It messes up team management. The World Hockey Championship gets panned in Canada and the US by players, who basically need to be threatened about losing their chance to play on the Olympic team before some of them will show up.

The American goalie threw herself out of the crease, into the feet of the Finnish player and got a penalty, but because she didn't make it back to the crease the goal was overturned for goalie interference. It was the single worst call ever made.
