also point out to suggest he wasn’t. The truth is, it’s not clear one way or the other the way it was with Big Pussy, Raymond, Eugene, etc. Also, it was clear that whether or not he was a rat, the reason he was killed is because Tony thought Vin mistook Pussy for Jimmy. He would rather believe Jimmy betrayed him than Pussy. Yes it could be that Jimmy was a rat anyway, but there was certainly nothing even close enough in the storyline for this to be presented as if it were fact rather than speculation. I honestly don’t know or care if the character of Jimmy was a rat, but it was one of those things that David Chase left up in the air for people to discuss their theories on, not something presented as a fact. It’s like what happened to Furio, the Russian in forest, or Tony in the last episode, you simply don’t know and can only speculate.
