      lol. Well honestly since I am bald with no hair, it’s very easy to get sunspots on my head. So the best way to protect me is by putting something over it and that is direct contact with the sun once you get above the clouds. And unlike the 777, the design flaw for sun protection in the 787 is that there are no pulldown shades. So either I stuff the window with blankets or stuff things in the window to keep the sun out and I can’t quite do that when I’m below 10k feet. To it may seem a fashionable statement it’s my way of protecting the skin on my head

    It's very rare to see a pilot flying a big jet manually. Usually at some hundreds feet (it depends on the Air Company's policies) the autopilot is engaged. Pilots of big jets are not very keen on flying it manually, as well. I remember the first time I flew a B737SFP, manually, from SBMO (MCZ) to SBSP (CGH), as a copilot. The captain said to me "you can do it if you want but you're crazy!", but it's exactly what I did and, surely, I loved it. When I moved to other airline, to engage the autopilot at 1000' was mandatory, so no more manual flight after this altitude. :( Anyway, great video, Captain! 👍

It’s only effective for low visibility approaches as the airplane does an autoland and you can both look out the window instead of one looking out and the other heads down monitoring instruments. But again, it’s my preference and we are all allowed to have preferences

      @@sr.pilot.anthony yeah you try to move out of the runaway quickly with that parking brake selected, or shutdown a runaway because it failed. “Practice” my beloved bottom! HUD is a safety device, it is a PFD in most airplanes equipped with it, or else some types of approaches could not be certified, especially under FAR part 25 for example; and last time I checked safety was not a personal preference. Maybe it’s the bandana…. Happy landings while you last, buddy

    • @sr.pilot.anthony
      @sr.pilot.anthony  3 месяца назад

      Well if you coming here to entertain me makes you happy by all means may the universe continue to bless you with all the power you seek and deserve. To clarify since you apparently aren’t a qualified pilot, you would understand what aircraft inspections are for. You could read and educate yourself to see how many airplanes have had parking brake failure on an active runway. And if you had any sense of what PIC authority is then you would be educated enough to know there is never any need for anything to be done in a hurry in an airplane. And I will continue to stay it again, HUD is NOT a requirement. You think they cancel the flight when it doesn’t work? And if your personal wish of “how long you last” is genuine, than I wish you luck when you criticize a person you know nothing about. Personal faith and preference in the way one choses to live is only subjective to judgement from the creator and not you. Negativity is entertaining to me and only gets you less rewards in life. If you’re so miserable looking at my videos perhaps maybe you can realize you have the choice to not look at them 🤷🏾.

NBAA was the first result, so I will stop there because shortly it will be dinner time. Their “Safety Best Practices” Manual, Chapter 3, “Before Takeoff Checks” and I quote “The aircraft parking brake will not be set while the aircraft is on the active runway”. I will also keep you posted on other findings, but I am starting to suspect we’re outside of the realm of a “common practice”, if there are official recommendations against it. Oh, working on the HUD as a PFD! Regards!

      @@sr.pilot.anthony pasta not ready yet 😀so…. ICAO Doc 10161, “Global Aviation Safety Roadmap” recommends the use of HUD to improve safety and situational awareness. 787 MMEL allows the HUD to be inoperative but only unless current conditions dictate its use (low vis, etc). In essence if the weather is just right a 787 without operable HUD’s may have to cancel certain types of approaches, so divert or no-go.
      Good safety practice by Captains should be to use it and train in its use, since it is a safety device, in order to be proficient for when is required for the approach, normally “bad weather”.
      I believe safety overrides both personal preferences and Captain authority but I will be sure to keep educating myself
