Fun Fact: The average Twitter X user doesn't get 5M tweet impressions consistently - the requirement to be able to be accepted in their ad-sharing program, so no they aren`t paying you in a sense, it's just an effort to keep those large accounts from migrating away.
What's also funny, you need a *Twitter Blue Subscription* - many platforms like here on RUclips and Facebook/Instagram don't require lmao.

The more i hear about this side of twitter the less interest i have in twitter. Like feeding me monetized trash content. I've very little interest in hearing that. Honestly I hate that. ideally i'd just have old instagram with just pictures, no ads, and seeing the people i follow. I don't care about people's opinions. Ijust want pictures.

This seems to me very scammy. Give really famous people a bunch of money where no one understands the rules behind it, let them say things like "a Twitter blue subscription pays for itself", then get a whole bunch of desperate people who want to make a quick buck subscribe and pay Twitter in hope of getting paid, which they probably never will.

Nope, nothing on Twitter has ads for me, nor any other platform or website anywhere on the internet. That's a thing of the past for me. The wonders of an independently made, and completely effective ad-blocker.
Threads though will have instagram and facebook to tap as a source for the process of revenue sharing and copyright enforcement. I think they'll be ok. As for Twitter i bet there is a contributory infringement copyright lawsuit incoming if they just do nothing regarding copyright infringement.
I've found instagram comments to be just as toxic as anywhere else. So much hate, arguing, fanboying, misinformation going around. Everytime I wonder what the comments say I have to remind myself to not check it.

It's a desperate way to keep the most addicted/famous accounts on the platform. The vast majority of people on Twitter don't tweet/get enough views to warrant anything from this.
It's a work in progress tbh. With a huge overhaul they want things to be set up well and it all takes time to work out the kinks

@@JamesRoyceDawson Meh, the big thing is for X acquiring security on their advertising system. Once that is reliable, and X has advertisers locked in contracts, knows the terms, has cashflow, etc. They can work on a payment model for creators. Once all of the background stuff is stable, all they have to do is announce what they're paying and people will flock right back. Creators follow the money at the end of the day. And if it is one more stream to make revenue, they will go there.

I know I’m fairly old for the demographic, my social media interactions have dropped to barely anything. Mainly jokes and the occasional festival pic, but that’s it. I terminated my twitter account and I have no intention of getting a threads.

I know it may not be 100% relevant to your audience, but have you discussed Canada’s new law that requires tech companies to compensate media organizations if they want to host Canadian news content on their platforms? It’s already happening on Meta apps (Facebook, Instagram) and Google says it rejects it.

Then it also creates an incentive for creators to police themselves (at length) due to brand selection bias

Twitter recently drop engagement for everyone without blue check mark. I have small accounts with 5k followers. But I use to get some traffic, sometimes some comments and ok for my views total per post with couple of k. Now it's maybe 150 views if I'm lucky and 1 like per post.
I think you shoul be able to tweet while watching a video, without pausing. It is possible on youtube. I think it would improve the engagement.

i guess you are eligible, the eligibity now is 5 million impression cumulative in the last three month, so you are eligible as long as 34m impression in may is in the span of 3 months ago

Starting from fresh account as not blue user I get 100-500 impressions but when twitter blue users reteeets it can get to 50k posting memes about trending stuff
I joined Twitter fresh account last year in September months later in from may my impressions were already 100k then following months 200k without a subscription then Twitter busy sending me massages that i am missing out on being monetized now this month i decided to pay for blue check i applied for monetizing still waiting for response still under review so its doable but you have to be consistent
It kind of makes you pause now they revealed their plans for X. Like, they will channel those funds to be spent through the app now with their financial services stuff for sure.

Like everything else these days on Twitter, this is like some idea someone came up with and they just rolled it out, without thinking about it, without properly explaining it or thinking it through. I get it, free money is nice but there’s so many loose ends and question marks with this. Another lesson in the book “how to slowly destroy Twitter”

@@vixozas Loose ends, like no insights for the creator on how the $-amount was derived, what are the exact rules and guidelines and thresholds for payment etc… Then also, as mentioned in the video, what about the potential incentive for creators to just start tweeting stuff generating replies for earnings as opposed to creating useful content.
