Chuck, I have been drawing all my life. However, until I was 35, I was dreadful about moving up into oil. Seeing your videos at the beginning of the pandemic inspired me to ditch colored pencils and join the big league. Last month I had an exhibition. Thank you so much for teaching me how to paint.
Same here. Took my first painting class at a community college last semester because of this channel inspiring me to try. I’m 36 and by the end of semester I couldn’t believe I waited so long to try.
Hi Chuck, I love watching you paint and how you capture everything, big and small, dark and light, hilites and shadings, inside your painting. I love the forest, the smell of the pine trees, other trees, grass, ferns, stumps, walking the floor of it, seeing the sunlight peek through the leaves and trees, hearing the birds chirping, whether I see them or don’t, I love everything about nature, God’s Creation. The forest illuminates the Spiritual side of life to me and brings excitement and a peace with joy. It reminds me of when I was a child, playing with my cousins in the forest, when it was safe to do that back then. The smell of the pine trees, my favourite, hearing the wind or a breeze rustle through the forest trees and floor…there’s nothing like it on this earth. Your paintings are so realistic for me, I can close my eyes, imagine squirrels running about and feel like I’m standing in the middle of it and walking through on the soft leaves that have fallen, with the sponginess under my feet and/or sitting on the floor of the grasses or leaves with tree needles/pine cones with a blanket and a lunch basket. Thank you Chuck for giving me/us so much joy in what you paint. God Bless you always✝️✝️✝️
Hey April, thank you for your support. You are one the lucky winners for a print! Please shoot me an email with your mailing address and we'll get that out to you next week. -Chuck
I have no words that can express how your gift of art has touched my heart. Sorry to sound so sappy. The truth is I cried. No words just tears. As a artist I am learning from you, what a amazing teacher you are! Thank you so much for sharing your love of this world with us. Please never stop. Thank you.
The sunlight strikes the forest in the East in a similar way, and we have ruffled grouse. All magnificent, East and West. A fine portrayal of the western forest, Chuck. Thank you!
My favorite, trees and a beautiful forest. How beautiful. Every detail makes me want to walk down the opening. Love it so much. Thank you for sharing, you always lift my spirit and the Lord is in all your paintings. God Bless you
Chuck, Fifty years ago my husband and I started our life together with a trip to the forest. We instilled our love for the mountains in our children with many camping, hiking, and camper travels. Your paintings keep our memories alive. I can smell the woodland, feel the warmth of the sun, and hear the sounds of nature in this new painting of yours. Beautiful! So, thanks for the memories! Kathy
That's a beautiful painting ! Mr Chuck, To tell you the truth I also want to be an artist and I'm pursuing and keep improving my skills, you are one of the reason why I like paintings, I like those details on your painting and how you love nature and put it in your canvas and show the world about nature. Hope that I can be that artist I want to be ! Keep Inspiring Mr chuck ! 🔥❤️
Thank you Chuck for sharing another of your masterpieces with us! Thank you also for sharing your thoughts that led you to create this, you encourage me to stop a moment and think deeper. We are always in such a rush, and even as a fellow artist, I find myself missing a lot, especially after hearing your thoughts. Thank you!
I subscribed just over a year ago. All my life I had wanted to learn to paint but never had the chance, life was too busy, until lockdown. This is when I discovered you😊. You have taught me many techniques which I deeply thank you for. I can escape into my art and feel content, focused and happy, and somewhat temporarily forget the worry’s of the world. I enjoy watching you work magic on your canvas thanks for being such and inspiration to me. All the best
The workmanship is brilliant. I appreciate you taking your time to deliberate on the steps you wanted to take. So relatable. Thank you for sharing your brilliance
I love this change in your style. I love that you are voicing out loud that you have reached a point of painting how you paint not how others think you should paint. This painting and the one where you talk about this change. And the snowy trail with the sun light are my favorites because i can tell they are so personal to you... i have paintings that are like this to me that i havent shared with other people but you have encouraged me to "paint how i paint" and if people dont like it thats ok because by "painting how i paint" my art is honest now. And true representation of me.
Chuck - I absolutely love this painting. It reminds me of the state forest that bordered the back of my In-laws property. It was so nice to just walk in the serenity of the woods and perhaps spot a deer or fox. My wife and I would go for walks and just talk, away from the craziness of the days activities. You captured it perfectly. Keep up the great work. It is very inspiring.
I have hunted since I was a kid and I would draw what I saw. Watching you paint gives me that drive to go for it. I could not paint trees but you make it look so easy. Now I see the colors to try. I feel like that little seedling and hope I can grow towards the way to achieve a painting. Thank you for the beauty and the inspiration.
So Beautiful makes me miss my childhood spending time with my Dad and family in these high mountain lake areas was the best time ever You captured it perfectly Beautiful
As always, I am impressed by your art and skill! I'm often stressed out but every time I see one of your Videos, I Start relaxing and think more and deeply about nature. Thank you!
This is such a lovely forest painting and such great timing with all these forest fires destroying these beautiful places .you are making memories and archives for all of use so we never for get the beauty and peacefulness of our forest’s.much Love and keep up the good work I wish I had your talent.❤️
This reminds me so much of places Ive been back home in the rockies of Canada. Now I live in the UK and my husband and I have bought a couple of your limited edition prints. We look at them every day and remember some amazing memories. You capture the essence unlike I have been able to capture myself or find in other paintings. Thank you for what you do Chuck, it warms my homesickness and enlightens my day when I see your art on my wall.
Absolutely dazzling! I grew up in the woods of Western Washington... and I've always pondered on how difficult it would be to correctly capture this kind of lighting of an old growth forest. Not to mention the blurred, endless details of each corner of your eye. Fantastic work.
A truly beautiful piece. The realism of your work never ceases to amaze me. The highlights make the painting come alive. You are one of the first artists I attempted a tutorial with and found your manner easy and very encouraging. I am a person of faith and find "Spirit" in your work. Thank you.
Love this one. I love the forest. And I too find that I see a scene and then something catches my imagination. It’s like I have to paint it. Thanks for sharing your negative space technique.
Thank you for sharing your art and the process with us. It is fascinating watching you paint and hearing you explain the process from beginning to end. Landscapes are my favorite subjects to paint. Your art encourages me to do better.
Your work is mesmerizing. Having spent much of my childhood in the deep forests of Michigan I feel this woods you created. On this piece the little tree and the grouse draw me in.
Chuck, as always your paintings amaze me. Your use of light in this one is extraordinary, and it just draws you into it like you are a part of the painting. It draws your eyes right to the center of it, but then it just makes you want to look around and discovered all the hidden pieces of this wonderful masterpiece. Thanks for sharing with all of us other artists aspiring to be as good as you are.
Hey Debbie, thank you for your support. You are one the lucky winners for a print! Please shoot me an email with your mailing address and we'll get that out to you next week. -Chuck
I love your painting and feel we are kindred spirits. I too have always had a great love for nature, and spent most of my childhood roaming the woods near my home.
I’m so amazed at how talented you are. What a magnificent painting! To have that hanging on your wall would take you to a different place every time you look at it. Adding the Grouse was magical. Very well done and very beautiful.
Beautiful , beautiful painting and a great video. I enjoyed what you had to say here, a lot. The forest has always been my favorite place to find the "inner artist". Hopefully you get a chance to return to that lovely green nature soon. Looking forward to more forest pieces !!!! 😍😍😍

Chuck, the painting is beautiful!! It's so peaceful!! Your use of oil paints is very good!! You inspire the feeling of wanting to paint. The small brush strokes would seem hard to do, but you make it look relaxing. The birds are such a nice touch!! Thank you!
Watching you paint just has me in awe...you are so passionate about your work and shows in your paintings. I have learned so much from you through your videos. I never thought I could ever paint, but you are such an inspiring instructor. I have done a few acrylic paintings, some charcoal drawings, but next... maybe oil. Chuck, big fan here, this is one of your best. It was very emotional for me to watch…not sure why. Simply beautiful. A great justice to the beauty of nature. Thank you!
Another exquisite masterpiece! As I struggle to learn to make better brush marks, I can't help but be in awe of your beautiful brushwork! The area of light & the young sapling dance with life. Enjoy your time in nature. I hope to get to spend more time out in it myself. Thanks for sharing your shading talent & experiences.
The light in this painting is phenomenal. I have to remind myself there’s not actual light in the painting, it’s just the manipulation of colors to look like light.🤯
Oh nice awesome painting I love nature and the woods it's so realistic it would be awesome to have a painting of the woods very nice beautiful art work Chuck 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I loved watching the back painting of the dark and light. I have only done surreal or non-traditional art with oil. I’m learning from your work how to do more realistic and I greatly appreciate your videos.
I really enjoyed watching you paint and learning the process of wet in to wet working small sections at a time. It's a great help and fun to watch of course too. I enjoy your channel.
Your skills just keep getting better! I enjoy watching you improve as an artist. I love the way you added in different colors, bending the rules a bit.

If I had to come up with a dream team of artists......you would be included. Spectacular!
Green is the most difficult color to paint. You did a good job with it. The complementary colors near the center also added great contrast.
That seedling & the greenery in the bush & leaves GLOW with LIFE. So Beautiful 😍

You captured "the hidden" as much as you did the immediately visible. As well as the Mountain Grouse, there could well be wood elves behind the nearest tree...all one would have to do is step over a log, and enter the remarkable world of this painting of the deep forest. Truly a beautiful work!!!!!!!!!
Mesmerizing, always inspired by your work and I love seeing how your art grows through time, not being fixed on anything , keeping childlike state of playing and experimenting. Thank you for sharing !!
