    Welcome to Sensible Secondhand Reviews, the series where we usually take a sensible secondhand car worth between £1000 and £5000 and put it through its paces in a very straightforward manner! This time, however, we test a 2014 Peugeot 208 1.2 VTi Allure, which had a high proportion of engines in its range which we are unable to discuss on the channel...
    Be prepared for a wet belt engine, a very unusual I-Cockpit dashboard layout, a rather useless touchscreen and very little of any consequence at all. Nothing untoward, then!

    Excellent little review and the cambelt advice is very important for any potential buyer as these belts can go at low mileage. Make sure the correct grade oil is used and as you say get it done before Peugeot recommend. If you have a turbocharged 1.2 puretech then this may be subject to a recall as it affects the braking system when the belt breaks up.
    Again a strange spec from PSA no cruise control but a speed limiter on a mid spec??
    Another excellent review as always Sir.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Год назад

      Yes, a strange specification, isn't it? They can indeed fail at low mileage, so best to adhere to the intervals on your Puretech engine and use the correct oil. Thank you for watching, sir!

      Limiter & cruise are combined. A wheel Lets you select between the 2. It is hidden behind the Sterling wheel on the left side

    Thank you for this video! I presume, like other CERTAIN French cars, that this is found in New Zealand. Certainly the new electric Peugeots I have seen on display at the local mall suggest the brand still has a strong presence in my country - such cars were recently used by a major rental firm here!

    Enjoyed this review. I think the highest output 1.2 litre engine would be my choice. The windy rear windows wouldn't bother me at all.
    The 208 looks 100 times sharper than the 207, which I too didn't like. Never experienced what they were like to drive but the 207 was lazily executed in my opinion. They looked liked a stretched and widened 206. I wish that Peugeot kept the 206 in production for longer and never bothered with the 207.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Год назад +2

      Yes sir, about a million times better than a 207. The 206 was indeed kept in production in facelifted form as the 206+ until the 208 came out in some Continental markets, funnily enough.

  • @seancooke7332
    @seancooke7332 11 месяцев назад +1

    Great to see Peugeot back at their best. They seemed to lose their way a little after the beautiful 206 which was so popular at launch that they flew out of the showrooms.
    The 208 seems like a fine all round family vehicle in 5 door form but I can't help thinking that the 308 or the Citroën C4 would be even better with a bit more space. Maybe I'm wrong.
    Would this be the same engine as my friend's 2021 Vauxhall Crossland now that both makes are under the Stellantis umbrella?

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  11 месяцев назад

      Yes, the 207s are not very good. Not very good at all. The 208s have their issues, although the Puretech engines are still being used in many Stellantis models, such as the Crossland, 308 and C4, they aren't necessarily the most reliable. The Prince engines were worse, however...

      @@lloydvehicleconsulting Welp, my 207 is still going strong. My mother handed it down to me and it's great. It's the most reliable car my parents have ever owned and besides the weak engine, they kinda regret giving it to me lol

    I have a 2012 1.6 e-HDi (sorry) Allure. It has a higher resolution, colour driver's display as per the higher trim levels, a blue light set centrally in the indent below the binnacle, lighting for the front footwells and the storage area ahead of the (removable) front cup holders, and blue-to-black faded interior grab handles on the front doors. It doesn't have DAB, as it was an early car. Also, the car in this video does indeed have a shared stalk for cruise control and the speed limited (you can only use one or the other, not both at the same time) just below the indicator stalk, you see it briefly at 7:12 and will note it's extremely similar to the old media control on prior Peugeots (albeit flipped); the button at 9:35 is the rear door child lock, and this version has an upgraded SMEG touchscreen.

      Good to know that I got most of it right when I filmed one of these back in the summer. I was quite surprised that this video has done reasonably well, these aren't bad little cars, really.
