In Sweden, stalkers are made to wear foot cuffs that always tracks their position. this means, that when they have a restraining order, they can get arrested as soon as they are too close to the victim they are stalking. This way of dealing with stalkers has the strongest evidence that they dont recommit the offenses, and actually show that higher rates of stalkers stay away from their victims.

I agree it’s efficient for repeat offenders. But in cases of first time actors, the story is different. I’m not sure a restraining order warrants geolocation monitoring in most countries. However, if a restraining order is broken- I really do see the benefits of a tracker, assuming law enforcement can intercept before tragedy.

      People don't take it serious.
If they aren't telling a victim to ignore it then they're saying it is imagined 🙄.
It's extremely hard to get police to investigate the basics like a car break-in that a business surveillance video may have captured but the business won't release the video to anyone but the police 🙄.
And they know how to hack security systems to override cameras and alarms... It's just a difficult insanity to combat alone.

Screw you for insulting all of us. I may have stalking tendencies, but at least I never acted out on them. THE Closest thing I've ever done, it try to find a hacker online to delete someone's twitter account. Not all of us are super dangerous.
I wish you people knew what we feel like and I wish you knew how our heads work and how we actually DON'T want to stalk people after a while, but due to memories and brain chemical imbalance. Our brains will NOT make us forget. I once couldn't sleep for two nights because my brain wouldn't stop repeating the person who installed online. I actually couldn't eat for two days. I slapped myself and even tried hitting my head on a tree, to forget about her. But I couldn't. I don't remember how I moved on but I think I just prayed for God to make me forget about the person, or at least have my brain stop thinking about her. Low and behold, I was able to move on. I could eat again and though I couldn't erase her twitter account completely from my memory. I was able to go back to my life. This experience is why I have some sympathy or at least pity, for stalkers.

One of my ex’s also stalked me for months after we finally broke up, but he was too much of a coward to do it himself…he also had pending legal action against him. He had friends of his (who used to be friends of both of ours when we were dating) do it for him, and report back to him. I’d get tons of harassing phone calls and text messages, and to this day, I don’t know how much of it was him or the idiots he manipulated into believing that I deserved this sort of behavior for leaving a toxic and abusive relationship. At the minimum, I know his then girlfriend (who he cheated on me with) and his own MOTHER were directly involved. The police never took me seriously. I’m just so relieved, humbled, and grateful that in my case, the stalking eventually petered out many years ago with no violent escalation…so many other victims meet with unnecessary tragedy. ❤️

I had a stalker while i was in the army. He was military too so he had access to come on base where i was stationed at. I was moved to a new command, but he reached out to friends who stupidly gave him my information. He'd show up constantly to my shop, and a restraining order did little next to nothing. The most that happened to him was a few days in the brig, in which a stupid MP gave him his PERSONAL phone to contact me.
Nothing happened til he broke into my apartment where he tried to strangle me to death.
To this day, i blame his command for defending his actions along with my own friends giving him my information.
Stalking is a serious issue. I refuse now to give friends my personal information now because im so scared theyll be stupid again and give my info up.

For most stalkers, a restraining order isn't a deterrent. There need to be tougher laws that are consistently enforced to make a difference. With some digging, the authorities could've found this guy. He obviously had a cellphone that could be used to track him and credit/debit card activity would've helped as well. Too often, police are dismissive of stalking complaints because they think the stalker will eventually "get the message" and leave the victim alone or worse, think the victim brought the situation on themselves.

You hear about people begging authorities for help and handing out restraining orders and fines and any kind of consequence, but the stalkers are relentless. And it doesn’t seem like much gets done until the stalker physically harms them. By that point it’s too late. Not to mention, often you get the temporary restraining order, but the judges don't even issue full restraining orders… unless you pay $2K+ to have a lawyer represent you in court. Stalkers are often great liars, since their whole lives are a lie, and the system really doesn't care about you. Police don't do anything but tell you to get a restraining order. And in the end the paper does nothing if someone is determined. You must supply your own self defense.

This is unfortunately where you have to actively prepare to protect yourself. The police essentially stop protecting you once that phone call ends or you leave their station. Even tho I don’t carry (I’m not against it and I have friends who do), I’m hyper aware of where I can find “weapons” in my house (knives, bats, etc), escape paths, everything is always checked to be locked before sleeping, etc. Even if I know I’m in the house by myself and my doors are 100% locked, I still shower or sleep with the door to that room locked. I’m not messing around haha.

That is not how our laws and Constitutional rights are structured. The best they can do is arrest someone for Stalking which can range from a misdemeanor to felony in most States- so you're looking at what- 6 month to maybe 2 years if no probation.

    • @EnfvntTerrible
      @EnfvntTerrible 3 месяца назад +1

You're right, a paper won't protect them from direct harm, but that's not the point of a restraining order, they're put in place so that IF and WHEN the stalker does something to violate the order, then it is grounds for arrest and further police intervention. I had an ex nearly 5 years ago now that ended up stalking me and leaving letters in my parents letterbox, it became incredibly intrusive and i'd get over 70 phone calls a day from private numbers and constant message requests on social media, I then filed a restraining order against her and now if she does something again i can easily go to the cops and a more serious and immediate action will be taken. Funnily enough, she has sent me a message request in the last few weeks, i immediately blocked her new account but don't feel immediately threatened to notify the police but if i did i know she would be in huge trouble due to the order against her, i always lowkey joke that if i ever go missing or something happens to me it's cause she did it ha.

Whoever was the authority that went to his home and gave him a warning?.. He had already been to her front door... That was enough evidence at that point to have arrested him for threatening behavior and tracking her down narrowing her position to her home. Law enforcement failed in their responsibility to protect. They already knew his residence it's easy to check the truck trucking company and find out when he would be in between deliveries. When she went to the Redmond police and told them of everything that was happening with the packages and the hotel invitations over and over again all they said was let us know when there's something new that happens... No that's just not taking the situation seriously enough or being irresponsible and ignoring their responsibility to protect and serve.

Internet makes more and more socially isolated ppl, often from birth. They would be awkward and obsessive, stuck in a mental loop not able to get out. Ppl who live on line due to work or use SM heavily are all potentially in danger if attracted unreasonable attention from a person like this guy (or gal). Address is easy to find. Phone number, too. Although not every stalking case ends in murder, the act itself is heavily damaging to victims’ sense of safety and well being. Living in constant fear is no life at all. Worse yet, fear for loved ones’ safety is even worse.

Considering he drove from Texas to Washington to stalk her, I really don't think moving would have actually helped in this case. They probably wouldn't have been able to move fast enough to not tip him off, and even if they did he would have quickly figured it out and just tracked her down again. Unfortunately police just don't do enough to protect victims in these cases - these people are completely unhinged and will not stop unless forced.

Here this so much when it comes to police. "No violence has been done so we cant do anything. We will keep an eye out". I don't know how true that is because I never been stalked but stalking does need to be taken seriously. This story alone is disturbing and a eye opener.

This is a wonderful channel - the videos are so well done! Thanks very much for bringing these stories to your viewers - even when they’re tragic, they provide interesting and educational accounts of situations of real people. My heart breaks for those injured or killed and for their loved ones as well. ❤

Very new to the channel. Ok, it took me several videos to finally accept that this is your voice, and this is how you speak. First video I watched I actually thought it was somewhat computer-generated. I love everything about your presentation of these cases and videos, and such clarity is really commendable.
