Now that Bergeron has retired I have a hard time disagreeing, I don't think there is a comparable with the high end elite scoring he's also capable of, dude wins huge face offs, penalty kill and power play, this guy can do it all!!!!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
He was top 3 every year before, but his game took a huge step this season because he has more speed

@@xxdarebearxx2794 Tough pill to swallow for Boston fans, I know, so dont shoot me. But I do think Barkov was ahead of Bergeron the last 2 years of his career too, Selke votes were very much a nostalgia/past accomplishments thing. You can argue the 2nd to last year, but the last one Bergeron got he for sure did not deserve over Barkov.
It's refreshing seeing people talking on what I've been seeing. There is one TEAM on the ice. And that makes this not even close. These games have looked how they've looked because Panthers are perfectly happy to just defend and box you out when they have a commanding lead.

I’ve been watching an unsettling amount of hockey content the past couple of months, but can I give some fricking STICK TAPS to this podcast for putting content into the ad reads. Never thought I’d see the day when I didn’t skip past a Bet MGM ad read but the day has arrived
The issue is that when the oilers are on the panthers, the panthers move their feet. When the panthers are on the oilers, the oilers sometimes glide or wait to be hit instead of expending that extra energy and pushing to give themselves space.
As a die hard Florida fan and season ticket holder. It started to change for us when Viola bought the team. He started spending and bringing talent to the team starting with Bobby Lou. We went slowly up from there. We were almost there and then the Vegas draft took March and Smith and it took us some time to fill the those pieces and some other issues but we’ve been waiting and praying and suffering with some tough losses over the last couple of years and I think this is finally our year.
Random fact. My dad played against Tim Thomas in 92, in the state championship final for highschool hockey. That game went to double overtime, Tim had a 60 save shutout and was absolutely unreal. Cool story

Verhaeghe, Tarasenko, Rodrigues have been up and down the top three lines and the 4th line wingers have been swapped out back and forth a few times throughout the playoffs. Depth for days as Bennet was out for a decent stretch, Lundell stepped up and it was hardly noticed.
Baby Barkov is arguably the best 3rd liner in the league. He should be 2nd on most teams. There might be someone better by cant think of one.

Hey, Boston fan here! I kind of agree with Barkov being better at this moment than Bergeron ever was. But I found Bergeron more consistent throughout his career and I think in general a better regular season player.

On the Steen eventual promotion, a point that was not mentioned is that in 2 years, Doug Armstrong is going to be promoted to President of Hockey Operations. Could be a play by him for his own promotion to Stillman, saying "I'm such a good president that I already have my GM groomed and prepared to step in when you promote me"

The Utah colour scheme does NOT suck. You don't need to have 18 different colours on a jersey so that it resembles a Grateful Dead tie dye tee-shirt. I like these a lot. A jersey that's too busy is ugly.

4:15 I legit can say I've never touched the cup because I specfically remember being in grade 7 or 8 at latest grade 9 and going to teh HOF with my cousin and uncle and I refused to touch saying "Im not going to be the reason the Leafs dont win the cup" I literally REFUSED to touch it. Then the other time I've seen the cup when it came to my school in Grade 11 or 12 they specifcally said "Don't touch the cup" I dont know why (I think it was because the school thought one of the students would do something stupid) but I remember going up and my friends being like 'touch the cup touch the cup" then I was told "u can't touch the cup.'

The crazy thing is that the Cats success almost refutes the whole suck and build from the draft idea. Only Ekblad and Barkov are the key players actually drafted by the team. The rest are imports.

I’m not going to list the whole roster but it shows how good trading and smart player management, with an eye to team chemistry, can be successful.

I like the Utah jerseys. And I think they went with black and white to not tie to specific color already. If it was light blue right away, they would've limited space for actual long-term designs.

Panthers fan here. They shift often but have been doing the same lines all year. Verhaeghe switches between the first and second line. Tarasenko started the playoffs on the first line but ended up on the third line where they have found GREAT SUCCESS. Lundell and Luostarinen have always been on the 3rd line. Bennett and Tkachuk always on the second. Barkov and Reinhart always on the first. Rodrigues has been up and down the lineup. They have also switched Okposo and Lorentz for Lomberg and Cousins a couple of times in the playoffs.

Seattle and Vegas had a year to pull for teams, names, and color schemes, then 18 plus months to put together a marketing and design campaign. Utah had four months. I would say getting them on the ice is the only priority at this stage.Then the amount of community interaction and feedback while they are a live-playing team will be outstanding.
Give me 4 months and I can come up with better marketing and better jersey then that..these guys are millionaires..it shouldn't take 4 months to come up with a jersey like this. They aren't saying anything negative about Utah other then these jersey are boring.

Not my original thought in response to Steen being announced as the Blues' successor GM but I wish Ken Holland did this with Yzerman in like 2012. I cannot be convinced that Tampa would not be the same powerhouse they have been and the Red Wings would have made the playoffs at least 2 of the last 4 years.

But no I'm a Bruins fan and I don't think I've ever seen Bergeron negate the opposing teams most dangerous player in every single series the way that Barkov has. The only one that comes to mind is when the team held Crosby, Malkin, Iginla, Letang & Co POINTLESS through 4 games. The entire team scored 2 goals through all four games. Unthinkable.
Feels like every year you have to listen to the obligatory "the greatest team". Who will ever beat Vegas look at that defense, OMG Colorado has such amazing young offensive talent theyre set for years. This year instead of talking about the story, Bobs unbeatable, its omg what a deep team, how complete, much wow. Its the same team that wins the cup every year. The contender who has the hot goalie, lifts the hardware.

This is the water crest for this Edmonton roster. McDavid and Draisaitl will continue to dominate but Holland has not given the rest of the roster the tools or functional salary to sustain this.
