    I love running and watch films and documentary about running… but I am mad with you because after discovering yours it is impossibile to watch the other. Your Pov from inside, the sound of your steps, the emotional views and the tecnical explanation, the smile and the strenght of Audree (I also run with my wife), your wanderful soundtrack, the race result… immense!!

    Nice route, especially the last section down into Naramata. We've hiked much of that trail (similar time of year, too) and it was surprisingly rough. You make it look easy! It looks like more of the burned trees have fallen or been cleared since we were there in 2009 so the views are a lot better. Fun to recognize some of the trail!

    Been lots of forest fires there, almost all big trees down.

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  Год назад

      My understanding is that the fires were all further north around Kelowna, so the course was spared, although I could be wrong. There was though a fire along the first section of the course something like 15 years ago.

    Hi Jeff, great video. Hoping to enter my first 50k in 2024 - your videos are very inspiring! Have you listened to the recent SWAP podcast (last week, I think) on exogenous ketones? Curious to know your opinion on whether they give any performance benefit if consumed before or during exercise.

    Why is it you guys kept saying it was soo hot yet noone seemed to be drenched in sweat? Audree looked as fresh as a daisy, yet she was hot, you must be really climatized.

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  2 месяца назад

      It’s a dryer heat here in BC, so unlike in humid environments, your sweat does tend to evaporate. But it still has a huge effect on perceived effort.

    • @leschortos9196
      @leschortos9196 2 месяца назад +1

      @JeffPelletier I'm from the most southern tip of Canada, Leamington, we 90% humidity here you walk across the street your soaked. Did Ironman years ago, they have ice stops along the coarse, to load up on for chilling you down, it's well received by the athletes.

  • @CanadianSledDog
    @CanadianSledDog Год назад

    Do they charge entrance fees in BC? I was shocked to learn that running a 100+ km race in Nova Scotia typically costs $300 mandatory "donation" 🤬 elitists.

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  Год назад +4

      Yes, of course. These races are a business and a full time job for the team who runs them. There are costs for permits, insurance, staff, and all of the supplies. I believe this one costs about $200 CAD.

    • @CanadianSledDog
      @CanadianSledDog Год назад +1

      @@JeffPelletier a business? What kind of business uses volunteer labour? I thought this was a community. As a low income runner I could never come up with an extra $200 or $300, most of us are having a hard enough time affording food. I guess that means I can't be part of this upper class running community. Honestly I don't need anyone to tell me when to run but I do feel very sad that I'll miss out on meeting all the other runners.

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  Год назад +2

      I hear you, racing is unfortunately an expensive part of our sport. It would be even more so without volunteers. There are actually a few races that are run as non-profits, like the Kneeknacker 50k here in Vancouver, but it still costs $175.

    • @CanadianSledDog
      @CanadianSledDog Год назад +2

      @@JeffPelletier hopefully organizers can work out a way to make races more inclusive in the future.
