Ayanokoji is just the smartest and more badass character in anime. With this I prove it. I've never once thought of you as an ally. Not you. Not Kushida. Not Hirata. All people are nothing but tools. It doesn't matter how its done. It doesn't matter what needs to be sacrificed. In this world, winning is everything. As long as I win in the end...That's all that matters.

Mild spoilers ahead He wants to experience a normal life before being shipped to White Room where he will be a lab rat for the rest of his life. Through out the light novel he keeps being fascinated by students there, but his view point never changes because there is noone at his level. This is why he displays interest and intrigue when his classmates achive growth, because they are coming closer to what he is and because they become more useful to him. This is mostly pronounced with Kei, whom he wants to see as a lover, and Horikita, whom he wants to see as an ally. He is pleased with Horikita's growth even if it means his control is getting weaker and weaker. He likes Kei's displays of envy and affection even if they become bothersome at times. Latest volume was pure fire though(Year 2 Volume 6), first time he acted for the sake of Horikita even though logically it was a terrible choice to make.
Thanks to the director of this anime creation we'll never get S2..normally in animes there are deviations from manga's or LN''s but this guy rotated infinitely like he literally destroyed it as if he was the writer/author.
LOL um... the anime gave Horikita a more important role and messed it a lot when in the Light novel you can easily forget her name, also Ayanokoji had more emotions in the light novel and it tells us that he is an unreliable narrator. The pool scene wasn't for Horikita too

One of the best things about this anime is the eyes. Like even when you see the bad side of the two faced girl( forgot her name) her eyes are really cool
