    Well done Maz, that was awesome. If I didn’t already live here I’d move straight away. You’re doing a great job to get the best of the rest over here.

    I've only studied abroad but I have huge respect for people that actually move abroad to start a new life. You make so many sacrifices and you're taking a jump into the unknown.

    I arrived as a young man aged 19 in Sydney. After 30 years in Sydney and the Sunny Coast I am returning to Scotland. A failed marriage after 21yrs and feeling so alone. My parents are in their early 70s and I need to be with them. Loved my time in Australia, the beauty of golden beach is brilliant but always feeling isolated and lonely without having family close by isn't good for my mental health.

    Great vid! So very true. My dad came to Oz from Europe as an 18 year old in the 1960s. Was much harder then with limited technology to contact family back home. But he built a life for himself and his family that he could only have dreamed of had he stayed put.

    Recently, my husband and I started the process of emigrating to Australia and the fact that it's so far from our home country is a pro.

    A other great video. I’m in the vote my children are in Brisbane and I’m living in Auckland with my new partner but she doesn’t want to live there but I do some days. And then I have the other problem is my mum has dementia which I can’t leave her here in New Zealand. Etc I don’t know what to do some days

    • @TheBAMFamalam
      @TheBAMFamalam  Год назад +4

      That’s such a difficult situation, obviously you need to be in NZ to support your Mum for now, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t some to Oz one day.
      Does your partner have children in NZ? Xx

      May I suggest you connect with NZ aged care services if you haven't already and get assessed for help and respite you will be entitled to. We have family members with dementia here in Oz and help is available up to and including residential support.

    So you think leaving the UK in these modern times is a big deal ? My wife and self left Barbados in 1972 to migrate to Western Australia. At the time we knew no one there, there was no internet and apart from our wedding presents and a few tools we had little money. A bold step for small islanders half way around the world, we were told afterwards. But we did it with confidence.

      Emigrating now is nothing in comparison, it certainly was an adventurous move that you made 🥰🐨

    At least there is the internet today. When the £10 poms came out in the 50s and 60s, it would have been harder. Of the 1 million poms who came to Oz at the time about 250,000 went back. On a side note, driving 1 handed sent my OCD crazy, probably from too many years working in police stations.

    • @TheBAMFamalam
      @TheBAMFamalam  Год назад +4

      Yes it would have been so much harder, we can understand why people would have gone back under those circumstances x

      And 80000 of those came back to Australia. Overall more than 75% stayed

    Thanks for this! I'm an American who recently moved to Sydney with our family and definitely felt guilty since my MIL only grandchild is ours. But ultimately, we needed to do what was best and safest for our family (having come from the states...) I don't regret it at all but I do miss them. Thankfully they understand and we have video chats which help.

    You create your life here and you start your own dynasty in Australia. I moved here at 23 in 1977. I now have Aussie children and 4 grandchildren. Never regretted the move. Before covid i had visitors every 2 years. They are thinking of trips here again. Win win.

    Hardest side for me is thinking financially - family can’t afford to visit in AUS, so would be having to go visit them… also difficult as family get older, they need caring for. Hard decisions, but I think worth it.
